¹In deveto leto, deseti dan desetega meseca je prišla beseda GOSPODOVA do mene, govoreč:

¹Again, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

²Sin človečji, zapiši si ime tega dneva, današnjega dneva! Ta današnji dan je pritisnil kralj babilonski na Jeruzalem.

²Son of man, write the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon drew close to Jerusalem this same day.

³In govóri priliko uporni družini in jim reci: Tako pravi Gospod Jehova: Pristavi lonec, pristavi ga in vlij vode vanj!

³Utter a parable to the rebellious house, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh, Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it:

⁴Deni vanj kose, vse najboljše kose, stegno in pleče; napolni ga z izbranimi kostmi.

⁴gather its pieces into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.

⁵Vzemi najboljše iz drobnice, zlóži tudi kup drv za kosti podenj; daj, da močno vre, da se tudi kosti v njem razkuhajo.

⁵Take the choice of the flock, and also a pile of wood for the bones under the caldron; make it boil well; yes, let its bones be boiled in its midst.

⁶Zatorej pravi tako Gospod Jehova: Gorje mestu, ki je prelivalo kri, loncu, ki se ga je prijela rja in rja ne gre od njega! Kos za kosom izmeči iz njega, ne da bi se vadljalo zanje.

⁶Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the bloody city, to the caldron whose rust is therein, and whose rust is not gone out of it! take out of it piece after piece; No lot is fallen on it.

⁷Kajti kri njegova je sredi njega: na golo skalo jo je prelilo, ni je izlilo na zemljo, da bi jo mogli pokriti s prstjo.

⁷For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it on the bare rock; she didn’t pour it on the ground, to cover it with dust.

⁸Da pride nadenj srd in se izvrši maščevanje, sem del njegovo kri na golo skalo, da ne bodi pokrita.

⁸That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood on the bare rock, that it should not be covered.

⁹Zato pravi tako Gospod Jehova: Gorje mestu, ki je prelivalo kri! Tudi jaz naredim veliko grmado.

⁹Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.

¹⁰Nanosi sem drv, razneti ogenj, dobro prekuhaj meso, naj se zvari juha, kosti naj se sežgo!

¹⁰Heap on the wood, make the fire hot, boil well the flesh, and make thick the broth, and let the bones be burned.

¹¹Nato ga deni praznega na žerjavico njegovo, da se njegova bronina razbeli in raztopi in da se njegova nečistost v njem razpusti, rja njegova izgine.

¹¹Then set it empty on its coals, that it may be hot, and its brass may burn, and that its filthiness may be molten in it, that its rust may be consumed.

¹²Vse prizadevanje je utrudilo, pa obila rja njegova ne gre od njega; še po ognju ostane rja njegova.

¹²She has wearied herself with toil; yet her great rust doesn’t go forth out of her; her rust doesn’t go forth by fire.

¹³V nečistosti tvoji je nesramnost. Ker sem te očiščeval, a nisi bilo očiščeno, ne boš več očiščeno nečednosti svoje, dokler ne pomirim togote svoje nad teboj.

¹³In your filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansed you and you weren’t cleansed, you shall not be cleansed from your filthiness any more, until I have caused my wrath toward you to rest.

¹⁴Jaz, GOSPOD, sem govoril. Pride čas, in storim to; ne odneham, ne prizanesem, tudi žal mi ne bode. Po tvojih potih in po tvojih dejanjih te bodo sodili, govori Gospod Jehova.

¹⁴I, Yahweh, have spoken it: it shall happen, and I will do it: I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to your ways, and according to your doings, shall they judge you, says the Lord Yahweh.

¹⁵In beseda GOSPODOVA mi je prišla, govoreč:

¹⁵Also the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

¹⁶Sin človečji, glej, vzamem ti željo tvojih oči z enim udarcem; ali ne žaluj in ne plakaj in solz ne toči!

¹⁶Son of man, behold, I will take away from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke: yet you shall neither mourn nor weep, neither shall your tears run down.

¹⁷Molče zdihuj, žalovanja po mrtvem ne napravljaj; z zalim pokrivalom si ovij glavo in obuj čevlje na noge, in ne zagrinjaj si brade in ne jej kruha od ljudi.

¹⁷Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind your headdress on you, and put your shoes on your feet, and don’t cover your lips, and don’t eat men’s bread.

¹⁸In ko sem zjutraj govoril ljudstvu, mi je umrla žena na večer. In drugo jutro sem storil, kakor mi je bilo ukazano.

¹⁸So I spoke to the people in the morning; and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

¹⁹In ljudstvo mi reče: nočeš li nam povedati, kaj nam to pomeni, kar delaš?

¹⁹The people said to me, Won’t you tell us what these things are to us, that you do so?

²⁰Nato jim rečem: Beseda GOSPODOVA mi je prišla, govoreč:

²⁰Then I said to them, The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

²¹Govori družini Izraelovi: Tako pravi Gospod Jehova: Glej, jaz onesvetim svetišče svoje, ponos vaše moči, željo oči vaših in hrepenenje vaših duš; in sinovi vaši in hčere vaše, ki ste jih pustili za sabo, padejo pod mečem.

²¹Speak to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pities; and your sons and your daughters whom you have left behind shall fall by the sword.

²²Takrat boste storili, kakor sem jaz storil: brade ne boste zagrinjali, ne jedli kruha od ljudi,

²²You shall do as I have done: you shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.

²³in zala pokrivala bodo na vaših glavah in čevlje boste imeli na nogah; ne boste žalovali, ne jokali, temuč ginili boste v krivicah svojih in zdihovali drug proti drugemu.

²³Your tires shall be on your heads, and your shoes on your feet: you shall not mourn nor weep; but you shall pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another.

²⁴Tako vam bode Ezekiel v zgledno znamenje: vse, kakor je storil, boste storili. Kadar to pride, spoznate, da sem jaz Gospod, Jehova.

²⁴Thus Ezekiel shall be a sign to you; according to all that he has done, you will do. When this comes, then you will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.

²⁵Ti pa, sin človečji, tisti dan, ko jim vzamem njih moč, veselje njih krasote, željo njih oči in hrepenenje njih duš, namreč njih sinove in hčere,

²⁵You, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their heart, their sons and their daughters,

²⁶tisti dan pride k tebi ubežnik, da naznani ušesom tvojim;tisti dan se odpro usta tvoja proti ubežniku, in govoril boš in ne boš več molčal. In tako jim bodeš v zgledno znamenje, in vedeli bodo, da sem jaz Gospod.

²⁶that in that day he who escapes shall come to you, to cause you to hear it with your ears?

²⁷tisti dan se odpro usta tvoja proti ubežniku, in govoril boš in ne boš več molčal. In tako jim bodeš v zgledno znamenje, in vedeli bodo, da sem jaz Gospod.

²⁷In that day your mouth will be opened to him who has escaped, and you shall speak, and be no more mute: so you will be a sign to them; and they shall know that I am Yahweh.
