¹Fariseii şi Saducheii s'au apropiat de Isus, şi, ca să -L ispitească, I-au cerut să le arate un semn din cer.

¹The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing him, asked him to show them a sign from heaven.

²Drept răspuns, Isus le -a zis: ,,Cînd se înserează, voi ziceţi: ,Are să fie vreme frumoasă, căci cerul este roş.`

²But he answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’

³Şi dimineaţa, ziceţi: ,Astăzi are să fie furtună, căci cerul este roş-posomorît.` Făţarnicilor, faţa cerului ştiţi s'o deosebiţi, şi semnele vremurilor nu le puteţi deosebi?

³ In the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but you can’t discern the signs of the times!

⁴Un neam viclean şi prea curvar cere un semn; nu i se va da alt semn decît semnul proorocului Iona.`` Apoi i -a lăsat şi a plecat.

⁴ An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and there will be no sign given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” He left them, and departed.

⁵Ucenicii trecuseră de cealaltă parte, şi uitaseră să ia pîni.

⁵The disciples came to the other side and had forgotten to take bread.

⁶Isus le -a zis: ,,Luaţi seama şi păziţi-vă de aluatul Fariseilor şi al Saducheilor.``

⁶Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

⁷Ucenicii se gîndeau în ei, şi ziceau: ,,Ne zice aşa pentrucă n'am luat pîni!``

⁷They reasoned among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.”

⁸Isus, care cunoştea lucrul acesta, le -a zis: ,,Puţin credincioşilor, pentruce vă gîndiţi că n'aţi luat pîni?

⁸Jesus, perceiving it, said, “Why do you reason among yourselves, you of little faith, ‘because you have brought no bread?’

⁹Tot nu înţelegeţi? Şi nici nu vă mai aduceţi aminte de cele cinci pîni pentru cei cinci mii de oameni, şi cîte coşuri aţi ridicat?

⁹ Don’t you yet perceive, neither remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

¹⁰Nici de cele şapte pîni pentru cei patru mii de oameni, şi cîte coşniţe aţi ridicat?

¹⁰ Nor the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

¹¹Cum nu înţelegeţi că nu v'am spus de pîni? Ci v'am spus să vă păziţi de aluatul Fariseilor şi al Saducheilor?``

¹¹ How is it that you don’t perceive that I didn’t speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

¹²Atunci au înţeles ei că nu le zisese să se păzească de aluatul pînii, ci de învăţătura Fariseilor şi a Saducheilor.

¹²Then they understood that he didn’t tell them to beware of the yeast of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

¹³Isus a venit în părţile Cezareii lui Filip, şi a întrebat pe ucenicii Săi: ,,Cine zic oamenii că sînt Eu, Fiul omului?``

¹³Now when Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”

¹⁴Ei au răspuns: ,,Unii zic că eşti Ioan Botezătorul; alţii: Ilie; alţii: Ieremia, sau unul din prooroci.``

¹⁴They said, “Some say John the Baptizer, some, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”

¹⁵,,Dar voi``, le -a zis El, ,,cine ziceţi că sînt?``

¹⁵He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

¹⁶Simon Petru, drept răspuns, I -a zis: ,,Tu eşti Hristosul, Fiul Dumnezeului celui viu!``

¹⁶Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

¹⁷Isus a luat din nou cuvîntul, şi i -a zis: ,,Ferice de tine, Simone, fiul lui Iona; fiindcă nu carnea şi sîngele ţi -a descoperit lucrul acesta, ci Tatăl Meu care este în ceruri.

¹⁷Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

¹⁸Şi Eu îţi spun: tu eşti Petru (Greceşte: Petros.), şi pe această piatră (Greceşte: petra.) voi zidi Biserica Mea, şi porţile Locuinţei morţilor nu o vor birui.

¹⁸ I also tell you that you are Peter, Peter’s name, Petros in Greek, is the word for a specific rock or stone. and on this rock Greek, petra, a rock mass or bedrock. I will build my assembly, and the gates of Hades or, Hell will not prevail against it.

¹⁹Îţi voi da cheile Împărăţiei cerurilor, şi orice vei lega pe pămînt, va fi legat în ceruri, şi orice vei deslega pe pămînt, va fi deslegat în ceruri.``

¹⁹ I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven; and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven.”

²⁰Atunci a poruncit ucenicilor Săi să nu spună nimănui că El este Hristosul.

²⁰Then he commanded the disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.

²¹De atunci încolo, Isus a început să spună ucenicilor Săi că El trebuie să meargă la Ierusalim, să pătimească mult din partea bătrînilor, din partea preoţilor celor mai de seamă şi din partea cărturarilor; că are să fie omorît, şi că a treia zi are să învieze.

²¹From that time, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.

²²Petru L -a luat de oparte, şi a început să -L mustre, zicînd: ,,Să Te ferească Dumnezeu, Doamne! Să nu Ţi se întîmple aşa ceva!``

²²Peter took him aside, and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This will never be done to you.”

²³Dar Isus S'a întors, şi a zis lui Petru: ,,Înapoia Mea, Satano: tu eşti o piatră de poticnire pentru Mine! Căci gîndurile tale nu sînt gîndurile lui Dumnezeu, ci gînduri de ale oamenilor.``

²³But he turned, and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men.”

²⁴Atunci Isus a zis ucenicilor Săi: ,,Dacă voieşte cineva să vină după Mine, să se lepede de sine, să-şi ia crucea, şi să Mă urmeze.

²⁴Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

²⁵Pentrucă oricine va vrea să-şi scape viaţa, o va pierde; dar oricine îşi va pierde viaţa pentru Mine, o va cîştiga.

²⁵ For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.

²⁶Şi ce ar folosi unui om să cîştige toată lumea, dacă şi-ar pierde sufletul? Sau, ce ar da un om în schimb pentru sufletul său?

²⁶ For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?

²⁷Căci Fiul omului are să vină în slava Tatălui Său, cu îngerii Săi; şi atunci va răsplăti fiecăruia după faptele lui.

²⁷ For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to everyone according to his deeds.

²⁸Adevărat vă spun că unii din cei ce stau aici nu vor gusta moartea pînă nu vor vedea pe Fiul omului venind în Împărăţia Sa.``

²⁸ Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death, until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”
