¹V osemnajstem letu kralja Jeroboama, sina Nebatovega, je zakraljeval Abijam nad Judo.

¹And in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam son of Nebat, reigned hath Abijam over Judah;

²Tri leta je kraljeval v Jeruzalemu; in materi njegovi je bilo ime Maaka, hči Abisalomova.

²three years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Maachah daughter of Abishalom;

³In živel je v vseh grehih očeta svojega, kar jih je on bil storil pred njim; in srce njegovo ni bilo popolnoma vdano GOSPODU, Bogu svojemu, kakor je bilo srce Davida, očeta njegovega.

³and he walketh in all the sins of his father, that he did before him, and his heart hath not been perfect with Jehovah his God, as the heart of David his father;

⁴Ali zavoljo Davida mu je dal GOSPOD, Bog njegov, svetilo v Jeruzalemu, da je obudil njegovega sina za njim in ohranil obstanek Jeruzalemu,

⁴but for David`s sake hath Jehovah his God given to him a lamp in Jerusalem, to raise up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem,

⁵zato ker je David delal, kar je bilo prav v očeh GOSPODOVIH, in se ni umaknil ničemur, kar mu je velel, vse svoje žive dni, razen v zadevi Urija Hetejca.

⁵in that David did that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah, and turned not aside from all that He commanded him all days of his life — only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite;

⁶Bil pa je boj med Roboamom in Jeroboamom, dokler je živel.

⁶and war hath been between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

⁷Druge zgodbe Abijamove in vse, kar je storil, ni li pisano v knjigi letopisov kraljev Judovih? In bila je vojska med Abijamom in Jeroboamom.

⁷And the rest of the matters of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? And war hath been between Abijam and Jeroboam;

⁸In Abijam je legel k očetom svojim, in pokopali so ga v mestu Davidovem. Asa pa, sin njegov, je zakraljeval na mestu njegovem.

⁸and Abijam lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the city of David, and reign doth Asa his son in his stead.

⁹V dvajsetem letu Jeroboama, kralja Izraelovega, je zakraljeval Asa nad Judo,

⁹And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned hath Asa over Judah,

¹⁰in je vladal enoinštirideset let v Jeruzalemu. In materi njegovi je bilo ime Maaka, hči Abisalomova.

¹⁰and forty and one years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Maachah daughter of Abishalom.

¹¹In Asa je delal, kar je bilo prav v očeh GOSPODOVIH, kakor David, oče njegov.

¹¹And Asa doth that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah, like David his father,

¹²Kajti odpravil je nečistosti posvečene moške iz dežele in odstranil vse ostudne malike, ki so jih napravili njegovi očetje.

¹²and removeth the whoremongers out of the land, and turneth aside all the idols that his fathers made;

¹³Vrhutega je odstavil Maako, mater svojo, da ne bi imela kraljičje oblasti, ker je bila naredila ostudno podobo Ašeri. In Asa je zatrl njeno ostudno podobo ter jo je sežgal pri potoku Kidronu.

¹³and also Maachah his mother — he turneth her aside from being mistress, in that she made a horrible thing for a shrine, and Asa cutteth down her horrible thing, and burneth [it] by the brook Kidron;

¹⁴Toda višav niso odpravili; vendar pa je bilo srce Asovo nerazdeljeno proti GOSPODU vse njegove žive dni.

¹⁴and the high places have not turned aside; only, the heart of Asa hath been perfect with Jehovah all his days,

¹⁵In prinesel je v hišo GOSPODOVO, kar je bil posvetil oče njegov in kar je sam posvetil, srebro, zlato in posode.

¹⁵and he bringeth in the sanctified things of his father, and his own sanctified things, to the house of Jehovah, silver, and gold, and vessels.

¹⁶Bil pa je boj med Asom in Baasom, kraljem Izraelovim, vse njiju žive dni.

¹⁶And war hath been between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days,

¹⁷In Baasa, kralj Izraelov, je prišel gori proti Judi in je zidal Ramo, da bi nihče ne mogel hoditi sem ali tja na stran Asovo, kralja Judovega.

¹⁷and Baasha king of Israel goeth up against Judah, and buildeth Ramah, not to permit any one going out and coming in to Asa king of Judah.

¹⁸Tedaj je Asa pobral vse srebro in zlato, kar ga je preostalo v zakladnici hiše GOSPODOVE in v zakladnici kraljeve hiše, in ga je izročil hlapcem svojim, ter jih je poslal k Ben-hadadu, sinu Tabrimona, sina Heziona, kralja v Siriji, ki je prebival v Damasku, da naj sporoče:

¹⁸And Asa taketh all the silver and the gold that are left in the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the house of the king, and giveth them into the hand of his servants, and king Asa sendeth them unto Ben-Hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion king of Aram, who is dwelling in Damascus, saying,

¹⁹Zaveza je med menoj in teboj, med mojim in tvojim očetom; glej, pošljem ti v dar srebra in zlata: pojdi, razderi zavezo svojo z Baasom, kraljem Izraelovim, da se umakne od mene!

¹⁹`A covenant [is] between me and thee, between my father and thy father; lo, I have sent to thee a reward of silver and gold; go, break thy covenant with Baasha king of Israel, and he goeth up from off me.`

²⁰In Ben-hadad je ugodil kralju in je poslal vojsk svojih poveljnike zoper mesta Izraelova, in udarili so Ijon in Dan in Abel Betmaako in ves Kinerot z vso pokrajino Neftalijevo vred.

²⁰And Ben-Hadad hearkeneth unto king Asa, and sendeth the heads of the forces that he hath against cities of Israel, and smiteth Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-Beth-Maachah, and all Chinneroth, besides all the land of Naphtali;

²¹In ko je to slišal Baasa, je nehal zidati Ramo, in ostal je v Tirzi.

²¹and it cometh to pass at Baasha`s hearing, that he ceaseth from building Ramah, and dwelleth in Tirzah.

²²Nato je razglasil kralj Asa ukaz po vsem Judovem, da nikomur ni bilo izgovora. In pobrali so z Rame kamenje in les, s katerim je bil zidal Baasa, in kralj Asa je s tem zgradil Gebo Benjaminovo in Micpo.

²²And king Asa hath summoned all Judah — there is none exempt — and they lift up the stones of Ramah, and its wood, that Baasha hath built, and king Asa buildeth with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

²³Druge zgodbe Asove pa in vsa moč njegova in vse, kar je storil, in mesta, ki jih je sezidal, ali ni zapisano v knjigi letopisov kraljev Judovih? A v svoji starosti je bil bolan na nogah.

²³And the rest of all the matters of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities that he built, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? Only, at the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet;

²⁴In legel je Asa k očetom svojim, in pokopali so ga ž njega očeti v mestu Davida, očeta njegovega. In Josafat, sin njegov, je zakraljeval na mestu njegovem.

²⁴and Asa lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David his father, and Jehoshaphat his son reigneth in his stead.

²⁵Nadab pa, sin Jeroboamov, je zakraljeval Izraelu v drugem letu Asa, kralja Judovega, in kraljeval je nad Izraelom dve leti

²⁵And Nadab son of Jeroboam hath reigned over Israel, in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigneth over Israel two years,

²⁶in delal, kar je bilo zlo v očeh GOSPODOVIH, in hodil po poti očeta svojega in v grehu njegovem, s katerim je bil v greh zavajal Izraela.

²⁶and doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and goeth in the way of his father, and in his sin that he made Israel to sin.

²⁷Baasa pa, sin Ahijev, iz Isaharjevega rodu, je storil zavezo zoper njega; in Baasa je ubil Nadaba pri Gibetonu, ki je Filistejcev mesto; kajti Nadab in ves Izrael je oblegal Gibeton.

²⁷And conspire against him doth Baasha son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, and Baasha smiteth him in Gibbethon, which [is] to the Philistines — and Nadab and all Israel are laying siege against Gibbethon —

²⁸V tretjem letu Asa, kralja Judovega, ga je usmrtil Baasa in je zakraljeval na mestu njegovem.

²⁸yea, Baasha putteth him to death in the third year of Asa king of Judah, and reigneth in his stead.

²⁹Komaj pa je bil nastopil kraljestvo, je pomoril vso hišo Jeroboamovo, in ni pustil od Jeroboamovih žive ne ene duše, dokler ga ni zatrl po besedi GOSPODOVI, ki jo je govoril po hlapcu svojem, Ahiju Silonskem,

²⁹And it cometh to pass, at his reigning, he hath smitten the whole house of Jeroboam, he hath not left any breathing to Jeroboam till his destroying him, according to the word of Jehovah, that He spake by the hand of His servant Ahijah the Shilonite,

³⁰zaradi grehov Jeroboamovih, ki jih je zagrešil in ž njimi zapeljeval v greh Izraela, zaradi draženja, s katerim je dražil v srd GOSPODA, Boga Izraelovega.

³⁰because of the sins of Jeroboam that he sinned, and that he caused Israel to sin, by his provocation with which he provoked to anger Jehovah, God of Israel.

³¹Druge pa zgodbe Nadabove in vse, kar je storil, ni li pisano v knjigi letopisov kraljev Izraelovih?

³¹And the rest of the matters of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

³²In bil je boj med Asom in Baasom, kraljem Izraelovim, vse njiju žive dni.

³²And war hath been between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

³³V tretjem letu Asa, kralja Judovega, je zakraljeval Baasa, sin Ahijev, vsemu Izraelu v Tirzi in je vladal štiriindvajset let.In delal je, kar je bilo hudo v očeh GOSPODOVIH, in je hodil po poti Jeroboamovi in v grehu njegovem, ki je bil ž njim v greh zavajal Izraela.

³³In the third year of Asa king of Judah reigned hath Baasha son of Ahijah over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years,

³⁴In delal je, kar je bilo hudo v očeh GOSPODOVIH, in je hodil po poti Jeroboamovi in v grehu njegovem, ki je bil ž njim v greh zavajal Izraela.

³⁴and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and walketh in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin that he caused Israel to sin.
