¹După şase zile, Isus a luat cu El pe Petru, Iacov şi Ioan, fratele lui, şi i -a dus la o parte pe un munte înalt.

¹After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain by themselves.

²El S'a schimbat la faţă înaintea lor; faţa Lui a strălucit ca soarele, şi hainele I s'au făcut albe ca lumina.

²He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as white as the light.

³Şi iatăcă li s'a arătat Moise şi Ilie, stînd de vorbă cu El.

³Behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with him.

⁴Petru a luat cuvîntul, şi a zis lui Isus: ,,Doamne, este bine să fim aici; dacă vrei, am să fac aici trei colibi: una pentru Tine, una pentru Moise şi una pentru Ilie.``

⁴Peter answered, and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, let’s make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

⁵Pe cînd vorbea el încă, iată că i -a acoperit un nor luminos cu umbra lui. Şi din nor s'a auzit un glas, care zicea: ,,Acesta este Fiul Meu prea iubit, în care Îmi găsesc plăcerea Mea: de El să ascultaţi!``

⁵While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. Behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”

⁶Cînd au auzit, ucenicii au căzut cu feţele la pămînt, şi s'au înspăimîntat foarte tare.

⁶When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were very afraid.

⁷Dar Isus S'a apropiat, S'a atins de ei, şi le -a zis: ,,Sculaţi-vă, nu vă temeţi!``

⁷Jesus came and touched them and said, “Get up, and don’t be afraid.”

⁸Ei au ridicat ochii, şi n'au văzut pe nimeni, decît pe Isus singur.

⁸Lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus alone.

⁹Pe cînd se coborau din munte, Isus le -a dat porunca următoare: ,,Să nu spuneţi nimărui de vedenia aceasta, pînă va învia Fiul omului din morţi.``

⁹As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Don’t tell anyone what you saw, until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.”

¹⁰Ucenicii I-au pus întrebarea următoare: ,,Oare de ce zic cărturarii că întîi trebuie să vină Ilie?``

¹⁰His disciples asked him, saying, “Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

¹¹Drept răspuns, Isus le -a zis: ,,Este adevărat că trebuie să vină întîi Ilie, şi să aşeze din nou toate lucrurile.

¹¹Jesus answered them, “Elijah indeed comes first, and will restore all things,

¹²Dar vă spun că Ilie a şi venit, şi ei nu l-au cunoscut, ci au făcut cu el ce au vrut. Tot aşa are să sufere şi Fiul omului din partea lor.``

¹² but I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they didn’t recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted to. Even so the Son of Man will also suffer by them.”

¹³Ucenicii au înţeles atunci că le vorbise despre Ioan Botezătorul.

¹³Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptizer.

¹⁴Cînd au ajuns la norod, a venit un om, care a căzut în genunchi înaintea lui Isus, şi I -a zis:

¹⁴When they came to the multitude, a man came to him, kneeling down to him, saying,

¹⁵,,Doamne, ai milă de fiul meu, căci este lunatic, şi pătimeşte rău: de multe ori cade în foc, şi de multe ori cade în apă.

¹⁵“Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is epileptic, and suffers grievously; for he often falls into the fire, and often into the water.

¹⁶L-am adus la ucenicii Tăi, şi n'au putut să -l vindece.``

¹⁶So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him.”

¹⁷,,O, neam necredincios şi pornit la rău!`` a răspuns Isus. ,,Pînă cînd voi fi cu voi? Pînă cînd vă voi suferi? Aduceţi -l aici la Mine.``

¹⁷Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation! How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me.”

¹⁸Isus a certat dracul, care a ieşit afară din el. Şi băiatul s'a tămăduit chiar în ceasul acela.

¹⁸Jesus rebuked him, the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour.

¹⁹Atunci ucenicii au venit la Isus, şi I-au zis, deoparte: ,,Noi de ce n'am putut să -l scoatem?``

¹⁹Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, “Why weren’t we able to cast it out?”

²⁰,,Din pricina puţinei voastre credinţe``, le -a zis Isus. ,,Adevărat vă spun că, dacă aţi avea credinţă cît un grăunte de muştar, aţi zice muntelui acestuia: ,Mută-te de aici colo`, şi s'ar muta; nimic nu v'ar fi cu neputinţă.

²⁰He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

²¹Dar acest soi de draci nu iese afară decît cu rugăciune şi cu post.``

²¹ But this kind doesn’t go out except by prayer and fasting.”

²²Pe cînd stăteau în Galilea, Isus le -a zis: ,,Fiul omului trebuie să fie dat în mînile oamenilor.

²²While they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men,

²³Ei Îl vor omorî, dar a treia zi va învia.`` Ucenicii s'au întristat foarte mult.

²³ and they will kill him, and the third day he will be raised up.” They were exceedingly sorry.

²⁴Cînd au ajuns în Capernaum, ceice strîngeau darea pentru Templu (Greceşte: Cele două drahme.) au venit la Petru, şi i-au zis: ,,Învăţătorul vostru nu plăteşte darea?``

²⁴When they had come to Capernaum, those who collected the didrachma coins A didrachma is a Greek silver coin worth 2 drachmas, about as much as 2 Roman denarii, or about 2 days’ wages. It was commonly used to pay the half-shekel temple tax, because 2 drachmas were worth one half shekel of silver. came to Peter, and said, “Doesn’t your teacher pay the didrachma?”

²⁵,,Ba da``, a zis Petru. Şi cînd a intrat în casă, Isus i -a luat înainte, şi i -a zis: ,,Ce crezi, Simone? Împăraţii pămîntului dela cine iau dări sau biruri? Dela fiii lor sau dela străini?``

²⁵He said, “Yes.” When he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth receive toll or tribute? From their children, or from strangers?”

²⁶Petru I -a răspuns: ,,Dela străini.`` Şi Isus i -a zis: ,,Aşa dar fiii sînt scutiţi.

²⁶Peter said to him, “From strangers.” Jesus said to him, “Therefore the children are exempt.

²⁷Dar, ca să nu -i facem să păcătuiască, du-te la mare, aruncă undiţa, şi trage afară peştele care va veni întîi; deschide -i gura, şi vei găsi în ea o rublă (Greceşte: Un statir.) pe care ia -o şi dă-le -o lor, pentru Mine şi pentru tine.``

²⁷ But, lest we cause them to stumble, go to the sea, cast a hook, and take up the first fish that comes up. When you have opened its mouth, you will find a stater coin. A stater is a silver coin equivalent to four Attic or two Alexandrian drachmas, or a Jewish shekel: just exactly enough to cover the half-shekel temple tax for two people. Take that, and give it to them for me and you.”
