1Sicer pa, bratje, molite za nas, da se širi beseda Gospodova in slavi, kakor tudi pri vas,
1Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be glorified, even as also with you;
2in da se rešimo nespametnih in hudobnih ljudi; vera namreč ni last vseh.
2and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for not all have faith.
3Zvest pa je Gospod, ki vas bo utrdil in branil zlega.
3But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you, and guard you from the evil one.
4Zaupamo pa vam v Gospodu, da delate in boste delali, kar vam zapovedujemo.
4We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you both do and will do the things we command.
5Gospod pa naj vodi srca vaša v ljubezen Božjo in v stanovitnost Kristusovo.
5May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ.
6Zapovedujemo pa vam, bratje, v imenu Gospoda našega Jezusa Kristusa, da se ogibljete vsakega brata, ki živi neredno in ne po izročilu, ki ste ga prejeli od nas.
6Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks in rebellion, and not after the tradition which they received from us.
7Kajti sami veste, kako je treba nas posnemati: nismo se namreč vedli neredno med vami,
7For you know how you ought to imitate us. For we didn’t behave ourselves rebelliously among you,
8tudi nismo kruha jedli daroma od koga, ampak s trudom in težavo smo delali noč in dan, da bi ne nadlegovali nikogar od vas;
8neither did we eat bread from anyone’s hand without paying for it, but in labor and travail worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you;
9ne ker bi ne imeli za to pravice, temuč da vam bodemo zgled, da nas posnemate.
9not because we don’t have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, that you should imitate us.
10Saj smo tudi, ko smo bili pri vas, to zapovedali vam: Če kdo noče delati, naj tudi ne jé.
10For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: “If anyone will not work, neither let him eat.”
11Čujemo namreč, da nekateri med vami žive neredno in ne delajo nič, ampak se pečajo z nepotrebnim.
11For we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who don’t work at all, but are busybodies.
12Takim pa zapovedujemo in jih opominjamo v Gospodu Jezusu Kristusu, da naj v miru delajo in svoj kruh jedo.
12Now those who are that way, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
13Vi pa, bratje, ne opešajte v dobrem dejanju.
13But you, brothers, don’t be weary in doing well.
14Če pa kdo ne sluša besede naše po listu, tega si oznamenite, da nimate družbe ž njim, da ga bode sram.
14If any man doesn’t obey our word in this letter, note that man, that you have no company with him, to the end that he may be ashamed.
15A ne imejte ga za sovražnika, marveč svarite ga kakor brata.
15Don’t count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
16On pa, Gospod miru, vam daj mir vsekdar in povsod! Gospod z vami vsemi!
16Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all.
