¹Každý, kto verí, že Ježiš je Kristus, narodil sa z Boha. A každý, kto miluje toho, kto zrodil, miluje aj toho, ktorý sa z neho narodil

¹Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him.

²Po tom známe, že milujeme deti Božie, keď milujeme Boha a zachovávame jeho prikázania.

²By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.

³Lebo toto je tá láska Božia, aby sme zachovávali jeho prikázania, a jeho prikázania nie sú ťažké.

³For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous.

⁴Lebo všetko, čo sa narodilo z Boha, víťazí nad svetom, a toto je to víťazstvo, ktoré zvíťazilo nad svetom - naša viera.

⁴For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.

⁵Kto iný je tým, kto víťazí nad svetom ako ten, kto verí, že Ježiš je Syn Boží?

⁵Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

⁶Toto je ten, ktorý prišiel skrze vodu a krv, Ježiš Kristus. Nie len so samou vodou, ale s vodou i krvou. A Duch je, ktorý svedčí, lebo Duch je pravda.

⁶This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

⁷Pretože traja sú, ktorí svedčia na nebi: Otec, Slovo a Svätý Duch. A tí traja sú jedno.

⁸A traja sú, ktorí svedčia na zemi: Duch, voda a krv. A tí traja sú v jedno.

⁹Ak prijímame svedoctvo ľudí, svedoctvo Boha je väčšie. Lebo toto je to svedoctvo Božie, ktoré vysvedčil o svojom Synovi.

⁹If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is God’s testimony which he has testified concerning his Son.

¹⁰Ten, kto verí v Syna Božieho, má svedoctvo sám v sebe. Kto neverí Bohu, ten ho urobil lhárom, pretože neuveril svedoctvu, ktoré vysvedčil Bôh o svojom Synovi.

¹⁰He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who doesn’t believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son.

¹¹A toto je to svedoctvo, že nám Bôh dal večný život, a ten život je v jeho Synovi.

¹¹The testimony is this, that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

¹²Ten, kto má Syna, má život; kto nemá Syna Božieho, nemá života.

¹²He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn’t have God’s Son doesn’t have the life.

¹³To som napísal vám veriacim v meno Syna Božieho nato, aby ste vedeli, že máte večný život a aby ste verili v meno Syna Božieho.

¹³These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

¹⁴A toto je tá smelá dôvera, ktorú máme k nemu, že keď prosíme niečo podľa jeho vôle, čuje nás.

¹⁴This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.

¹⁵A keď vieme, že nás čuje, za čokoľvek prosíme, vieme, že máme splnené svoje prosby, ktoré sme prosili od neho.

¹⁵And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.

¹⁶Keby niekto videl svojho brata, že hreší hriechom nie na smrť, bude prosiť za neho, a Bôh mu dá život, tým, ktorí hrešia nie na smrť. Je hriech na smrť, o tom nehovorím, aby o ten prosil.

¹⁶If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for those who sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death. I don’t say that he should make a request concerning this.

¹⁷Každá neprávosť je hriechom, ale je hriech nie na smrť.

¹⁸Vieme, že nikto, kto sa narodil z Boha, nehreší. Ale ten, kto sa narodil z Boha, chráni sa, a ten zlý sa ho nedotýka.

¹⁸We know that whoever is born of God doesn’t sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesn’t touch him.

¹⁹Vieme, že sme z Boha, a celý svet leží vo zlom.

¹⁹We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

²⁰A vieme, že Syn Boží prišiel a dal nám myseľ, aby sme znali toho pravdivého a sme v tom pravdivom, v jeho Synovi, Ježišu Kristovi. To je ten pravdivý Bôh a večný život.

²⁰We know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
