²Preoţii cei mai de seamă şi cărturarii căutau un mijloc cum să omoare pe Isus; căci se temeau de norod.

²The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.

³Dar Satana a intrat în Iuda, zis şi Iscarioteanul, care era din numărul celor doisprezece.

³Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered with the twelve.

⁴Iuda s'a dus să se înţeleagă cu preoţii cei mai de seamă şi cu căpeteniile străjerilor Templului cum să -L dea în mînile lor.

⁴He went away, and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them.

⁵Ei s'au bucurat, şi au căzut la învoială să -i dea bani.

⁵They were glad, and agreed to give him money.

⁶După ce le -a făgăduit că li -L va da în mîni, Iuda căuta un prilej nimerit să dea pe Isus în mînile lor, fără ştirea norodului.

⁶He consented, and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the multitude.

⁷Ziua praznicului Azimilor, în care trebuiau jertfite Paştele, a venit.

⁷The day of unleavened bread came, on which the Passover must be sacrificed.

⁸Şi Isus a trimes pe Petru şi pe Ioan, şi le -a zis: ,,Duceţi-vă de pregătiţi-ne Paştele, ca să mîncăm.``

⁸He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”

⁹,,Unde voieşti să pregătim?`` L-au întrebat ei.

⁹They said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare?”

¹⁰El le -a răspuns: ,,Iată, cînd veţi intra în cetate, vă va ieşi înainte un om, ducînd un ulcior cu apă; mergeţi după el în casa în care va intra,

¹⁰He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters.

¹¹şi spuneţi stăpînului casei: ,Învăţătorul îţi zice: Unde este odaia pentru oaspeţi, în care să mănînc Paştele cu ucenicii Mei?`

¹¹ Tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’

¹²Şi are să vă arate o odae mare de sus, aşternută gata: acolo să pregătiţi Paştele.``

¹² He will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make preparations there.”

¹³Ei au plecat, şi au găsit aşa cum le spusese El. Şi au pregătit Paştele.

¹³They went, found things as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

¹⁴Cînd a sosit ceasul, Isus a şezut la masă cu cei doisprezece apostoli.

¹⁴When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles.

¹⁵El le -a zis: ,,Am dorit mult să mănînc Paştele acestea cu voi înainte de patima Mea;

¹⁵He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,

¹⁶căci vă spun, că de acum încolo, nu le voi mai mînca, pînă la împlinirea lor în Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu.``

¹⁶ for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”

¹⁷Şi a luat un pahar, a mulţămit lui Dumnezeu, şi a zis: ,,Luaţi paharul acesta, şi împărţiţi -l între voi;

¹⁷He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this, and share it among yourselves,

¹⁸pentrucă vă spun că nu voi mai bea de acum încolo din rodul viţei, pănă cînd va veni Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu.``

¹⁸ for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until the Kingdom of God comes.”

¹⁹Apoi a luat pîne; şi, după ce a mulţămit lui Dumnezeu, a frînt -o, şi le -a dat -o zicînd: ,,Acesta este trupul Meu, care se dă pentru voi; să faceţi lucrul acesta spre pomenirea Mea.``

¹⁹He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”

²⁰Tot astfel, dupăce au mîncat, a luat paharul, şi li l -a dat, zicînd: ,,Acest pahar este legămîntul cel nou, făcut în sîngele Meu, care se varsă pentru voi.``

²⁰Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

²¹,,Dar iată că mîna vînzătorului Meu este cu Mine la masa aceasta.

²¹ But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.

²²Negreşit, Fiul omului Se duce, după cum este rînduit. Dar vai de omul acela prin care este vîndut El!``

²² The Son of Man indeed goes, as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!”

²³Şi au început să se întrebe unii pe alţii cine din ei să fie acela care va face lucrul acesta.

²³They began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.

²⁴Între apostoli s'a iscat şi o ceartă, ca să ştie care din ei avea să fie socotit ca cel mai mare?

²⁴There arose also a contention among them, which of them was considered to be greatest.

²⁵Isus le -a zis: ,,Împăraţii Neamurilor domnesc peste ele; şi celorce le stăpînesc, li se dă numele de binefăcători.

²⁵He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’

²⁶Voi să nu fiţi aşa. Ci cel mai mare dintre voi, să fie ca cel mai mic; şi celce cîrmuieşte, ca celce slujeşte.

²⁶ But not so with you. But one who is the greater among you, let him become as the younger, and one who is governing, as one who serves.

²⁷Căci care este mai mare: cine stă la masă, sau cine slujeşte la masă? Nu cine stă la masă? Şi Eu totuş, sînt în mijlocul vostru ca celce slujeşte la masă.

²⁷ For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Isn’t it he who sits at the table? But I am in the midst of you as one who serves.

²⁸Voi sînteţi aceia, cari aţi rămas necontenit cu Mine în încercările Mele.

²⁸ But you are those who have continued with me in my trials.

²⁹De aceea vă pregătesc Împărăţia, după cum Tatăl Meu Mi -a pregătit -o Mie,

²⁹ I confer on you a kingdom, even as my Father conferred on me,

³⁰ca să mîncaţi şi să beţi la masa Mea în Împărăţia Mea, şi să şedeţi pe scaune de domnie, ca să judecaţi pe cele douăsprezece seminţii ale lui Israel.``

³⁰ that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

³¹Domnul a zis: ,,Simone, Simone, Satana v'a cerut să vă cearnă ca grîul.

³¹The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat,

³²Dar Eu M'am rugat pentru tine, ca să nu se piardă credinţa ta; şi dupăce te vei întoarce la Dumnezeu, să întăreşti pe fraţii tăi.``

³² but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers The word for “brothers” here may be also correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” .”

³³,,Doamne``, I -a zis Petru, ,,cu Tine sînt gata să merg chiar şi în temniţă şi la moarte.``

³³He said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”

³⁴Şi Isus i -a zis: ,,Petre, îţi spun că nu va cînta astăzi cocoşul, pînă te vei lepăda de trei ori că nu Mă cunoşti.``

³⁴He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times.”

³⁵Apoi le -a mai zis: ,,Cînd v'am trimes fără pungă, fără traistă, şi fără încălţăminte, aţi dus voi lipsă de ceva? ,,De nimic``, I-au răspuns ei.

³⁵He said to them, “When I sent you out without purse, and wallet, and shoes, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”

³⁶Şi El le -a zis: ,,Acum, dimpotrivă, cine are o pungă, s'o ia; cine are o traistă, deasemenea s'o ia; şi cine n'are sabie, să-şi vîndă haina, şi să-şi cumpere o sabie.

³⁶Then he said to them, “But now, whoever has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet. Whoever has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.

³⁷Căci vă spun că trebuie să se împlinească cu Mine aceste cuvinte scrise: ,El a fost pus în numărul celor fărădelege.` Şi lucrurile privitoare la Mine, sînt gata să se împlinească.``

³⁷ For I tell you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: ‘He was counted with transgressors.’ Isaiah 53:12 For that which concerns me has an end.”

³⁸,,Doamne``, I-au zis ei, ,,iată aici două săbii.`` Şi El le -a zis: ,,Destul!``

³⁸They said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” He said to them, “That is enough.”

³⁹După ce a ieşit afară, S'a dus, ca de obicei, în muntele Măslinilor. Ucenicii Lui au mers după El.

³⁹He came out, and went, as his custom was, to the Mount of Olives. His disciples also followed him.

⁴⁰Cînd a ajuns la locul acela, le -a zis: ,,Rugaţi-vă, ca să nu cădeţi în ispită.``

⁴⁰When he was at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you don’t enter into temptation.”

⁴¹Apoi S'a depărtat de ei ca la o aruncătură de piatră, a îngenuncheat, şi a început să Se roage,

⁴¹He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and prayed,

⁴²zicînd: ,,Tată, dacă voieşti, depărtează paharul acesta dela Mine! Totuş, facă-se nu voia Mea, ci a Ta.``

⁴²saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

⁴³Atunci I s'a arătat un înger din cer, ca să -L întărească.

⁴³An angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.

⁴⁴A ajuns într'un chin ca de moarte, şi a început să Se roage şi mai fierbinte; şi sudoarea I se făcuse ca nişte picături mari de sînge, cari cădeau pe pămînt.

⁴⁴Being in agony he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.

⁴⁵După ce S'a rugat, S'a sculat, şi a venit la ucenici; i -a găsit adormiţi de întristare,

⁴⁵When he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping because of grief,

⁴⁶şi le -a zis: ,,Pentruce dormiţi? Sculaţi-vă şi rugaţi-vă, ca să nu cădeţi în ispită.``

⁴⁶and said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

⁴⁷Pe cînd grăia El încă, iată că a venit o gloată. Şi cel ce se chema Iuda, unul din cei doisprezece, mergea în fruntea lor. El s'a apropiat de Isus, ca să -L sărute.

⁴⁷While he was still speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He came near to Jesus to kiss him.

⁴⁸Şi Isus i -a zis: ,,Iudo, cu o sărutare vinzi tu pe Fiul omului?``

⁴⁸But Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”

⁴⁹Ceice erau cu Isus, au văzut ce avea să se întîmple, şi au zis: ,,Doamne, să lovim cu sabia?``

⁴⁹When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said to him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

⁵⁰Şi unul din ei a lovit pe robul marelui preot, şi i -a tăiat urechea dreaptă.

⁵⁰A certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

⁵¹Dar Isus a luat cuvîntul, şi a zis: ,,Lăsaţi -i! Pînă aici!`` Şi S'a atins de urechea omului aceluia, şi l -a vindecat.

⁵¹But Jesus answered, “Let me at least do this” —and he touched his ear, and healed him.

⁵²Isus a zis apoi preoţilor celor mai de seamă, căpeteniilor străjerilor Templului şi bătrînilor, cari veniseră împotriva Lui: ,,Aţi ieşit după Mine ca după un tîlhar, cu săbii şi cu ciomege?

⁵²Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders, who had come against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?

⁵³În toate zilele eram cu voi în Templu, şi n'aţi pus mîna pe Mine. Dar acesta este ceasul vostru şi puterea întunerecului.``

⁵³ When I was with you in the temple daily, you didn’t stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”

⁵⁴Dupăce au pus mîna pe Isus, L-au dus şi L-au băgat în casa marelui preot. Petru mergea după El de departe.

⁵⁴They seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed from a distance.

⁵⁵Au aprins un foc în mijlocul curţii şi au şezut jos. Petru s'a aşezat şi el printre ei.

⁵⁵When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard, and had sat down together, Peter sat among them.

⁵⁶O slujnică l -a văzut cum şedea la para focului, s'a uitat ţintă la el, şi a zis: ,,Şi omul acesta era cu El.``

⁵⁶A certain servant girl saw him as he sat in the light, and looking intently at him, said, “This man also was with him.”

⁵⁷Dar Petru s'a lepădat, şi a zis: ,,Femeie, nu -L cunosc.``

⁵⁷He denied Jesus, saying, “Woman, I don’t know him.”

⁵⁸Peste puţin, l -a văzut un altul şi a zis: ,,Şi tu eşti unul din oamenii aceia.`` Iar Petru a zis: ,,Omule, nu sînt dintre ei.``

⁵⁸After a little while someone else saw him, and said, “You also are one of them!” But Peter answered, “Man, I am not!”

⁵⁹Cam după un ceas, un altul întărea acelaş lucru, şi zicea: ,,Nu mai încape îndoială că şi omul acesta era cu El, căci este Galilean.``

⁵⁹After about one hour passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean!”

⁶⁰Petru a răspuns: ,,Omule, nu ştiu ce zici.`` Chiar în clipa aceea, pe cînd vorbea el încă, a cîntat cocoşul.

⁶⁰But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

⁶¹Domnul S'a întors, şi S'a uitat ţintă la Petru. Şi Petru şi -a adus aminte de vorba pe care i -o spusese Domnul: ,,Înainte ca să cînte cocoşul te vei lepăda de Mine de trei ori.``

⁶¹The Lord turned, and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Lord’s word, how he said to him, “Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times.”

⁶²Şi a ieşit afară, şi a plîns cu amar.

⁶²He went out, and wept bitterly.

⁶³Oamenii, cari păzeau pe Isus, Îl batjocoreau şi -L băteau.

⁶³The men who held Jesus mocked him and beat him.

⁶⁴L-au legat la ochi, Îl loveau peste faţă, şi -L întrebau, zicînd: ,,Prooroceşte, cine Te -a lovit?``

⁶⁴Having blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and asked him, “Prophesy! Who is the one who struck you?”

⁶⁵Şi rosteau împotriva Lui multe alte batjocori.

⁶⁵They spoke many other things against him, insulting him.

⁶⁶Cînd s'a făcut ziuă, bătrînii norodului, preoţii cei mai de seamă şi cărturarii s'au adunat împreună, şi au adus pe Isus în Soborul lor. Ei I-au zis:

⁶⁶As soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people was gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council, saying,

⁶⁷,,Dacă eşti Tu Hristosul, spune-ne!`` Isus le -a răspuns: ,,Dacă vă voi spune, nu veţi crede;

⁶⁷“If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you won’t believe,

⁶⁸şi dacă vă voi întreba, nu-Mi veţi răspunde, nici nu-Mi veţi da drumul.

⁶⁸ and if I ask, you will in no way answer me or let me go.

⁶⁹Deacum încolo, Fiul omului va şedea la dreapta puterii lui Dumnezeu.``

⁶⁹ From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”

⁷⁰Toţi au zis: ,,Eşti Tu dar Fiul lui Dumnezeu?`` Şi El le -a răspuns: ,,Aşa cum o spuneţi; da, sînt.``

⁷⁰They all said, “Are you then the Son of God?” He said to them, “You say it, because I am.”

⁷¹Atunci ei au zis: ,,Ce nevoie mai avem de mărturie? Noi înşine am auzit -o din gura Lui.``

⁷¹They said, “Why do we need any more witness? For we ourselves have heard from his own mouth!”
