¹In Salomon se je namenil zgraditi hišo imenu GOSPODOVEMU in hišo za svoje kraljevanje.

¹And Solomon saith to build a house for the name of Jehovah, and a house for his kingdom,

²In Salomon je odštel sedemdeset tisoč mož, da nosijo bremena, in osemdeset tisoč mož, da sekajo les v gorah, in tri tisoč in šeststo, da jih nadzorujejo.

²and Solomon numbereth seventy thousand men bearing burden, and eighty thousand men hewing in the mountain, and overseers over them -- three thousand and six hundred.

³In poslal je k Huramu, kralju tirskemu, in sporočil: Kakor si storil z očetom mojim Davidom, ko si mu poslal cedrovine, da si zgradi hišo za prebivanje, enako stóri z menoj.

³And Solomon sendeth unto Huram king of Tyre, saying, `When thou hast dealt with David my father, then thou dost send to him cedars to build for him a house to dwell in;

⁴Glej, hišo hočem zidati imenu GOSPODA, Boga svojega, da mu jo posvetim, da bi se pred njim žgalo sladko dišečekadilo in se vsekdar vrstili kruhi in darovale žgalščine zjutraj in zvečer, ob sobotah in ob mlajih in ob določenih praznikih GOSPODA, našega Boga; večna je to postava Izraelu.

⁴lo, I am building a house to the name of Jehovah my God, to sanctify [it] to Him, to make perfume before Him, perfume of spices, and a continual arrangement, and burnt-offerings at morning and at evening, at sabbaths, and at new moons, and at appointed seasons of Jehovah our God; to the age this [is] on Israel.

⁵Hiša pa, ki jo hočem graditi, bode velika, zakaj velik je Bog naš mimo vseh bogov.

⁵`And the house that I am building [is] great, for greater [is] our God than all gods;

⁶A kdo je zmožen graditi mu hišo? Saj nebo in nebesa nebes ga ne morejo obseči; kdo sem torej jaz, da bi mu zgradil hišo, samo le da se zažiga kadilo pred njim?

⁶and who doth retain strength to build to Him a house, for the heavens, even the heavens of the heavens, do not contain Him? and who [am] I that I do build to Him a house, except to make perfume before Him?

⁷Sedaj mi torej pošlji modrega moža, ki zna delati iz zlata, srebra, brona, železa in iz zagorelordečega, karmezinovega in višnjevega blaga in ki umeje izrezljavati rezbe, da dela z veščaki, ki so pri meni v Judeji in v Jeruzalemu, katere je priskrbel oče moj.

⁷`And now, send to me a wise man to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and knowing to grave gravings with the wise men who [are] with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father prepared;

⁸Pošlji mi tudi cedrovega, cipresovega in sandalovega lesa z Libanona; kajti vem, da znajo hlapci tvoji sekati libanonski les; in glej, hlapci moji bodo s hlapci tvojimi,

⁸and send to me cedar-trees, firs, and algums from Lebanon, for I have known that thy servants know to cut down trees of Lebanon, and lo, my servants [are] with thy servants,

⁹da mi pripravijo veliko lesa, zakaj hiša, ki jo hočem graditi, bo nenavadno velika.

⁹even to prepare for me trees in abundance, for the house that I am building [is] great and wonderful.

¹⁰In glej, jaz dam hlapcem tvojim, delavcem, ki bodo tesali les, v živež dvajset tisoč meric pšenice in dvajset tisoč meric ječmena in dvajset tisoč batov vina in dvajset tisoč batov olja.

¹⁰`And lo, to hewers, to those cutting the trees, I have given beaten wheat to thy servants, cors twenty thousand, and barley, cors twenty thousand, and wine, baths twenty thousand, and oil, baths twenty thousand.'

¹¹Nato odgovori Huram, kralj tirski, v pismu, katero pošlje Salomonu: Ker GOSPOD ljubi ljudstvo svoje, zato te je postavil za kralja nad njimi.

¹¹And Huram king of Tyre saith in writing, and sendeth unto Solomon: `In the love of Jehovah to His people He hath given thee king over them.'

¹²Še reče Huram: Hvaljen bodi GOSPOD, Bog Izraelov, ki je naredil nebesa in zemljo, da je dal kralju Davidu modrega sina, obdarovanega s previdnostjo in razumnostjo, ki bo gradil hišo GOSPODU in hišo za svoje kraljevanje.

¹²And Huram saith, `Blessed [is] Jehovah, God of Israel, who made the heavens and the earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, knowing wisdom and understanding, who doth build a house for Jehovah, and a house for his kingdom.

¹³In sedaj pošiljam modrega moža, obdarovanega z razumnostjo, Hurama, svojega očeta,

¹³`And now, I have sent a wise man having understanding, of Huram my father,

¹⁴ki je sin žene izmed Danovih hčera, oče njegov pa je bil Tirec. Ta zna delati iz zlata, srebra, brona, železa, kamena, lesa, iz zagorelordečega in višnjevega blaga, iz tenčice in karmezina, tudi izrezljavati vsakovrstno rezbo ter izmišljati kakršnokoli umetnino, ki se mu naloži, da dela s tvojimi umetniki in z umetniki gospoda mojega Davida, očeta tvojega.

¹⁴(son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father a man of Tyre), knowing to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stones, and in wood, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson, and to grave any graving, and to devise any device that is given to him, with thy wise men, and the wise men of my lord David thy father.

¹⁵Poslej naj pošilja torej gospod moj hlapcem svojim pšenice in ječmena, olja in vina, kakor je obljubil.

¹⁵`And, now, the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, as my lord said, let him send to his servants,

¹⁶Mi pa bomo sekali les z Libanona, kolikor ti ga bo treba, in ti ga spravimo na plaveh po morju v Japo, ti pa poskrbiš, da ga peljejo gori v Jeruzalem.

¹⁶and we -- we cut trees out of Lebanon, according to all thy need, and bring them in to thee -- floats by sea, to Joppa, and thou dost take them up to Jerusalem.'

¹⁷In Salomon je preštel vse tujce v deželi Izraelovi, po štetju, po katerem jih je preštel David, oče njegov, in našteli so jih sto in triinpetdeset tisoč in šeststo.In postavil jih je sedemdeset tisoč, da nosijo bremena, in osemdeset tisoč, da sekajo les v gorah, in tri tisoč in šeststo za nadzornike, da priganjajo ljudstvo k delu.

¹⁷And Solomon numbereth all the men, the sojourners who [are] in the land of Israel, after the numbering with which David his father numbered them, and they are found a hundred and fifty thousand, and three thousand, and six hundred;

¹⁸In postavil jih je sedemdeset tisoč, da nosijo bremena, in osemdeset tisoč, da sekajo les v gorah, in tri tisoč in šeststo za nadzornike, da priganjajo ljudstvo k delu.

¹⁸and he maketh of them seventy thousand burden-bearers, and eighty thousand hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers, to cause the people to work.
