¹(Către mai marele cîntăreţilor. Un psalm al lui David.) Doamne, Tu mă cercetezi de aproape şi mă cunoşti,

¹Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me.

²ştii cînd stau jos şi cînd mă scol, şi de departe îmi pătrunzi gîndul.

²You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar.

³Ştii cînd umblu şi cînd mă culc, şi cunoşti toate căile mele.

³You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

⁴Căci nu-mi ajunge cuvîntul pe limbă, şi Tu, Doamne, îl şi cunoşti în totul.

⁴For there is not a word on my tongue, but, behold, Yahweh, you know it altogether.

⁵Tu mă înconjori pe dinapoi şi pe dinainte, şi-Ţi pui mîna peste mine.

⁵You hem me in behind and before. You laid your hand on me.

⁶O ştiinţă atît de minunată este mai pe sus de puterile mele: este prea înaltă ca s'o pot prinde.

⁶This knowledge is beyond me. It’s lofty. I can’t attain it.

⁷Unde mă voi duce departe de Duhul Tău, şi unde voi fugi departe de Faţa Ta?

⁷Where could I go from your Spirit? Or where could I flee from your presence?

⁸Dacă mă voi sui în cer, Tu eşti acolo; dacă mă voi culca în locuinţa morţilor, iată-Te şi acolo;

⁸If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. , behold, you are there!

⁹Dacă voi lua aripile zorilor, şi mă voi duce să locuiesc la marginea mării,

⁹If I take the wings of the dawn, and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea;

¹⁰şi acolo mîna Ta mă va călăuzi, şi dreapta Ta mă va apuca.

¹⁰Even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me.

¹¹Dacă voi zice: ,,Cel puţin întunerecul mă va acoperi, -şi se va face noapte lumina dimprejurul meu!``

¹¹If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me; the light around me will be night”;

¹²Iată că nici chiar întunerecul nu este întunecos pentru Tine; ci noaptea străluceşte ca ziua, şi întunerecul ca lumina.

¹²even the darkness doesn’t hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you.

¹³Tu mi-ai întocmit rărunchii, Tu m'ai ţesut în pîntecele mamei mele:

¹³For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb.

¹⁴Te laud că sînt o făptură aşa de minunată. Minunate sînt lucrările Tale, şi ce bine vede sufletul meu lucrul acesta!

¹⁴I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.

¹⁵Trupul meu nu era ascuns de Tine, cînd am fost făcut într'un loc tainic, ţesut în chip ciudat, ca în adîncimile pămîntului.

¹⁵My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth.

¹⁶Cînd nu eram decît un plod fără chip, ochii Tăi mă vedeau; şi în cartea Ta erau scrise toate zilele cari-mi erau rînduite, mai înainte de a fi fost vreuna din ele.

¹⁶Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them.

¹⁷Cît de nepătrunse mi se par gîndurile Tale, Dumnezeule, şi cît de mare este numărul lor!

¹⁷How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is their sum!

¹⁸Dacă le număr, sînt mai multe decît boabele de nisip. Cînd mă trezesc, sînt tot cu Tine.

¹⁸If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you.

¹⁹O, Dumnezeule, de ai ucide pe cel rău! Depărtaţi-vă dela mine, oameni setoşi de sînge!

¹⁹If only you, God, would kill the wicked. Get away from me, you bloodthirsty men!

²⁰Ei vorbesc despre Tine în chip nelegiuit, Îţi iau Numele ca să mintă, ei, vrăjmaşii Tăi!

²⁰For they speak against you wickedly. Your enemies take your name in vain.

²¹Să nu urăsc eu, Doamne, pe cei ce Te urăsc, şi să nu-mi fie scîrbă de cei ce se ridică împotriva Ta?

²¹Yahweh, don’t I hate those who hate you? Am I not grieved with those who rise up against you?

²²Da, îi urăsc cu o ură desăvîrşită; îi privesc ca pe vrăjmaşi ai mei.

²²I hate them with perfect hatred. They have become my enemies.

²³Cercetează-mă, Dumnezeule, şi cunoaşte-mi inima! Încearcă-mă, şi cunoaşte-mi gîndurile!

²³Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts.

²⁴Vezi dacă sînt pe o cale rea, şi du-mă pe calea veciniciei!

²⁴See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.
