²Domnul este un Dumnezeu gelos şi răzbunător; Domnul Se răzbună şi este plin de mînie; Domnul Se răzbună pe protivnicii Lui, şi ţine mînie pe vrăjmaşii Lui.

² Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. is a jealous God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” and avenges. Yahweh avenges and is full of wrath. Yahweh takes vengeance on his adversaries, and he maintains wrath against his enemies.

³Domnul este îndelung răbdător, dar de o mare tărie; şi nu lasă nepedepsit pe cel rău. Domnul umblă în furtună şi în vîrtej, şi norii sînt praful picioarelor Lui.

³Yahweh is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. Yahweh has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

⁴El mustră marea şi o usucă, face să sece toate rîurile; Basanul şi Carmelul tînjesc, şi floarea Libanului se vestejeşte.

⁴He rebukes the sea, and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan languishes, and Carmel; and the flower of Lebanon languishes.

⁵Se clatină munţii înaintea Lui, şi dealurile se topesc; se cutremură pămîntul înaintea Lui, lumea şi toţi locuitorii ei.

⁵The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it.

⁶Cine poate sta înaintea urgiei Lui? Şi cine poate ţinea piept mîniei Lui aprinse? Urgia Lui se varsă ca focul, şi se prăbuşesc stîncile înaintea Lui.

⁶Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the fierceness of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken apart by him.

⁷Domnul este bun, El este un loc de scăpare în ziua necazului; şi cunoaşte pe cei ce se încred în El.

⁷Yahweh is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who take refuge in him.

⁸Dar cu nişte valuri ce se varsă peste mal, va nimici cetatea Ninive, şi va urmări pe vrăjmaşii Lui pînă în întunerec.

⁸But with an overflowing flood, he will make a full end of her place, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.

⁹Ce planuri faceţi voi împotriva Domnului? El le zădărniceşte! Nenorocirea nu va veni de două ori.

⁹What do you plot against Yahweh? He will make a full end. Affliction won’t rise up the second time.

¹⁰Căci vor fi ca nişte mănunchiuri de spini încîlciţi, şi tocmai cînd vor fi beţi de vinul lor, vor fi mistuiţi de foc, ca o mirişte de tot uscată.

¹⁰For entangled like thorns, and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly like dry stubble.

¹¹Din tine, Ninive, a ieşit cel ce urzea rele împotriva Domnului, celce făcea planuri răutăcioase.

¹¹There is one gone forth out of you, who devises evil against Yahweh, who counsels wickedness.

¹²Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ,,Oricît de mulţi şi puternici vor fi, toţi vor fi seceraţi şi vor pieri. Chiar dacă te-am întristat, Ierusalime, nu te voi mai întrista...

¹²Thus says Yahweh: “Though they be in full strength, and likewise many, even so they will be cut down, and he shall pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.

¹³Ci îi voi sfărîma jugul acum de pe tine, şi-ţi voi rupe legăturile...``

¹³Now will I break his yoke from off you, and will burst your bonds apart.”

¹⁴Iată ce a poruncit însă Domnul împotriva ta, Asur: ,,Nu vei mai avea urmaşi cari să-ţi poarte numele; voi ridica din casa dumnezeului tău chipurile cioplite sau turnate; îţi voi pregăti mormîntul, căci te-ai aflat prea uşor.``

¹⁴Yahweh has commanded concerning you: “No more descendants will bear your name. Out of the house of your gods, will I cut off the engraved image and the molten image. I will make your grave, for you are vile.”

¹⁵Iată pe munţi picioarele solului care vesteşte pacea! Prăznuieşte-ţi sărbătorile, Iudo, împlineşte-ţi juruinţele! Căci cel rău nu va mai trece prin mijlocul tău, este nimicit cu desăvîrşire...

¹⁵Behold, on the mountains the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace! Keep your feasts, Judah! Perform your vows, for the wicked one will no more pass through you. He is utterly cut off.
