¹In pridejo k meni možje izmed starejšin Izraelovih ter sedejo pred menoj.

¹Then came certain of the elders of Israel to me, and sat before me.

²Tedaj mi pride beseda GOSPODOVA, govoreč:

²The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

³Sin človečji, ti možje so si vzeli grde malike svoje v srce in predse postavili spotiko za svojo krivico: ali naj jim odgovorim, ko me vprašajo?

³Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart, and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?

⁴Zato jih ogovori in jim reci: Tako pravi Gospod Jehova: Vsak mož iz hiše Izraelove, ki si jemlje grde malike svoje v srce in si stavi spotiko za krivico svojo pred obličje, pa prihaja k proroku: jaz GOSPOD mu odgovorim primerno, po množini grdih malikov njegovih,

⁴Therefore speak to them, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Every man of the house of Israel who takes his idols into his heart, and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet; I Yahweh will answer him therein according to the multitude of his idols;

⁵da ujamem hišo Izraelovo za njih srce, ker so se mi vsi vkup odtujili po grdih malikih svojih.

⁵that I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

⁶Zato reci hiši Izraelovi: Tako pravi Gospod Jehova: Vrnite se in opustite grde malike svoje in odvrnite obraze od vseh gnusob svojih!

⁶Therefore tell the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Return, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

⁷Zakaj vsakdo iz hiše Izraelove in izmed tujcev, ki bivajo v Izraelu, ki se loči od mene, da ne bi šel za menoj, in si v srce jemlje grde malike svoje in stavi predse spotiko za krivico svojo ter prihaja k proroku mene vpraševat zase: jaz GOSPOD mu odgovorim po svojem načinu.

⁷For everyone of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who live in Israel, who separates himself from me, and takes his idols into his heart, and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet to inquire for himself of me; I Yahweh will answer him by myself:

⁸In obrnem obličje svoje zoper tistega moža in ga naredim v stvar strmenju, za znamenje in pregovor in ga iztrebim iz ljudstva svojega. In spoznate, da sem jaz GOSPOD.

⁸and I will set my face against that man, and will make him an astonishment, for a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.

⁹Ako se pa prorok da premotiti in govori besedo, jaz GOSPOD sem premotil tistega proroka, in iztegnem roko zoper njega in ga pokončam izmed ljudstva svojega Izraela.

⁹If the prophet is deceived and speak a word, I, Yahweh, have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand on him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

¹⁰In nosila bosta krivico svojo: krivica prorokova bode kakor krivica tistega, ki ga povprašuje;

¹⁰They shall bear their iniquity: the iniquity of the prophet shall be even as the iniquity of him who seeks him;

¹¹da ne bi več blodila hiša Izraelova od mene, tudi da bi se več ne onečiščevali z vsemi pregrehami svojimi; in bodo mi v ljudstvo in jaz jim bodem Bog, govori Gospod Jehova.

¹¹that the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither defile themselves any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, says the Lord Yahweh.

¹²In pride mi beseda GOSPODOVA, govoreč:

¹²The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

¹³Ko se dežela pregreši zoper mene s tem, da se mi izneveri, in iztegnem roko svojo zoper njo in ji starem podporo kruha in pošljem lakoto nadnjo in zatarem v njej človeka in živino,

¹³Son of man, when a land sins against me by committing a trespass, and I stretch out my hand on it, and break the staff of its bread, and send famine on it, and cut off from it man and animal;

¹⁴pa bi bili ti trije možje v njej, Noe, Daniel in Job: oni bi po pravičnosti svoji oteli samo svoje duše, govori Gospod Jehova.

¹⁴though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, says the Lord Yahweh.

¹⁵Ko pripeljem hude zveri v deželo, da ji pogube prebivalce, da postane pustinja in nihče ne bo hodil skozi njo zavoljo zveri,

¹⁵If I cause evil animals to pass through the land, and they ravage it, and it be made desolate, so that no man may pass through because of the animals;

¹⁶pa bi bili ti trije možje v njej, res, kakor živim, govori Gospod Jehova: oni ne otmo ne sinov, ne hčeri; sami bodo oteti, a dežela bode pustinja.

¹⁶though these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only should be delivered, but the land should be desolate.

¹⁷Ali če pripeljem meč nad tisto deželo in velim: Meč, pojdi skozi deželo! in tako zatarem v njej človeka in živino,

¹⁷Or if I bring a sword on that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off from it man and animal;

¹⁸pa bi bili ti trije možje v njej, res, kakor živim, govori Gospod Jehova, oni ne otmo ne sinov, ne hčeri, toda sami bodo oteti.

¹⁸though these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only should be delivered themselves.

¹⁹Ali če pošljem kugo v tisto deželo in izlijem togoto svojo nadnjo v krvi, da zatarem v njej človeka in živino,

¹⁹Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my wrath on it in blood, to cut off from it man and animal;

²⁰pa bi bili v njej Noe, Daniel in Job, res, kakor živim, govori Gospod Jehova: ne otmo ne sinov, ne hčeri, oteli bodo samo svoje duše po pravičnosti svoji.

²⁰though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, they should deliver neither son nor daughter; they should but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

²¹Toda tako pravi Gospod Jehova: Ko pošljem nad Jeruzalem svoje štiri sodbe: meč, lakoto, hude zveri in kugo, da zatarem v njem ljudi in živino,

²¹For thus says the Lord Yahweh: How much more when I send my four severe judgments on Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the evil animals, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and animal!

²²vendar, glej, v njem ostanejo ohranjenci, sinovi in hčere, katere popeljejo ven; glej, pridejo k vam ven, in videli boste njih življenje in njih dejanja; in potolaženi boste zastran nesreče, ki sem jo pripeljal nad Jeruzalem, zastran vsega, kar sem pripeljal nadenj.In bodo vas tolažili, ko boste videli njih življenje in njih dejanje; in spoznate, da nisem brez vzroka storil vsega, karkoli sem storil v njem, govori Gospod Jehova.

²²Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be carried forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth to you, and you shall see their way and their doings; and you shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought on it.

²³In bodo vas tolažili, ko boste videli njih življenje in njih dejanje; in spoznate, da nisem brez vzroka storil vsega, karkoli sem storil v njem, govori Gospod Jehova.

²³They shall comfort you, when you see their way and their doings; and you shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, says the Lord Yahweh.
