¹Cînd a văzut Isus noroadele, S'a suit pe munte; şi dupăce a şezut jos, ucenicii Lui s'au apropiat de El.

¹Seeing the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain. When he had sat down, his disciples came to him.

²Apoi a început să vorbească şi să -i înveţe astfel:

²He opened his mouth and taught them, saying,

³Ferice de cei săraci în duh, căci a lor este Împărăţia cerurilor!

³ “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Isaiah 57:15; 66:2

⁴Ferice de ceice plîng, căci ei vor fi mîngîiaţi!

⁴ Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Isaiah 61:2; 66:10,13

⁵Ferice de cei blînzi, căci ei vor moşteni pămîntul!

⁵ Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. or, land. Psalm 37:11

⁶Ferice de cei flămînzi şi însetaţi după neprihănire, căci ei vor fi săturaţi!

⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

⁷Ferice de cei milostivi, căci ei vor avea parte de milă!

⁷ Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

⁸Ferice de cei cu inima curată, căci ei vor vedea pe Dumnezeu!

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

⁹Ferice de cei împăciuitori, căci ei vor fi chemaţi fii ai lui Dumnezeu!

⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.

¹⁰Ferice de cei prigoniţi din pricina neprihănirii, căci a lor este Împărăţia cerurilor!

¹⁰ Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

¹¹Ferice va fi de voi cînd, din pricina Mea, oamenii vă vor ocărî, vă vor prigoni, şi vor spune tot felul de lucruri rele şi neadevărate împotriva voastră!

¹¹ “Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

¹²Bucuraţi-vă şi veseliţi-vă, pentrucă răsplata voastră este mare în ceruri; căci tot aşa au prigonit pe proorocii, cari au fost înainte de voi.

¹² Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

¹³Voi sînteţi sarea pămîntului. Dar dacă sarea îşi pierde gustul, prin ce îşi va căpăta iarăş puterea de a săra? Atunci nu mai este bună la nimic decît să fie lepădată afară, şi călcată în picioare de oameni.

¹³ “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

¹⁴Voi sînteţi lumina lumii. O cetate aşezată pe un munte, nu poate să rămînă ascunsă.

¹⁴ You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.

¹⁵Şi oamenii n'aprind lumina ca s'o pună supt obroc, ci o pun în sfeşnic, şi luminează tuturor celor din casă.

¹⁵ Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.

¹⁶Tot aşa să lumineze şi lumina voastră înaintea oamenilor, ca ei să vadă faptele voastre bune, şi să slăvească pe Tatăl vostru, care este în ceruri.

¹⁶ Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

¹⁷Să nu credeţi că am venit să stric Legea sau Proorocii; am venit nu să stric, ci să împlinesc.

¹⁷ “Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.

¹⁸Căci adevărat vă spun, cîtă vreme nu va trece cerul şi pămîntul, nu va trece o iotă sau o frîntură de slovă din Lege, înainte ca să se fi întîmplat toate lucrurile.

¹⁸ For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter literally, iota or one tiny pen stroke or, serif shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished.

¹⁹Aşa că, ori cine va strica una din cele mai mici din aceste porunci, şi va învăţa pe oameni aşa, va fi chemat cel mai mic în Împărăţia cerurilor; dar oricine le va păzi, şi va învăţa pe alţii să le păzească, va fi chemat mare în Împărăţia cerurilor.

¹⁹ Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

²⁰Căci vă spun că, dacă neprihănirea voastră nu va întrece neprihănirea cărturarilor şi a Fariseilor, cu niciun chip nu veţi intra în Împărăţia cerurilor.

²⁰ For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

²¹Aţi auzit că s'a zis celor din vechime: ,Să nu ucizi; oricine va ucide, va cădea supt pedeapsa judecăţii.`

²¹ “You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ Exodus 20:13 and ‘Whoever shall murder shall be in danger of the judgment.’

²²Dar Eu vă spun că ori şi cine se mînie pe fratele său, va cădea supt pedeapsa judecăţii; şi oricine va zice fratelui său: ,Prostule!` va cădea supt pedeapsa Soborului; iar oricine -i va zice: ,Nebunule`, va cădea supt pedeapsa focului gheenei.

²² But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause NU omits “without a cause”. shall be in danger of the judgment; and whoever shall say to his brother, ‘Raca “Raca” is an Aramaic insult, related to the word for “empty” and conveying the idea of empty-headedness. !’ shall be in danger of the council; and whoever shall say, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of the fire of Gehenna. or, Hell

²³Aşa că, dacă îţi aduci darul la altar, şi acolo îţi aduci aminte că fratele tău are ceva împotriva ta,

²³ “If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,

²⁴lasă-ţi darul acolo înaintea altarului, şi du-te întîi de împacă-te cu fratele tău; apoi vino de adu-ţi darul.

²⁴ leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

²⁵Caută de te împacă de grab cu pîrîşul tău, cîtă vreme eşti cu el pe drum; ca nu cumva pîrîşul să te dea pe mîna judecătorului, judecătorul să te dea pe mîna temnicerului, şi să fii aruncat în temniţă.

²⁵ Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him in the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.

²⁶Adevărat îţi spun că nu vei ieşi deacolo pînă nu vei plăti cel din urmă bănuţ.``

²⁶ Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there, until you have paid the last penny. literally, kodrantes. A kodrantes was a small copper coin worth about 2 lepta (widow’s mites)—not enough to buy very much of anything.

²⁸Dar Eu vă spun că ori şi cine se uită la o femeie, ca s'o poftească, a şi preacurvit cu ea în inima lui.

²⁸ but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

²⁹Dacă deci ochiul tău cel drept te face să cazi în păcat, scoate -l şi leapădă -l dela tine; căci este spre folosul tău să piară unul din mădularele tale, şi să nu-ţi fie aruncat tot trupul în gheenă.

²⁹ If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. or, Hell

³⁰Dacă mîna ta cea dreaptă te face să cazi în păcat, taie -o şi leapădă -o dela tine; căci este spre folosul tău să piară unul din mădularele tale, şi să nu-ţi fie aruncat tot trupul în gheenă.

³¹S'a zis iarăş: ,,Oricine îşi va lăsa nevasta, să -i dea o carte de despărţire.``

³¹ “It was also said, ‘Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,’ Deuteronomy 24:1

³²Dar Eu vă spun că ori şi cine îşi va lăsa nevasta, afară numai de pricină de curvie, îi dă prilej să preacurvească; şi cine va lua de nevastă pe cea lăsată de bărbat, preacurveşte.

³² but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.

³³Aţi mai auzit iarăş că s'a zis celor din vechime: ,,Să nu juri strîmb; ci să împlineşti faţă de Domnul jurămintele tale.``

³³ “Again you have heard that it was said to them of old time, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,’

³⁴Dar Eu vă spun: Să nu juraţi nicidecum; nici pe cer, pentru că este scaunul de domnie al lui Dumnezeu;

³⁴ but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;

³⁵nici pe pămînt, pentru că este aşternutul picioarelor Lui; nici pe Ierusalim, pentrucă este cetatea marelui Împărat.

³⁵ nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

³⁶Să nu juri nici pe capul tău, căci nu poţi face un singur păr alb sau negru.

³⁶ Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.

³⁷Felul vostru de vorbire să fie: ,,Da, da; nu, nu``; ce trece peste aceste cuvinte, vine dela cel rău.

³⁷ But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.

³⁸Aţi auzit că s'a zis: ,,Ochi pentru ochi, şi dinte pentru dinte.``

³⁸ “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ Exodus 21:24; Leviticus 24:20; Deuteronomy 19:21

³⁹Dar Eu vă spun: Să nu vă împotriviţi celui ce vă face rău. Ci, oricui te loveşte peste obrazul drept, întoarce -i şi pe celalt.

³⁹ But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

⁴⁰Orişicui vrea să se judece cu tine, şi să-ţi ia haina, lasă -i şi cămaşa.

⁴⁰ If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.

⁴¹Dacă te sileşte cineva să mergi cu el o milă de loc, mergi cu el două.

⁴¹ Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

⁴²Celui ce-ţi cere, dă -i; şi nu întoarce spatele celui ce vrea să se împrumute dela tine.

⁴² Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you.

⁴³Aţi auzit că s'a zis: ,,Să iubeşti pe aproapele tău, şi să urăşti pe vrăjmaşul tău.``

⁴³ “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor, Leviticus 19:18 and hate your enemy. not in the Bible, but see Qumran Manual of Discipline Ix, 21-26 ’

⁴⁴Dar Eu vă spun: Iubiţi pe vrăjmaşii voştri, binecuvîntaţi pe cei ce vă blastămă, faceţi bine celorce vă urăsc, şi rugaţi-vă pentru ceice vă asupresc şi vă prigonesc,

⁴⁴ But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,

⁴⁵ca să fiţi fii ai Tatălui vostru care este în ceruri; căci El face să răsară soarele Său peste cei răi şi peste cei buni, şi dă ploaie peste cei drepţi şi peste cei nedrepţi.

⁴⁵ that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.

⁴⁶Dacă iubiţi numai pe cei ce vă iubesc, ce răsplată mai aşteptaţi? Nu fac aşa şi vameşii?

⁴⁶ For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?

⁴⁷Şi dacă îmbrăţişaţi cu dragoste numai pe fraţii voştri, ce lucru neobicinuit faceţi? Oare păgînii nu fac la fel?

⁴⁷ If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors NU reads “Gentiles” instead of “tax collectors”. do the same?

⁴⁸Voi fiţi dar desăvîrşiţi, după cum şi Tatăl vostru cel ceresc este desăvîrşit.

⁴⁸ Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
