¹Prosimo pa vas, bratje, zaradi prihoda Gospoda našega Jezusa Kristusa in shoda našega ž njim,

¹Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to him, we ask you

²da se ne daste hitro premekniti od zdravega uma in se ne ustrašite ne po duhu, ne po besedi, ne po listu, kakor da je od nas, da je že nastopil dan Gospodov.

²not to be quickly shaken in your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as from us, saying that the day of Christ had come.

³Naj vas nikakor nihče ne preslepi: kajti tega dneva ne bo, če prej ne pride odpad in se ne razodene ‚človek greha‘, ‚pogube sin‘,

³Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the departure comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction,

⁴ki se upira in povzdiguje zoper vse, kar se zove Bog ali kar se po božje časti, tako da samega sebe posadi v svetišče Božje in kaže sebe, da je Bog.

⁴he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.

⁵Ali se ne spominjate, da sem vam, ko sem bil še pri vas, rekel to?

⁵Don’t you remember that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?

⁶In sedaj veste, kaj ga zadržuje, da bi bil razodet ob svojem času.

⁶Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season.

⁷Kajti skrivnost krivice je že delavna; treba samo, da bo odpravljen, ki ga zadržuje sedaj.

⁷For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way.

⁸In tedaj se razodene Krivičnik, ki ga Gospod Jezus uniči z dihom svojih ust in pokonča s prikaznijo prihoda svojega:

⁸Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth, and destroy by the manifestation of his coming;

⁹njega, ki pride po delovanju satanovem z vso močjo in z znamenji in čudeži lažnivimi

⁹even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

¹⁰in s sleherno prevaro krivice za te, ki gredo v pogubo, zato ker niso sprejeli ljubezni resnice, da bi se rešili.

¹⁰and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

¹¹In zato jim pošilja Bog močno delovanje zmote, da verujejo laži;

¹¹Because of this, God sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie;

¹²da bodo sojeni vsi, ki niso verovali resnici, ampak jim je ugajala krivica.

¹²that they all might be judged who didn’t believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

¹³Mi pa smo dolžni zahvaljevati Boga vedno za vas, bratje ljubljeni od Gospoda, da vas je Bog izvolil od začetka za zveličanje v posvečenju Duha in v veri v resnico;

¹³But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth;

¹⁴za kar vas je poklical po evangeliju našem, da dosežete slavo Gospoda našega Jezusa Kristusa.

¹⁴to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁵Zatorej stojte trdno, bratje, in hranite izročila, ki ste se jih naučili bodisi po besedi ali po listu našem.

¹⁵So then, brothers, stand firm, and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word, or by letter.

¹⁶Sam pa Gospod naš Jezus Kristus in Bog Oče naš, ki nas je ljubil in nam dal večno tolažbo in dobro upanje po milosti,naj potolaži srca vaša in vas utrdi v slehernem dobrem delu in govoru.

¹⁶Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,

¹⁷naj potolaži srca vaša in vas utrdi v slehernem dobrem delu in govoru.

¹⁷comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.
