¹{Načelniku godbe. Psalm Davidov.} Stanovitno sem čakal GOSPODA, in on je, nagnivši se k meni, slišal vpitje moje.

¹I waited patiently for Yahweh. He turned to me, and heard my cry.

²In me je potegnil iz jame pogube, iz kaluže, in je postavil noge moje na skalo, utrdil korake moje.

²He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.

³In v usta moja je del novo pesem, hvalno pesem našemu Bogu: mnogi bodo to videli in se bali ter upali v GOSPODA.

³He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in Yahweh.

⁴Blagor možu, ki stavi v GOSPODA upanje svoje ter se ne ozira v prevzetnike in nje, ki odstopajo za lažjo.

⁴Blessed is the man who makes Yahweh his trust, and doesn’t respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

⁵Mnoga so čuda tvoja, o GOSPOD, Bog moj, ki si jih storil, in mnoge misli tvoje za nas; nihče ni tebi enak; če bi jih hotel oznanjati in pripovedovati, preveliko jih je, da bi jih naštel.

⁵Many, Yahweh, my God, are the wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are toward us. They can’t be declared back to you. If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

⁶Klalnih in jedilnih darov se nisi veselil, a ušesa si mi odprl, žgalnih žrtev in daritev za greh nisi zahteval.

⁶Sacrifice and offering you didn’t desire. You have opened my ears. You have not required burnt offering and sin offering.

⁷Tedaj sem rekel: Glej, jaz grem – v zvitku knjige je pisano o meni;

⁷Then I said, “Behold, I have come. It is written about me in the book in the scroll.

⁸veselje mi je delati tvojo voljo, Bog moj, in postava tvoja je v mojem srcu.

⁸I delight to do your will, my God. Yes, your law is within my heart.”

⁹Blagovestje o pravičnosti sem oznanjal v zboru velikem, glej, ustnic svojih nisem zadržaval, o GOSPOD, ti veš.

⁹I have proclaimed glad news of righteousness in the great assembly. Behold, I will not seal my lips, Yahweh, you know.

¹⁰Pravičnosti tvoje nisem skrival v srcu svojem, zvestobo tvojo in zveličanje tvoje sem razglasil, nisem utajil milosti in resnice tvoje velikemu zboru.

¹⁰I have not hidden your righteousness within my heart. I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation. I have not concealed your loving kindness and your truth from the great assembly.

¹¹Ti pa, o GOSPOD, ne odtezaj mi usmiljenja svojega, milost in resnica tvoja naj me hranita vedno.

¹¹Don’t withhold your tender mercies from me, Yahweh. Let your loving kindness and your truth continually preserve me.

¹²Kajti obsula so me zla, ki jim ni števila, zgrabile so me krivice moje tako, da ne morem pregledati; več jih je nego glave moje las, in srce moje me je zapustilo.

¹²For innumerable evils have surrounded me. My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up. They are more than the hairs of my head. My heart has failed me.

¹³Blagovoli me oteti, o GOSPOD, hiti mi na pomoč, GOSPOD!

¹³Be pleased, Yahweh, to deliver me. Hurry to help me, Yahweh.

¹⁴Osramočeni naj bodo in rdečica naj jih oblije vse vkup, ki iščejo duše moje, da jo pogube; umaknejo se naj in pridejo v nečast, ki želé nesreče moje.

¹⁴Let them be disappointed and confounded together who seek after my soul to destroy it. Let them be turned backward and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt.

¹⁵Ostrmé naj nad plačilom sramote svoje, ki mi pravijo: Aha, aha!

¹⁶Vesele se naj in radujejo v tebi vsi, ki te iščejo; kateri ljubijo rešenje tvoje, govore naj vedno: Poveličan bodi GOSPOD!Ubog sem res in potreben, ali Gospod skrbi zame. Pomoč si moja in rešitelj moj, o Bog moj, ne odlašaj!

¹⁶Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let such as love your salvation say continually, “Let Yahweh be exalted!”

¹⁷Ubog sem res in potreben, ali Gospod skrbi zame. Pomoč si moja in rešitelj moj, o Bog moj, ne odlašaj!

¹⁷But I am poor and needy. May the Lord think about me. You are my help and my deliverer. Don’t delay, my God.
