Luke

23

1Zvino chaunga chavo chose chakasimuka, chikamutungamidza kuna Pirato.
1And the whole multitude of them, rising up, led him to Pilate.
2Zvino vakatanga kumupomera, vachiti: Tawana uyu achitsausa rudzi, nekudzivisa kupa mutero kuna Kesari, achiti iye pachake ndiKristu Mambo.
2And they began to accuse him, saying, We have found this [man] perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ, a king.
3Zvino Pirato wakamubvunza achiti: Iwe uri Mambo wevaJudha here? Ndokumupindura, akati: Unoreva iwe.
3And Pilate demanded of him saying, Art *thou* the king of the Jews? And he answering him said, Thou sayest.
4Pirato ndokuti kuvapristi vakuru nezvaunga: Handiwani mhosva kumunhu uyu.
4And Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, I find no guilt in this man.
5Asi vakasimbisa, vachiti: Unopesva vanhu, achidzidzisa muJudhiya rose, kutanga paGarirea kusvikira pano.
5But they insisted, saying, He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judaea, beginning from Galilee even on to here.
6Pirato wakati anzwa zveGarirea, akabvunza kana munhu uyu ari muGarirea.
6But Pilate, having heard Galilee [named], demanded if the man were a Galilaean;
7Zvino paakangoziva kuti ndeweushe hwaHerodhe, wakamutumira kuna Herodhe, iye waivawo muJerusarema pamazuva iwayo.
7and having learned that he was of Herod's jurisdiction, remitted him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem in those days.
8Zvino Herodhe paakaona Jesu wakafara zvikurusa; nekuti waishuva kumuona kwenguva refu, nekuti wakange anzwa zvinhu zvizhinji pamusoro pake; uye wakatarisira kuona chimwe chiratidzo chichiitwa naye.
8And when Herod saw Jesus he greatly rejoiced, for he had been a long while desirous of seeing him, because of hearing many things concerning him, and he hoped to see some sign done by him;
9Ndokumubvunza nemashoko mazhinji; asi iye haana kumupindura chinhu.
9and he questioned him in many words, but *he* answered him nothing.
10Zvino vapristi vakuru nevanyori vakamira vakamupomera zvine simba.
10And the chief priests and the scribes stood and accused him violently.
11NaHerodhe nemauto ake vakamuzvidza, nekusweveredza, vakamupfekedza nguvo inobwinya, vakamudzosera kuna Pirato.
11And Herod with his troops having set him at nought and mocked him, having put a splendid robe upon him, sent him back to Pilate.
12Nemusi iwoyo Pirato naHerodhe vakava shamwari neshamwari; nekuti paimbova neruvengo pakati pavo.
12And Pilate and Herod became friends with one another the same day, for they had been at enmity before between themselves.
13Zvino Pirato wakati adanira pamwe vapristi vakuru nevatungamiriri nevanhu,
13And Pilate, having called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14akati kwavari: Mauyisa munhu uyu kwandiri seunotsausa vanhu; zvino tarirai ini ndaongorora pamberi penyu, handina kuwana mhosva kumunhu uyu yezvinhu zvamunomupomera;
14said to them, Ye have brought to me this man as turning away the people [to rebellion], and behold, I, having examined him before you, have found nothing criminal in this man as to the things of which ye accuse him;
15kwete, kunyange Herodhe; nekuti ndinokutumai kwaari; zvino tarirai, hapana chakafanira rufu chakaitwa naye.
15nor Herod either, for I remitted you to him, and behold, nothing worthy of death is done by him.
16Naizvozvo ndichamurova ndigomusunungura.
16Having chastised him therefore, I will release him.
17Nekuti zvaiva zvakafanira kuti avasunungurire umwe pamutambo.
17( Now he was obliged to release one for them at the feast.)
18Asi vose vakadanidzira pamwe vachiti: Kure neuyu, asi mutisunungurire Bharabhasi.
18But they cried out in a mass saying, Away with this [man] and release Barabbas to us;
19(Iye wakange akandirwa mutirongo nemhaka yerimwe bongozozo rakange raitika muguta, uye nemhaka yeumhondi).
19who was one who, for a certain tumult which had taken place in the city, and [for] murder, had been cast into prison.
20Naizvozvo Pirato achida kusunungura Jesu, wakataurazve kwavari.
20Pilate therefore, desirous to release Jesus, again addressed [them].
21Asi vakadanidzira, vachiti: Roverera pamuchinjikwa, muroverere pamuchinjikwa!
21But they cried out in reply saying, Crucify, crucify him.
22Akati kwavari rwechitatu: Nemhaka yei, iye waita chakaipa chipi? Handina kuwana mhosva yerufu maari; naizvozvo ndichamurova ndigomusunungura.
22And he said the third time to them, What evil then has this [man] done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will chastise him therefore and release him.
23Asi vakasimbisa nemanzwi makuru, vachikumbira kuti arovererwe pamuchinjikwa. Manzwi avo neevapristi vakuru akabudirira.
23But they were urgent with loud voices, begging that he might be crucified. And their voices [and those of the chief priests] prevailed.
24Zvino Pirato akagura kuti chikumbiro chavo chiitike.
24And Pilate adjudged that what they begged should take place.
25Akavasunungurira uyo wavakakumbira, wakange akandwa mutirongo nekuda kwebongozozo neumhondi; asi akakumikidza Jesu kuchido chavo.
25And he released him who, for tumult and murder, had been cast into prison, whom they begged for, and Jesus he delivered up to their will.
26Zvino vakati vachimutungamidza, vakabata umwe Simoni muKurini achibva kuruwa, vakamutakudza muchinjikwa, kuti atakure shure kwaJesu.
26And as they led him away, they laid hold on a certain Simon, a Cyrenian, coming from the field, and put the cross upon him to bear it behind Jesus.
27Zvino kwakatevera kwaari chaunga chikuru chevanhu, nevakadzi vairirawo nekumuchema.
27And a great multitude of the people, and of women who wailed and lamented him, followed him.
28Asi Jesu wakatendeukira kwavari akati: Vakunda veJerusarema, musachemera ini, asi muzvichemere imwi nevana venyu;
28And Jesus turning round to them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep over me, but weep over yourselves and over your children;
29nekuti tarirai, mazuva anouya avachati nawo: Dzakaropafadzwa mhanje, nezvizvaro zvisina kubereka, nemazamu asina kumwisa.
29for behold, days are coming in which they will say, Blessed [are] the barren, and wombs that have not borne, and breasts that have not given suck.
30Ipapo vachatanga kuti kumakomo: Wirai pamusoro pedu; nekuzvikomo: Tifukidzei.
30Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall upon us; and to the hills, Cover us:
31Nekuti kana vachiita zvinhu izvi kumuti munyoro, chii chichaitika kune wakawoma?
31for if these things are done in the green tree, what shall take place in the dry?
32Zvino kwakatungamidzwawo vamwe vaiti vezvakaipa vaviri, kuti vaurawe pamwe naye.
32Now two others also, malefactors, were led with him to be put to death.
33Zvino vakati vasvika panzvimbo inonzi Dehenya, ipapo vakamuroverera pamuchinjikwa, nevaiti vezvakaipa, umwe kuruoko rwerudyi, neumwe kuruboshwe.
33And when they came to the place which is called Skull, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, the other on the left.
34Jesu ndokuti: Baba, vakangamwirei; nekuti havazivi chavanoita. Zvino vakagovana nguvo dzake, vakakanda mujenya.
34And Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. And, parting out his garments, they cast lots.
35Vanhu ndokumira vakatarira. Nevatongiwo pamwe navo vakamusweveredza, vachiti: Wakaponesa vamwe, ngaazviponese, kana iye ari Kristu, musanangurwa waMwari.
35And the people stood beholding, and the rulers also [with them] sneered, saying, He has saved others; let him save himself if this is the Christ, the chosen one of God.
36Nemautowo akamusweveredza, achimuvigira vhiniga,
36And the soldiers also made game of him, coming up offering him vinegar,
37uye vachiti: Kana iwe uri Mambo wevaJudha, zviponese.
37and saying, If *thou* be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38Zvino kwakange kune rugwarowo rwakanyorwa pamusoro pake nemavara echiGiriki nechiRoma nechiHebheru, rwaiti: UYU NDIMAMBO WEVAJUDHA.
38And there was also an inscription [written] over him in Greek, and Roman, and Hebrew letters: This is the King of the Jews.
39Uye umwe wevaiti vezvakaipa vakange vakaremberedzwa wakamunyomba achiti: Kana iwe uri Kristu, zviponese iwe nesu.
39Now one of the malefactors who had been hanged spoke insultingly to him, saying, Art not thou the Christ? save thyself and us.
40Asi umwe wakapindura achimutsiura, achiti: Iwe hautyi Mwari kanhi, zvauri pakutongwa kumwe?
40But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost *thou* too not fear God, thou that art under the same judgment?
41Isu zvirokwazvo zvakarurama, nekuti tinogamuchira zvakafanira mabasa edu; asi uyu haana kuita chinhu chisakafanira.
41and *we* indeed justly, for we receive the just recompense of what we have done; but this [man] has done nothing amiss.
42Zvino akati kuna Jesu: Ishe mundirangarire kana masvika muushe hwenyu.
42And he said to Jesus, Remember me, [Lord,] when thou comest in thy kingdom.
43Jesu ndokuti kwaari: Zvirokwazvo ndinoti kwauri: Nhasi uchava neni muParadhiso.
43And Jesus said to him, Verily I say to thee, To-day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44Zvino rakange rava awa rinenge rechitanhatu; kukavapo rima pamusoro penyika yose, kusvikira paawa repfumbamwe.
44And it was about [the] sixth hour, and there came darkness over the whole land until [the] ninth hour.
45Nezuva rakadzikatirwa, uye vheiri retembere rakabvarurwa nepakati.
45And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple rent in the midst.
46Zvino Jesu wakati adanidzira nenzwi guru achiti: Baba, mumaoko enyu ndinokumikidza mweya wangu; akati areva izvozvi, akapa mweya.
46And Jesus, having cried with a loud voice, said, Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit. And having said this, he expired.
47Zvino mukuru wezana wakati aona zvakaitika, akarumbidza Mwari, achiti: Zvirokwazvo munhu uyu wakange akarurama.
47Now the centurion, seeing what took place, glorified God, saying, In very deed this man was just.
48Nezvaunga zvose zvakange zvakaungana kuzoona izvozvo, zvakati zvichiona zvakaitika, zvikadzokera zvichizvirova zvifuva.
48And all the crowds who had come together to that sight, having seen the things that took place, returned, beating [their] breasts.
49Nevazikanwi vake vose, nevakadzi vaimutevera vachibva Garirea, vakamira kure, vachiona zvinhu izvi.
49And all those who knew him stood afar off, the women also who had followed him from Galilee, beholding these things.
50Zvino tarira, murume wainzi Josefa, nhengo yedare, murume wakanaka uye wakarurama;
50And behold, a man named Joseph, who was a councillor, a good man and a just
51iye wakange asina kutenderana nezano nechiito chavo; waiva weArimatia, guta revaJudha, naiyewo wakange achimirira ushe hwaMwari.
51(this [man] had not assented to their counsel and deed), of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, who also waited, [himself also,] for the kingdom of God
52Iye wakaenda kuna Pirato akakukumbira mutumbi waJesu.
52-- he having gone to Pilate begged the body of Jesus;
53Zvino wakauburusa, akauputira nemucheka werineni, ndokuuradzika muguva rakange rakacherwa pabwe, makange musina kumboradzikwa munhu.
53and having taken it down, wrapped it in fine linen and placed him in a tomb hewn in the rock, where no one had ever been laid.
54Zvino waiva musi wegadziriro, uye sabata roswedera.
54And it was preparation day, and [the] sabbath twilight was coming on.
55Nevakadziwo, vakange vauya naye vachibva Garirea, vakatevera mumashure, vakaona guva, nekuti mutumbi wake waradzikwa sei.
55And women, who had come along with him out of Galilee, having followed, saw the sepulchre and how his body was placed.
56Uye vakadzokera, vakagadzirira zvinonhuhwira nezvizoro. Zvino vakazorora nesabata zvichienderana nemurairo.
56And having returned they prepared aromatic spices and ointments, and remained quiet on the sabbath, according to the commandment.
