³In ko odidem in vam pripravim prostor, pridem zopet in vas vzamem k sebi, da boste tudi vi tam, kjer sem jaz.

³ If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.

⁴In kam jaz grem, veste, tudi pot veste.

⁴ Where I go, you know, and you know the way.”

⁵Reče mu Tomaž: Gospod, ne vemo, kam greš, in kako moremo vedeti pot?

⁵Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?”

⁶Veli mu Jezus: Jaz sem pot in resnica in življenje; nihče ne pride k Očetu razen po meni.

⁶Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

⁷Ko bi bili mene spoznali, bi poznali tudi Očeta mojega. In odsihdob ga poznate, in videli ste ga.

⁷ If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him, and have seen him.”

⁸Reče mu Filip: Gospod, pokaži nam Očeta, in dosti je nam.

⁸Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”

⁹Jezus mu dé: Toliko časa sem z vami, in nisi me spoznal, Filip? Kdor je mene videl, je videl Očeta; in kako ti praviš: Pokaži nam Očeta?

⁹Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, ‘Show us the Father?’

¹⁰Ne veruješ li, da sem jaz v Očetu in Oče v meni? Besed, ki jih vam jaz pravim, ne govorim sam od sebe, ampak Oče, ki v meni prebiva, on vrši dela svoja.

¹⁰ Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works.

¹¹Verujte mi, da sem jaz v Očetu in Oče v meni; če pa ne, verujte mi vsaj zavoljo teh del.

¹¹ Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

¹²Resnično, resnično vam pravim: Kdor veruje v mene, bo tudi on vršil dela, ki jih jaz delam, in bo vršil še večja od teh: kajti jaz grem k Očetu.

¹² Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.

¹³In karkoli boste prosili v mojem imenu, to bom storil, da bo oslavljen Oče v Sinu.

¹³ Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

¹⁴Če boste kaj prosili v mojem imenu, jaz bom storil.

¹⁴ If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.

¹⁵Ako me ljubite, boste izpolnjevali zapovedi moje.

¹⁵ If you love me, keep my commandments.

¹⁶In jaz bom prosil Očeta, in drugega Tolažnika vam dá, da ostane z vami vekomaj,

¹⁶ I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, Greek Parakleton: Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, and Comforter. that he may be with you forever,—

¹⁷Duha resnice, ki ga svet ne more prejeti, ker ga ne vidi in ga tudi ne pozna; vi ga pa poznate, ker pri vas prebiva, in bode v vas.

¹⁷ the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.

¹⁸Ne pustim vas sirot, pridem k vam.

¹⁸ I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you.

¹⁹Še malo, in svet me več ne bo videl, a vi me boste videli: ker jaz živim, boste tudi vi živeli.

¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world will see me no more; but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also.

²⁰Tisti dan spoznate, da sem jaz v Očetu svojem, in vi v meni, in jaz v vas.

²⁰ In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

²¹Kdor ima zapovedi moje in jih izpolnjuje, on je ta, ki me ljubi; kdor pa mene ljubi, ga bo ljubil Oče moj, in jaz ga bom ljubil in mu razodenem sebe.

²¹ One who has my commandments, and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.”

²²Reče mu Juda (ne Iškariot): Gospod, kaj se je zgodilo, da hočeš sebe razodeti nam in ne svetu?

²²Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, what has happened that you are about to reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?”

²³Jezus odgovori in mu reče: Če me kdo ljubi, bo izpolnjeval besedo mojo, in Oče moj ga bo ljubil, in k njemu pridemo in prebivališče si napravimo pri njem.

²³Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.

²⁴Kdor me ne ljubi, mojih besed ne izpolnjuje; in beseda, ki jo slišite, ni moja, marveč Očeta, ki me je poslal.

²⁴ He who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.

²⁵To sem vam govoril, dokler sem z vami.

²⁵ I have said these things to you, while still living with you.

²⁶Tolažnik [Ali: Pomočnik, Besednik, Odvetnik.] pa, sveti Duh, ki ga pošlje Oče v imenu mojem, on vas bo vse učil in vas spominjal vsega, kar sem vam povedal.

²⁶ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.

²⁷Mir vam zapuščam, mir svoj vam dajem; ne dajem vam jaz, kakor daje svet. Ne bodi vam srce plašno in boječe.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

²⁸Slišali ste, da sem vam jaz rekel: Grem, a zopet pridem k vam. Ko bi me ljubili, bi se veselili, da grem k Očetu; kajti Oče je večji od mene.

²⁸ You heard how I told you, ‘I go away, and I come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I said ‘I am going to my Father;’ for the Father is greater than I.

²⁹In sedaj sem vam povedal, preden se zgodi, da boste verovali, kadar se zgodi.

²⁹ Now I have told you before it happens so that, when it happens, you may believe.

³⁰Ne bom veliko več govoril z vami: prihaja namreč vojvoda tega sveta, a na meni nima ničesar;ampak da svet spozna, da ljubim Očeta, in kakor mi je Oče zapovedal, tako delam. Vstanite, pojdite odtod!

³⁰ I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me.
