¹Zvino ndiwo mashoko okupedzisira aDhavhidhi, Zvanzi naDhavhidhi mwanakomana waJese, Zvanzi nomunhu wakakudzwa kwazvo, Naiye muzodzwa waMwari waJakove, Muimbi wezvakanaka waIsiraeri,

¹Now these are the last words of David: David the son of Jesse saith, And the man who was raised up on high, The anointed of the God of Jacob, And the sweet psalmist of Israel saith,

²Mweya waJehovha wakataura mukati mangu, Shoko rake rakanga riri parurimi rwangu.

²The Spirit of Jehovah spoke by me, And his word was on my tongue.

³Mwari waIsiraeri wakataura, dombo raIsiraeri rakataura neni, rikati, Mumwe uchavapo, uchabata vanhu zvakarurama, Uchabata ushe achitya Mwari;

³The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me, The ruler among men shall be just, Ruling in the fear of God;

⁴Uchava sechiedza chamangwanani, kana zuva robuda, Samangwanani kana kusina makore. Kana bumhudza richibuda pavhu Kana mushana wobuda mvura yapera kunaya.

⁴And [he shall be] as the light or the morning, [like] the rising of the sun, A morning without clouds; [When] from the sunshine, after rain, The green grass springeth from the earth.

⁵Ko imba yangu haizakadaro kuna Mwari here? nekuti wakaita neni sungano isingaperi, Yakanatswa pazvinhu zvose, yakasimba; nekuti ndiko kuponeswa kwangu kose, nokuda kwangu kose, Ko haangazvikurisi here?

⁵Although my house be not so before ùGod, Yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, Ordered in every way and sure; For [this is] all my salvation, and every desire, Although he make [it] not to grow.

⁶Asi vose vasingadi Mwari vachafanana nemhinzwa inorashwa. Nekuti haigoni kubatwa namaoko;

⁶But [the sons] of Belial [are] all of them as thorns thrust away, Because they cannot be taken with hands;

⁷And the man that will touch them provideth himself with iron and the staff of a spear; And they shall be utterly burned with fire in [their] place.

⁸Ndiwo mazita emhare dzaDhavhidhi: Joshebhibhashebheti muTakemoni, mukuru wavatongi; iye wakange ari Adhino muEzini, wakauraya vanhu vana mazana masere nenguva imwe.

⁸These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Joseb-Bassebeth, Tachkemonite the chief of the captains: he was Adino the Eznite; he [fought] against eight hundred, slain [by him] at one time.

⁹Wakamutevera wakange ari Ereazari mwanakomana waDhodhai, mwanakomana womuAhohi, mumwe wemhare nhatu dzakanga dzinaDhavhidhi, musi wavakavamba vaFirisitia vakanga vaungana kuzorwa, varume vaIsiraeri vabva;

⁹And after him, Eleazar the son of Dodo the son of an Ahohite: he was one of the three mighty men with David, when they had defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone up.

¹⁰iye akasimuka, akabaya vaFirisitia kusvikira ruoko rwake rwaneta, ruoko rwake rukawomerera pamunondo wake; Jehovha akavakundisa kwazvo nomusi iwoyo, vanhu vakadzoka vachimutevera, kuzopamba koga.

¹⁰He arose and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave to the sword; and Jehovah wrought a great deliverance that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

¹¹Wakamutevera wakange ari Shama mwanakomana waAgee, muHarari. VaFirisitia vakanga vaungana paRehi, pakanga pane bindu renyemba; vanhu vakatiza vaFirisitia.

¹¹And after him, Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite: the Philistines were gathered into a troop, and there was there a plot of ground full of lentils, and the people had fled before the Philistines;

¹²Asi iye wakamira pakati pebindu, akarirwira, akauraya vaFirisitia; Jehovha akavakundisa kwazvo.

¹²and he stood in the midst of the plot and delivered it, and smote the Philistines, and Jehovah wrought a great deliverance.

¹³Zvino vatatu vavakuru vana makumi matatu vakaburuka, vakasvika kuna Dhavhidhi kubako reAdhuramu, nenguva yokukohwa; boka ravaFirisitia; rakanga radzika matende pamupata weRefaimu.

¹³And three of the thirty chiefs went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam, when the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

¹⁴Zvino nenguva iyo Dhavhidhi wakange ari munhare, uye varwi vavaFirisitia vaiva paBheterehemu nenguva iyo.

¹⁴And David was then in the stronghold; and the Philistines' garrison was then at Bethlehem.

¹⁵Dhavhidhi akapanga, akati, Haiwa! Dai mumwe achindipa mvura yetsime reBheterehemu, riri pasuwo, ndimwe!

¹⁵And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me to drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is in the gate!

¹⁶Ipapo mhare idzo nhatu dzakapasanura napakati pehondo yavaFirisitia, vakandoteka mvura patsime reBheterehemu, riri pasuwo, vakaitora vakauya nayo kuna Dhavhidhi; asi iye wakaramba kuimwa, akaidururira kuna Jehovha.

¹⁶And the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, which is in the gate, and took it, and brought it to David; however he would not drink of it, but poured it out to Jehovah.

¹⁷Akati, Ngazvisadaro, Jehovha, handingaiti chinhu ichi! Ndingamwa ropa ravarume ava vakaenda vasingarangariri upenyu hwavo here? Naizvozvo akaramba kuimwa. Ndizvo zvakaitwa nemhare idzo.

¹⁷And he said, Be it far from me, Jehovah, that I should do this thing! is it not the blood of the men that went at the risk of their lives? Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.

¹⁸Abhishai munin'ina waJoabhu, mwanakomana waZeruya, wakange ari mukuru wavatatu avo. Ndiye wakasimudza pfumo rake akarwa navanhu vana mazana matatu, akavauraya, akava nomukurumbira pakati pavatatu avo.

¹⁸And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was the chief of three; and he brandished his spear against three hundred and slew them; and he had a name among the three.

¹⁹Iye wakarumbidzwa zvikuru pakati pavatatu avo; naizvozvo akaitwa mukuru wavo, asi haana kuenzana navatatu vokutanga.

¹⁹Was he not most honourable of three? and he was their captain; but he did not attain to the [first] three.

²⁰Bhenaya mwanakomana waJehoyadha, mwanakomana wemhare yeKabhizeeri, wakange aita mabasa makuru, iye wakauraya vanakomana vaviri vaArieri waMoabhu, akandourayawo shumba mukati mehuzha panguva yechando;

²⁰And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, son of a valiant man, great in exploits, of Kabzeel: he it was that smote two lions of Moab; and he went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day.

²¹He also smote the Egyptian, an imposing man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

²²These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and he had a name among the three mighty men.

²³Iye wakange achirumbidzwa kupfuura vana makumi matatu, asi haana kuenzana navatatu vokutanga. Dhavhidhi akamuita mutariri wavarindi vake.

²³He was honoured above the thirty, but he did not attain to the [first] three. And David set him in his council.

²⁴Ashaheri munin'ina waJoabhu wakange ari mumwe wavana makumi matatu, naErihanani mwanakomana waDhodho weBheterehemu;

²⁴Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

²⁵naShama muHarodhi, naErika muHarodhi;

²⁵Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

²⁶naHerezi muPariti, naIra mwanakomana waIkeshe muTekoi;

²⁶Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,

²⁷naAbhiezeri muAnatoti, naMebhunai muHushati;

²⁷Abiezer the Anathothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

²⁸naZarimoni muAhohi, naMaharai muNetofati;

²⁸Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

²⁹naHerebhu, mwanakomana waBhaana muNetofati, naItai mwanakomana waRibhai weGibhiya wavana vaBhenjamini;

²⁹Heleb the son of Baanah, the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,

³⁰naBhenaya muPiratoni, naHidai wehova dzeGaashi;

³⁰Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,

³¹naAbhiaribhoni muAribhati, naAzimavheti muBharihumi;

³¹Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,

³²naEriabha muShaaribhoni, naJonatani kuvana vaJasheni;

³²Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,

³³naShama muHarari, naAhiami mwanakomana waSharari muArari;

³³Shammah the Ararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Ararite,

³⁴naErifereti mwanakomana waAhashabhai, mwanakomana womuMaakati, naEriami mwanakomana waAhitoferi muGironi;

³⁴Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,

³⁵naHezero muKarimeri, naParai muAribhi;

³⁵Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,

³⁶naIgari mwanakomana waNatani weZobha, naBhani muGadhi;

³⁶Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,

³⁷naZereki muAmoni, naNaharai muBheeroti, vaibata nhumbi dzokurwa nadzo dzaJoabhu mwanakomana waZeruya;

³⁷Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, the armour-bearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,

³⁸naIra muItiri, naGarebhi muItiri;

³⁸Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,

³⁹naUriya muHiti, vose makumi matatu navanomwe.

³⁹Uriah the Hittite: thirty-seven in all.
