1А за часе и времена, браћо, није вам потребно писати;
1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2Јер сами знате јамачно да ће дан Господњи доћи као лупеж по ноћи.
2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3Јер кад кажу: Мир је, и нема се шта бојати, онда ће изненада напасти на њих погибао као бол на трудну жену, и неће утећи.
3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4Али ви, браћо, нисте у тами да вас дан као лупеж застане.
4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5Јер сте ви сви синови видела и синови дана: нисмо ноћи нити таме.
5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6Тако дакле да не спавамо као и остали, него да пазимо и да будемо трезни.
6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7Јер који спавају, у ноћи спавају, и који се опијају, у ноћи се опијају.
7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8Али ми који смо синови дана да будемо трезни и обучени у оклоп вере и љубави, и с кацигом наде спасења;
8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9Јер нас Бог не постави за гнев, него да добијемо спасење кроз Господа свог Исуса Христа,
9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10Који умре за нас да ми, стражили или спавали, заједно с Њим живимо.
10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11Тога ради утешавајте један другог, и поправљајте сваки ближњег, као што и чините.
11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
12Молимо вас пак, браћо, препознајте оне који се труде међу вама, и настојнике своје у Господу и учитеље своје,
12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13И имајте их у изобилној љубави за дело њихово. Будите мирни међу собом.
13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14Молимо вас пак, браћо, поучавајте неуредне, утешавајте малодушне, браните слабе, сносите сваког.
14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15Гледајте да нико не враћа коме зла за зло;
15See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16Него свагда идите за добрим, и међу собом, према свима.
16Rejoice evermore.
17Радујте се свагда.
17Pray without ceasing.
18Молите се Богу без престанка. На свачему захваљујте; јер је ово воља Божија у Христу Исусу од вас.
18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19Духа не гасите. Пророштва не презирите.
19Quench not the Spirit.
20А све кушајући добро држите.
20Despise not prophesyings.
21Уклањајте се од сваког зла.
21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22А сам Бог мира да посвети вас целе у свачему;
22Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23И цео ваш дух и душа и тело да се сачува без кривице за долазак Господа нашег Исуса Христа.
23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24Веран је Онај који вас дозва, који ће и учинити.
24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25Браћо! Молите се Богу за нас.
25Brethren, pray for us.
26Поздравите браћу сву целивом светим.
26Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
27Заклињем вас Господом да прочитате ову посланицу пред свом браћом светом.
27I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28Благодат Господа нашег Исуса Христа с вама. Амин.
28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
