1Ale to vedz, že v posledných dňoch nastanú nebezpečné časy.
1And this know thou, that in the last days there shall come perilous times,
2Lebo to budú ľudia, ktorí budú milovať seba, milovať peniaze, chlúbiví, pyšní, rúhaví, rodičom neposlušní, nevďační, bohaprázdni,
2for men shall be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, evil-speakers, to parents disobedient, unthankful, unkind,
3bez lásky, nesmierliví, pomluvační, nezdržanliví, divokí, nemilujúci dobrého,
3without natural affection, implacable, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, not lovers of those who are good,
4zradní, náhli, nadutí, viacej milujúci rozkoše ako milujúci Boha,
4traitors, heady, lofty, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God,
5ktorí majú tvárnosť pobožnosti, ktorí však jej moc zapreli. A tých sa stráň.
5having a form of piety, and its power having denied; and from these be turning away,
6Lebo z tých sú tí, ktorí vnikajú do domov a zajímajú žienky, obťažené hromadou hriechov, vedené rozličnými žiadosťami,
6for of these there are those coming into the houses and leading captive the silly women, laden with sins, led away with desires manifold,
7ktoré sa vždycky učia, ale nikdy nemôžu prijsť k poznaniu pravdy.
7always learning, and never to a knowledge of truth able to come,
8A jako čo Jannes a Jambres sa postavili proti Mojžišovi, tak sa aj títo staväjú proti pravde, ľudia, zkazení na mysli, nedokázaní čo do viery.
8and, even as Jannes and Jambres stood against Moses, so also these do stand against the truth, men corrupted in mind, disapproved concerning the faith;
9Ale ďalej nepostúpia, lebo ich nerozum bude zrejmý všetkým, ako nakoniec bol i tamtých.
9but they shall not advance any further, for their folly shall be manifest to all, as theirs also did become.
10Ale ty si nasledoval moje učenie, môj spôsob života, úmysel, moju vieru, zhovievavosť, lásku, trpezlivosť,
10And thou -- thou hast followed after my teaching, manner of life, purpose, faith, long-suffering, love, endurance,
11moje prenasledovania, utrpenia, aké ma stihly v Antiochii, v Ikoniu, v Lystre, ktoré prenasledovania som zniesol, a zo všetkých ma vytrhol Pán.
11the persecutions, the afflictions, that befel me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of all the Lord did deliver me,
12Ale aj všetkých, ktorí chcú pobožne žiť v Kristu Ježišovi, budú prenasledovať.
12and all also who will to live piously in Christ Jesus shall be persecuted,
13Ale zlí ľudia a čarodejní závratníci budú spieť k horšiemu, zvodiaci do bludu i pojatí bludom.
13and evil men and impostors shall advance to the worse, leading astray and being led astray.
14Ale ty zostávaj v tom, čo mu si sa naučil a o čom si sa presvedčil vediac, od koho si sa naučil
14And thou -- be remaining in the things which thou didst learn and wast entrusted with, having known from whom thou didst learn,
15a že od detinstva znáš sväté písma, ktoré ťa môžu učiniť múdrym na spasenie skrze vieru v Kristu Ježišovi.
15and because from a babe the Holy Writings thou hast known, which are able to make thee wise -- to salvation, through faith that [is] in Christ Jesus;
16Každé písmo, vdýchnuté Bohom, je aj užitočné na vynaučovanie, karhanie, naprávanie, na výchovné káznenie v spravedlivosti,
16every Writing [is] God-breathed, and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for setting aright, for instruction that [is] in righteousness,
17aby bol človek Boží dokonalý, ku každému dobrému skutku pripravený.
17that the man of God may be fitted -- for every good work having been completed.
