¹Še spregovori Elihu in reče:

¹Moreover Elihu answered,

²Meniš li, da je to prav? Rekel si: Pravičnost moja je večja nego Boga mogočnega.

²“Do you think this to be your right, or do you say, ‘My righteousness is more than God’s,’

³Kajti vprašuješ, kaj hasni tebi? „Kaj pridobim več, nego ko bi grešil?“

³That you ask, ‘What advantage will it be to you? What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?’

⁴Jaz ti odgovorim besede in tvojim tovarišem s teboj.

⁴I will answer you, and your companions with you.

⁵Ozri se proti nebu in glej in ogleduj nebeški obok – višji je nego ti.

⁵Look to the heavens, and see. See the skies, which are higher than you.

⁶Če grešiš, kaj Mu škodiš? in če se množe prestopki tvoji, kaj Mu prizadeneš?

⁶If you have sinned, what effect do you have against him? If your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him?

⁷Če si pravičen, kaj Mu daješ? ali kaj prejemlje iz roke tvoje?

⁷If you are righteous, what do you give him? Or what does he receive from your hand?

⁸Možu, kakor si sam, more škoditi tvoja brezbožnost in sinu človeškemu koristiti tvoja pravičnost.

⁸Your wickedness may hurt a man as you are, and your righteousness may profit a son of man.

⁹Zaradi mnogega nasilstva vpijejo, kriče za pomoč zaradi rame mogočnežev.

⁹“By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.

¹⁰A nihče ne pravi: Kje je Bog, Stvarnik moj, ki daje hvalospeve po noči,

¹⁰But none says, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night,

¹¹ki nas bolj poučuje nego živali zemeljske in nam več modrosti daje nego pticam nebeškim.

¹¹who teaches us more than the animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?’

¹²Ondi vpijejo zaradi napuha hudobnih, a On ne odgovarja.

¹²There they cry, but none gives answer, because of the pride of evil men.

¹³Samo praznega vpitja ne sliši Bog silni in Vsegamogočni se nanje ne ozira.

¹³Surely God will not hear an empty cry, neither will the Almighty regard it.

¹⁴Če praviš tudi, da Ga ne vidiš – pravda tvoja je pred Njim, Ga le čakaj!

¹⁴How much less when you say you don’t see him. The cause is before him, and you wait for him!

¹⁵In sedaj, ker še ni kaznoval srd njegov, ne pozna li dobro drzovitosti tvoje?Zatorej brezuspešno odpira Job usta svoja, množi besede brez spoznanja.

¹⁵But now, because he has not visited in his anger, neither does he greatly regard arrogance.

¹⁶Zatorej brezuspešno odpira Job usta svoja, množi besede brez spoznanja.

¹⁶Therefore Job opens his mouth with empty talk, and he multiplies words without knowledge.”
