¹Isus a intrat în Ierihon, şi trecea prin cetate.

¹He entered and was passing through Jericho.

²Şi un om bogat, numit Zacheu, mai marele vameşilor,

²There was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.

³căuta să vadă care este Isus; dar nu putea din pricina norodului, căci era mic de statură.

³He was trying to see who Jesus was, and couldn’t because of the crowd, because he was short.

⁴A alergat înainte, şi s'a suit într'un dud ca să -L vadă; pentrucă pe drumul acela avea să treacă.

⁴He ran on ahead, and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way.

⁵Isus, cînd a ajuns la locul acela, Şi -a ridicat ochii în sus, şi i -a zis: ,,Zachee, dă-te jos de grabă, căci astăzi trebuie să rămîn în casa ta.``

⁵When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”

⁶Zacheu s'a dat jos în grabă, şi L -a primit cu bucurie.

⁶He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully.

⁷Cînd au văzut lucrul acesta, toţi cîrteau şi ziceau: ,,A intrat să găzduiască la un om păcătos!``

⁷When they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone in to lodge with a man who is a sinner.”

⁸Dar Zacheu a stătut înaintea Domnului, şi I -a zis: ,,Iată, Doamne, jumătate din avuţia mea o dau săracilor; şi, dacă am năpăstuit pe cineva cu ceva, îi dau înapoi împătrit.``

⁸Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. If I have wrongfully exacted anything of anyone, I restore four times as much.”

⁹Isus i -a zis: ,,Astăzi a intrat mîntuirea în casa aceasta, căci şi el este fiul lui Avraam.

⁹Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.

¹⁰Pentrucă Fiul omului a venit să caute şi să mîntuiască ce era pierdut.``

¹⁰ For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”

¹¹Pe cînd ascultau ei aceste lucruri, Isus a mai spus o pildă, pentrucă era aproape de Ierusalim, şi ei credeau că Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu are să se arate îndată.

¹¹As they heard these things, he went on and told a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that the Kingdom of God would be revealed immediately.

¹²Deci a zis: ,,Un om de neam mare s'a dus într'o ţară depărtată, ca să-şi ia o împărăţie, şi apoi să se întoarcă.

¹²He said therefore, “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

¹³A chemat zece din robii săi, le -a dat zece poli (Greceşte: mine.), şi le -a zis: ,,Puneţi -i în negoţ pînă mă voi întoarce.``

¹³ He called ten servants of his, and gave them ten mina coins, 10 minas was more than 3 years’ wages for an agricultural laborer. and told them, ‘Conduct business until I come.’

¹⁴Dar cetăţenii lui îl urau; şi au trimes după el o solie să -i spună: ,,Nu vrem ca omul acesta să împărăţească peste noi.``

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, ‘We don’t want this man to reign over us.’

¹⁵Cînd s'a întors înapoi, după ce îşi luase împărăţia, a spus să cheme pe robii aceia, cărora le dăduse banii, ca să vadă cît cîştigase fiecare cu ei din negoţ.

¹⁵ “It happened when he had come back again, having received the kingdom, that he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by conducting business.

¹⁶Cel dintîi a venit, şi i -a zis: ,,Doamne, polul tău a mai adus zece poli.``

¹⁶ The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten more minas.’

¹⁷El i -a zis: ,,Bine, rob bun; fiindcă ai fost credincios în puţine lucruri, primeşte cîrmuirea a zece cetăţi.``

¹⁷ “He said to him, ‘Well done, you good servant! Because you were found faithful with very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’

¹⁸A venit al doilea, şi i -a zis: ,,Doamne, polul tău a mai adus cinci poli.``

¹⁸ “The second came, saying, ‘Your mina, Lord, has made five minas.’

¹⁹El i -a zis şi lui: ,,Primeşte şi tu cîrmuirea a cinci cetăţi.``

¹⁹ “So he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’

²⁰A venit un altul, şi i -a zis: ,,Doamne, iată-ţi polul, pe care l-am păstrat învelit într'un ştergar;

²⁰ Another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold, your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief,

²¹căci m'am temut de tine, fiindcă eşti un om aspru; iei ce n'ai pus, şi seceri ce n'ai sămănat.``

²¹ for I feared you, because you are an exacting man. You take up that which you didn’t lay down, and reap that which you didn’t sow.’

²²Stăpînul i -a zis: ,,Rob rău; te voi judeca după cuvintele tale. Ştiai că sînt un om aspru, care iau ce n'am pus şi secer ce n'am sămănat;

²² “He said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant! You knew that I am an exacting man, taking up that which I didn’t lay down, and reaping that which I didn’t sow.

²³atunci de ce nu mi-ai pus banii la zarafi, pentruca, la întoarcerea mea, să -i fi luat înapoi cu dobîndă?``

²³ Then why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank, and at my coming, I might have earned interest on it?’

²⁴Apoi a zis celor ce erau de faţă: ,,Luaţi -i polul, şi daţi -l celui ce are zece poli.``

²⁴ He said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina away from him, and give it to him who has the ten minas.’

²⁵,,Doamne``, i-au zis ei, ,,el are zece poli.``

²⁵ “They said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’

²⁶Iar el le -a zis: ,,Vă spun că celui ce are, i se va da; dar dela cel ce n'are, se va lua chiar şi ce are.

²⁶ ‘For I tell you that to everyone who has, will more be given; but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.

²⁷Cît despre vrăjmaşii mei, cari n'au vrut să împărăţesc eu peste ei, aduceţi -i încoace, şi tăiaţi -i înaintea mea.``

²⁷ But bring those enemies of mine who didn’t want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.’”

²⁸După ce a vorbit astfel, Isus a pornit în frunte şi Se suia spre Ierusalim.

²⁸Having said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

²⁹Cînd S'a apropiat de Betfaghe şi de Betania, înspre muntele numit al Măslinilor, Isus a trimes pe doi din ucenicii Săi,

²⁹It happened, when he drew near to Bethsphage TR, NU read “Bethpage” instead of “Bethsphage” and Bethany, at the mountain that is called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,

³⁰şi le -a zis: ,,Duceţi-vă în satul dinaintea voastră. Cînd veţi intra în el, veţi găsi un măgăruş legat, pe care n'a încălecat nimeni niciodată: deslegaţi -l, şi aduceţi-Mi -l.

³⁰saying, “Go your way into the village on the other side, in which, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, whereon no man ever yet sat. Untie it, and bring it.

³¹Dacă vă va întreba cineva: ,Pentruce -l deslegaţi?` să -i spuneţi aşa: ,Pentrucă Domnul are trebuinţă de el.``

³¹ If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say to him: ‘The Lord needs it.’”

³²Ceice fuseseră trimeşi, s'au dus şi au găsit aşa cum le spusese Isus.

³²Those who were sent went away, and found things just as he had told them.

³³Pe cînd deslegau măgăruşul, stăpînii lui le-au zis: ,,Pentruce deslegaţi măgăruşul?``

³³As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”

³⁴Ei au răspuns: ,,Domnul are trebuinţă de el.``

³⁴They said, “The Lord needs it.”

³⁵Şi au adus măgăruşul la Isus. Apoi şi-au aruncat hainele pe el, şi au aşezat pe Isus, călare deasupra.

³⁵They brought it to Jesus. They threw their cloaks on the colt, and set Jesus on them.

³⁶Pe cînd mergea Isus, oamenii îşi aşterneau hainele pe drum.

³⁶As he went, they spread their cloaks in the way.

³⁷Şi cînd S'a apropiat de Ierusalim, spre pogorîşul muntelui Măslinilor, toată mulţimea ucenicilor, plină de bucurie, a început să laude pe Dumnezeu cu glas tare pentru toate minunile, pe cari le văzuseră.

³⁷As he was now getting near, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen,

³⁸Ei ziceau: ,,Binecuvîntat este Împăratul care vine în Numele Domnului! Pace în cer, şi slavă în locurile prea înalte!``

³⁸saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Psalm 118:26 Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest!”

³⁹Unii Farisei, din norod, au zis lui Isus: ,,Învăţătorule, ceartă-Ţi ucenicii!``

³⁹Some of the Pharisees from the multitude said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”

⁴⁰Şi El a răspuns: ,,Vă spun că, dacă vor tăcea ei, pietrele vor striga.``

⁴⁰He answered them, “I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out.”

⁴¹Cînd S'a apropiat de cetate şi a văzut -o, Isus a plîns pentru ea,

⁴¹When he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it,

⁴²şi a zis: ,,Dacă ai fi cunoscut şi tu, măcar în această zi, lucrurile, cari puteau să-ţi dea pacea! Dar acum, ele sînt ascunse de ochii tăi.

⁴²saying, “If you, even you, had known today the things which belong to your peace! But now, they are hidden from your eyes.

⁴³Vor veni peste tine zile, cînd vrăjmaşii tăi te vor înconjura cu şanţuri, te vor împresura, şi te vor strînge din toate părţile:

⁴³ For the days will come on you, when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,

⁴⁴te vor face una cu pămîntul, pe tine şi pe copiii tăi din mijlocul tău; şi nu vor lăsa în tine piatră pe piatră, pentrucă n'ai cunoscut vremea cînd ai fost cercetată.``

⁴⁴ and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you didn’t know the time of your visitation.”

⁴⁵În urmă a intrat în Templu, şi a început să scoată afară pe ceice vindeau şi cumpărau în el.

⁴⁵He entered into the temple, and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it,

⁴⁶Şi le -a zis: ,,Este scris: ,Casa Mea va fi o casă de rugăciune. Dar voi aţi făcut din ea o peşteră de tîlhari.``

⁴⁶saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ Isaiah 56:7 but you have made it a ‘den of robbers’!” Jeremiah 7:11

⁴⁷Isus învăţa în toate zilele pe norod în Templu. Şi preoţii cei mai de seamă, cărturarii şi bătrînii norodului căutau să -L omoare;

⁴⁷He was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people sought to destroy him.

⁴⁸dar nu ştiau cum să facă, pentrucă tot norodul Îi sorbea vorbele de pe buze.

⁴⁸They couldn’t find what they might do, for all the people hung on to every word that he said.
