¹Într'una din acele zile, cînd învăţa Isus norodul în Templu şi propovăduia Evanghelia, au venit deodată la El preoţii cei mai de seamă şi cărturarii, cu bătrînii,

¹It happened on one of those days, as he was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the Good News, that the TR adds “chief” priests and scribes came to him with the elders.

²şi I-au zis: ,,Spune-ne, cu ce putere faci Tu aceste lucruri, sau cine Ţi -a dat puterea aceasta?``

²They asked him, “Tell us: by what authority do you do these things? Or who is giving you this authority?”

³Drept răspuns, El le -a zis: ,,Am să vă pun şi Eu o întrebare. Spuneţi-Mi:

³He answered them, “I also will ask you one question. Tell me:

⁴Botezul lui Ioan venea din cer sau dela oameni?``

⁴ the baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men?”

⁵Dar ei cugetau astfel între ei: ,,Dacă răspundem: ,Din cer`, va zice: ,Atunci dece nu l-aţi crezut?`

⁵They reasoned with themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why didn’t you believe him?’

⁶Şi dacă răspundem: ,Dela oameni`, tot norodul ne va ucide cu pietre; căci este încredinţat că Ioan era un prooroc.``

⁶But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.”

⁷Atunci au răspuns că nu ştiu de unde venea botezul lui Ioan.

⁷They answered that they didn’t know where it was from.

⁸Şi Isus le -a zis: ,,Nici Eu n'am să vă spun cu ce putere fac aceste lucruri.``

⁸Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”

⁹Apoi a început să spună norodului pilda aceasta: ,,Un om a sădit o vie, a arendat -o unor vieri şi a plecat într'o altă ţară, pentru o vreme îndelungată.

⁹He began to tell the people this parable. “A NU (in brackets) and TR add “certain” man planted a vineyard, and rented it out to some farmers, and went into another country for a long time.

¹⁰La vremea rodurilor, a trimes la vieri un rob, ca să -i dea partea lui din rodul viei. Vierii l-au bătut, şi l-au trimes înapoi cu mînile goale.

¹⁰ At the proper season, he sent a servant to the farmers to collect his share of the fruit of the vineyard. But the farmers beat him, and sent him away empty.

¹¹A mai trimes un alt rob; ei l-au bătut şi pe acela, l-au batjocorit, şi l-au trimes înapoi cu mînile goale.

¹¹ He sent yet another servant, and they also beat him, and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

¹²A mai trimes un al treilea rob; ei l-au rănit şi pe acela, şi l-au scos afară.

¹² He sent yet a third, and they also wounded him, and threw him out.

¹³Stăpînul viei a zis: ,,Ce să fac? Am să trimet pe fiul meu prea iubit; poate că îl vor primi cu cinste.``

¹³ The lord of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. It may be that seeing him, they will respect him.’

¹⁴Dar vierii, cînd l-au văzut, s'au sfătuit între ei, şi au zis: ,,Iată moştenitorul; veniţi să -l ucidem, ca moştenirea să fie a noastră.``

¹⁴ “But when the farmers saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.’

¹⁵Şi l-au scos afară din vie, şi l-au omorît. Acum, ce le va face stăpînul viei?

¹⁵ They threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do to them?

¹⁶Va veni, va pierde pe vierii aceia, şi via o va da altora.`` Cînd au auzit ei cuvintele acestea, au zis: ,,Nicidecum!``

¹⁶ He will come and destroy these farmers, and will give the vineyard to others.” When they heard it, they said, “May it never be!”

¹⁷Dar Isus i -a privit drept în faţă, şi a zis: ,,Ce însemnează cuvintele acestea, cari au fost scrise: ,Piatra, pe care au lepădat -o zidarii, a ajuns să fie pusă în capul unghiului?

¹⁷But he looked at them, and said, “Then what is this that is written, ‘The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the chief cornerstone?’ Psalm 118:22

¹⁸Oricine va cădea peste piatra aceasta, va fi zdrobit de ea: şi pe acela peste care va cădea ea, îl va spulbera?``

¹⁸ Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but it will crush whomever it falls on to dust.”

¹⁹Preoţii cei mai de seamă şi cărturarii căutau să pună mîna pe El, chiar în ceasul acela, dar se temeau de norod. Pricepuseră că Isus spusese pilda aceasta împotriva lor.

¹⁹The chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on him that very hour, but they feared the people—for they knew he had spoken this parable against them.

²⁰Au început să pîndească pe Isus; şi au trimes nişte iscoditori, cari se prefăceau că sînt neprihăniţi, ca să -L prindă cu vorba şi să -L dea pe mîna stăpînirii şi pe mîna puterii dregătorului.

²⁰They watched him, and sent out spies, who pretended to be righteous, that they might trap him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the power and authority of the governor.

²¹Iscoditorii aceştia L-au întrebat: ,,Învăţătorule, ştim că vorbeşti şi înveţi pe oameni drept, şi că nu cauţi la faţa oamenilor, ci -i înveţi calea lui Dumnezeu în adevăr.

²¹They asked him, “Teacher, we know that you say and teach what is right, and aren’t partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God.

²²Se cuvine să plătim bir Cezarului sau nu?``

²²Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

²³Isus le -a priceput viclenia, şi le -a răspuns: ,,Pentru ce Mă ispitiţi?

²³But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them, “Why do you test me?

²⁴Arătaţi-Mi un ban (Greceşte: dinar.). Al cui chip, şi ale cui slove sînt scrise pe el?`` ,,Ale Cezarului`` au răspuns ei.

²⁴ Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?” They answered, “Caesar’s.”

²⁵Atunci El le -a zis: ,,Daţi dar Cezarului ce este al Cezarului, şi lui Dumnezeu ce este al lui Dumnezeu.``

²⁵He said to them, “Then give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

²⁶Nu L-au putut prinde cu vorba înaintea norodului; ci, miraţi de răspunsul Lui, au tăcut.

²⁶They weren’t able to trap him in his words before the people. They marveled at his answer, and were silent.

²⁷Unii din Saduchei, cari zic că nu este înviere, s'au apropiat şi au întrebat pe Isus:

²⁷Some of the Sadducees came to him, those who deny that there is a resurrection.

²⁸,,Învăţătorule, iată ce ne -a scris Moise: ,Dacă moare fratele cuiva, avînd nevastă, dar fără să aibă copii, fratele lui să ia pe nevasta lui, şi să ridice urmaş fratelui său.`

²⁸They asked him, “Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man’s brother dies having a wife, and he is childless, his brother should take the wife, and raise up children for his brother.

²⁹Au fost dar şapte fraţi. Cel dintîi s'a însurat, şi a murit fără copii.

²⁹There were therefore seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died childless.

³⁰Pe nevasta lui, a luat -o al doilea; şi a murit şi el fără copii.

³⁰The second took her as wife, and he died childless.

³¹A luat -o şi al treilea, şi tot aşa toţi şapte; şi au murit fără să lase copii.

³¹The third took her, and likewise the seven all left no children, and died.

³²La urma tuturor, a murit şi femeia.

³²Afterward the woman also died.

³³Deci, la înviere, nevasta căruia dintre ei va fi femeia? Fiindcă toţi şapte au avut -o de nevastă.``

³³Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them will she be? For the seven had her as a wife.”

³⁴Isus le -a răspuns: ,,Fiii veacului acestuia se însoară şi se mărită;

³⁴Jesus said to them, “The children of this age marry, and are given in marriage.

³⁵dar cei ce vor fi găsiţi vrednici să aibă parte de veacul viitor şi de învierea dintre cei morţi, nici nu se vor însura, nici nu se vor mărita.

³⁵ But those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage.

³⁶Pentrucă nici nu vor putea muri, căci vor fi ca îngerii. Şi vor fi fiii lui Dumnezeu, fiind fii ai învierii.

³⁶ For they can’t die any more, for they are like the angels, and are children of God, being children of the resurrection.

³⁷Dar că morţii înviază, a arătat însuşi Moise, în locul unde este vorba despre ,Rug`, cînd numeşte pe Domnul: ,Dumnezeul lui Avraam, Dumnezeul lui Isaac şi Dumnezeul lui Iacov.`

³⁷ But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he called the Lord ‘The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ Exodus 3:6

³⁸Dar Dumnezeu nu este un Dumnezeu al celor morţi, ci al celor vii, căci pentru El toţi sînt vii.``

³⁸ Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all are alive to him.”

³⁹Unii din cărturari au luat cuvîntul, şi au zis: ,,Învăţătorule, bine ai zis.``

³⁹Some of the scribes answered, “Teacher, you speak well.”

⁴⁰Şi nu mai îndrăzneau să -I mai pună nici o întrebare.

⁴⁰They didn’t dare to ask him any more questions.

⁴¹Isus le -a zis: ,,Cum se zice că Hristosul este fiul lui David?

⁴¹He said to them, “Why do they say that the Christ is David’s son?

⁴²Căci însuş David zice în Cartea Psalmilor: ,Domnul a zis Domnului meu: Şezi la dreapta Mea,

⁴² David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand,

⁴³pînă voi pune pe vrăjmaşii Tăi supt picioarele Tale.`

⁴³ until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet.”’ Psalm 110:1

⁴⁴Deci David Îl numeşte Domn; atunci cum este El fiul lui?``

⁴⁴ “David therefore calls him Lord, so how is he his son?”

⁴⁵Atunci a zis ucenicilor Săi, în auzul întregului norod:

⁴⁵In the hearing of all the people, he said to his disciples,

⁴⁶,,Păziţi-vă de cărturari, cărora le place să se plimbe în haine lungi, şi să le facă lumea plecăciuni prin pieţe; ei umblă după scaunele dintîi în sinagogi, şi după locurile dintîi la ospeţe;

⁴⁶ “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts;

⁴⁷şi casele văduvelor le mănîncă, în timp ce, de ochii lumii, fac rugăciuni lungi. De aceea vor lua o mai mare osîndă.``

⁴⁷ who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these will receive greater condemnation.”
