1Ale vás prosíme, bratia, ohľadne príchodu nášho Pána Ježiša Krista a nášho shromaždenia k nemu,
1Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to him, we ask you
2aby ste sa nedali hneď zviklať od umu ani sa strašiť ani duchom ani slovom ani listom, ako nami poslaným, ako čo by už bol nastal deň Kristov.
2not to be quickly shaken in your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as from us, saying that the day of Christ had come.
3Nech vás nikto nezvedie nijakým spôsobom, lebo deň Kristov nenastane, kým prv neprijde odpadnutie, a nebude zjavený človek hriechu, syn zatratenia,
3Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the departure comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction,
4ktorý sa protiví a povyšuje nad všetko, čo sa zovie Bôh, alebo čomu sa dáva božská česť, takže sa posadí do chrámu Božieho jako Bôh a bude sa vydávať za Boha.
4he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.
5Či sa nepamätáte, že ešte keď som bol u vás, som vám to hovoril?
5Don’t you remember that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?

8Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth, and destroy by the manifestation of his coming;
9toho bezbožníka, ktorého príchod je podľa mocného pôsobenia satanovho so všetkou mocou a so znameniami a s lživými zázrakmi
9even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10a s každým zvodom neprávosti medzi tými, ktorí hynú, pretože nepriali lásky pravdy, aby boli spasení;
10and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11a preto im Bôh pošle mocné pôsobenie bludu, aby uverili lži,
11Because of this, God sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie;
12aby boli odsúdení všetci, ktorí neuverili pravde, ale si obľúbili neprávosť.
12that they all might be judged who didn’t believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13Ale my sme podlžni ďakovať vždycky Bohu za vás, bratia, milovaní Pánom, že si vás Bôh vyvolil od počiatku cieľom spasenia v posvätení ducha a vo a vo viere pravdy,
13But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth;
14k čomu vás povolal naším evanjeliom nadobudnúť slávy našeho Pána Ježiša Krista.
14to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15Tak tedy, bratia, stojte a držte podania, ktorým ste naučení už či slovom a či naším listom.
15So then, brothers, stand firm, and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word, or by letter.
16A on sám, náš Pán Ježiš Kristus, a Bôh a náš Otec, ktorý nás zamiloval a dal večné potešenie a dobrú nádej v milosti,
16Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,
17nech ráči potešiť vaše srdcia a upevniť vás v každom dobrom slove a v skutku.
17comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.
