¹Atunci nişte Farisei şi nişte cărturari din Ierusalim au venit la Isus, şi I-au zis:

¹Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,

²,,Pentru ce calcă ucenicii Tăi datina bătrînilor? Căci nu-şi spală mînile cînd mănîncă.``

²“Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat bread.”

³Drept răspuns, El le -a zis: ,,Dar voi de ce călcaţi porunca lui Dumnezeu în folosul datinei voastre?

³He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?

⁴Căci Dumnezeu a zis: ,Cinsteşte pe tatăl tău şi pe mama ta;` şi: ,Cine va grăi de rău pe tatăl său sau pe mama sa, să fie pedepsit negreşit cu moartea.`

⁴ For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16 and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’ Exodus 21:17; Leviticus 20:9

⁵Dar voi ziceţi: ,Cine va zice tatălui său sau mamei sale: ,Ori cu ce te-aş putea ajuta, l-am închinat lui Dumnezeu,`

⁵ But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,”

⁶nu mai este ţinut să cinstească pe tatăl său sau pe mama sa. Şi aţi desfiinţat astfel cuvîntul lui Dumnezeu în folosul datinei voastre.

⁶ he shall not honor his father or mother.’ You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.

⁷Făţărnicilor, bine a proorocit Isaia despre voi, cînd a zis:

⁷ You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,

⁸,Norodul acesta se apropie de Mine cu gura şi mă cinsteşte cu buzele, dar inima lui este departe de Mine.

⁸ ‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

⁹De geaba Mă cinstesc ei, învăţînd ca învăţături nişte porunci omeneşti.``

⁹ And in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’” Isaiah 29:13

¹⁰Isus a chemat mulţimea la Sine, şi a zis: ,,Ascultaţi, şi înţelegeţi:

¹⁰He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand.

¹¹Nu ce intră în gură spurcă pe om; ci ce iese din gură, aceea spurcă pe om.``

¹¹ That which enters into the mouth doesn’t defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”

¹²Atunci ucenicii Lui s'au apropiat, şi I-au zis: ,,Ştii că Fariseii au găsit pricină de poticnire în cuvintele, pe cari le-au auzit?``

¹²Then the disciples came, and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?”

¹³Drept răspuns, El le -a zis: ,,Orice răsad, pe care nu l -a sădit Tatăl Meu cel ceresc, va fi smuls din rădăcină.

¹³But he answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father didn’t plant will be uprooted.

¹⁴Lăsaţi -i: sînt nişte călăuze oarbe; şi cînd un orb călăuzeşte pe un alt orb, vor cădea amîndoi în groapă.``

¹⁴ Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

¹⁵Petru a luat cuvîntul, şi I -a zis: ,,Desluşeşte-ne pilda aceasta.``

¹⁵Peter answered him, “Explain the parable to us.”

¹⁶Isus a zis: ,,Şi voi tot fără pricepere sînteţi?

¹⁶So Jesus said, “Do you also still not understand?

¹⁷Nu înţelegeţi că orice intră în gură merge în pîntece, şi apoi este aruncat afară în hazna?

¹⁷ Don’t you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body?

¹⁸Dar, ce iese din gură, vine din inimă, şi aceea spurcă pe om.

¹⁸ But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man.

¹⁹Căci din inimă ies gîndurile rele, uciderile, preacurviile, curviile, furtişagurile, mărturiile mincinoase, hulele.

¹⁹ For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.

²⁰Iată lucrurile cari spurcă pe om; dar a mînca cu mînile nespălate nu spurcă pe om.``

²⁰ These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn’t defile the man.”

²¹Isus, după ce a plecat de acolo, S'a dus în părţile Tirului şi ale Sidonului.

²¹Jesus went out from there, and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.

²²Şi iată că o femeie cananeancă, a venit din ţinuturile acelea, şi a început să strige către El: ,,Ai milă de mine, Doamne, Fiul lui David! Fiică-mea este muncită rău de un drac.``

²²Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David! My daughter is severely demonized!”

²³El nu i -a răspuns nici un cuvînt. Şi ucenicii Lui s'au apropiat şi L-au rugat stăruitor: ,,Dă -i drumul, căci strigă după noi.``

²³But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away; for she cries after us.”

²⁴Drept răspuns, El a zis: ,,Eu nu sînt trimes decît la oile pierdute ale casei lui Israel.``

²⁴But he answered, “I wasn’t sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

²⁵Dar ea a venit şi I s'a închinat, zicînd: ,,Doamne, ajută-mi!``

²⁵But she came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”

²⁶Drept răspuns, El i -a zis: ,,Nu este bine să iei pînea copiilor, şi s'o arunci la căţei!``

²⁶But he answered, “It is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”

²⁷,,Da, Doamne``, a zis ea, ,,dar şi căţeii mănîncă fărămiturile cari cad de la masa stăpînilor lor.``

²⁷But she said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

²⁸Atunci Isus i -a zis: ,,O, femeie, mare este credinţa Ta; facă-ţi-se cum voieşti.`` Şi fiica ei s'a tămăduit chiar în ceasul acela.

²⁸Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.

²⁹Isus a plecat din locurile acelea, şi a venit lîngă marea Galileii. S'a suit pe munte, şi a şezut jos acolo.

²⁹Jesus departed there, and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there.

³⁰Atunci au venit la El multe noroade, avînd cu ele şchiopi, orbi, muţi, ciungi, şi mulţi alţi bolnavi I-au pus la picioarele Lui, şi El i -a tămăduit;

³⁰Great multitudes came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,

³¹aşa că noroadele se mirau, cînd au văzut că muţii vorbesc, ciungii se însănătoşează, şchopii umblă şi orbii văd; şi slăveau pe Dumnezeul lui Israel.

³¹so that the multitude wondered when they saw the mute speaking, injured whole, lame walking, and blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel.

³²Isus a chemat pe ucenicii Săi, şi le -a zis: ,,Mi-este milă de gloata aceasta; căci iată că de trei zile aşteaptă lîngă Mine, şi n'au ce mînca. Nu vreau să le dau drumul flămînzi, ca nu cumva să leşine de foame pe drum.``

³²Jesus summoned his disciples and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way.”

³³Ucenicii I-au zis: ,,De unde să luăm în pustia aceasta atîtea pîni ca să săturăm atîta gloată?``

³³The disciples said to him, “Where should we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a multitude?”

³⁴,,Cîte pîni aveţi?`` i -a întrebat Isus. ,,Şapte``, I-au răspuns ei, ,,şi puţini peştişori``

³⁴Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”

³⁵Atunci Isus a poruncit norodului să şadă pe pămînt.

³⁵He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;

³⁶A luat cele şapte pîni şi peştişorii, şi, dupăce a mulţămit lui Dumnezeu, a frînt, şi a dat ucenicilor, iar ucenicii au împărţit norodului.

³⁶and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.

³⁷Au mîncat toţi şi s'au săturat; şi s'au ridicat şapte coşniţe pline cu rămăşiţele de fărămituri.

³⁷They all ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.

³⁸Cei ce mîncaseră erau patru mii de bărbaţi, afară de femei şi de copii.

³⁸Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.

³⁹În urmă Isus a dat drumul noroadelor, S'a suit în corabie, şi a trecut în ţinutul Magdalei.

³⁹Then he sent away the multitudes, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.
