1A celá zem bola jedného jazyka a jednakých slov.
1And the whole earth was of one language and of one speech.
2A stalo sa, keď sa rušali od východu, že našli rovinu v zemi Sineáre a bývali tam.
2And it came to pass, as they journeyed east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3Vtedy povedali druh druhovi: Nože narobme tehiel a vypáľme ich v ohni. A tak im bola tehla miesto kameňa a zemská smola im bola miesto malty.
3And they said one to another, Come, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar.
4A povedali: Nože si vystavme mesto a vežu, ktorej vrch bude sahať až do neba. A učiňme si meno, aby sme neboli rozptýlení po tvári celej zeme.
4And they said, Come, let us build us a city, and a tower, whose top [may reach] unto heaven, and let us make us a name; lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5Vtedy sostúpil Hospodin, aby videl mesto a vežu, ktoré staväli synovia človeka.
5And Jehovah came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6A Hospodin riekol: Hľa, je to jeden národ, a všetci majú jeden a ten istý jazyk, a toto je začiatkom toho, čo budú ďalej robiť; takto im teraz nebude prekazené v ničom z toho, čo si zaumienili robiť.
6And Jehovah said, Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is what they begin to do: and now nothing will be withholden from them, which they purpose to do.
7Nože sostúpme a zmiatnime tam ich jazyk, aby nerozumeli druh reči svojho druha.
7Come, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
8A tak ich rozptýlil Hospodin odtiaľ po tvári celej zeme, a prestali staväť mesto.
8So Jehovah scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off building the city.
9Preto nazvali jeho meno Bábel, lebo tam zmiatol Hospodin jazyk celej zeme a odtiaľ ich rozptýlil Hospodin po tvári celej zeme.
9Therefore was the name of it called Babel; because Jehovah did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did Jehovah scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
10Toto sú rody Semove. Semovi bolo sto rokov a splodil Arfaxada, dva roky po potope.
10These are the generations of Shem. Shem was a hundred years old, and begat Arpachshad two years after the flood.

14A Šélach bol živý tridsať rokov a splodil Hébera.
14And Shelah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:
15A Šélach žil po splodení Hébera štyristo tri rokov a splodil synov a dcéry.
15and Shelah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
16A Héber žil tridsaťštyri rokov a splodil Pélega.
16And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:
17A Héber žil po splodení Pélega štyristo tridsať rokov a splodil synov a dcéry.
17and Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.
18A Péleg žil tridsať rokov a splodil Reu-va.
18And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:
19A Péleg žil po splodení Reu-va dvesto deväť rokov a splodil synov a dcéry.
19and Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.
20A Reu žil tridsaťdva rokov a splodil Serúga.
20And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:
21A Reu žil po splodení Serúga dvesto sedem rokov a splodil synov a dcéry.
21and Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.
22A Serúg žil tridsať rokov a splodil Náchora.
22And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:
23A Serúg žil po splodení Náchora dvesto rokov a splodil synov a dcéry.
23and Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
24A Náchor žil dvadsaťdeväť rokov a splodil Téracha.
24And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:
25A Náchor žil po splodení Téracha sto devätnásť rokov a splodil synov a dcéry.
25and Nahor lived after he begat Terah a hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.
26A Térach žil sedemdesiat rokov a splodil Abrama, Náchora a Hárana.
26And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27A toto sú rody Térachove: Térach splodil Abrama, Náchora a Hárana, a Háran splodil Lota.
27Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran. And Haran begat Lot.
28A Háran zomrel pred Térachom, svojím otcom, vo svojej rodnej zemi, v Úre Chaldejov.
28And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29A Abram a Náchor si vzali ženy; meno ženy Abramovej bolo Sáraj, a meno ženy Náchorovej bolo Milka, dcéra Háranova, ktorý bol otcom Milky a otcom Jisky.
29And Abram and Nahor took them wives: The name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
30A Sáraj bola neplodná; nemala detí.
30And Sarai was barren; She had no child.
31A Térach pojal Abrama, svojho syna, a Lota, syna Háranovho, svojho vnuka, i Sáraj, svoju nevestu, ženu Abrama, svojho syna, a vyšli s nimi z Úra Chaldejov, aby išli do zeme Kanaána a prišli až do Chárana a bývali tam.
31And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
32A bolo dní Térachových dvesto päť rokov, a Térach zomrel v Chárane.
32And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
