1Зато да оставимо почетак Христове науке и да се дамо на савршенство: да не постављамо опет темеља покајања од мртвих дела, и вере у Бога,
1Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2Науке крштења, и стављања руку, и васкрсења мртвих, и суда вечног.
2Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
3И ово ћемо учинити ако Бог допусти.
3And this will we do, if God permit.
4Јер није могуће оне који су једном просветљени, окусили дар небески, постали заједничари Духа Светог,
4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5И окусили добру реч Божју, и силу оног света, и отпали,
5And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6Опет обновити на покајање, јер сами себи наново распињу и руже сина Божијег.
6If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
7Јер земља која пије дажд што често на њу пада, и која рађа поврће добро онима који је раде, прима благослов од Бога;
7For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
8А која износи трње и чичак, непотребна је и клетве близу, која се најпосле сажеже.
8But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.
9Али од вас, љубазни, надамо се бољем и шта се држи спасења, ако и говоримо тако.
9But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.
10Јер Бог није неправедан да заборави дело ваше и труд љубави коју показасте у име Његово, послуживши светима и служећи.
10For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
11Али желимо да сваки од вас покаже то исто старање да се нада одржи тврдо до самог краја;
11And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
12Да не будете лениви, него да се угледате на оне који вером и трпљењем добијају обећања.
12That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
13Јер кад Бог Авраму обећа, не имајући ничим већим да се закуне, закле се собом,
13For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
14Говорећи: Заиста благосиљајући благословићу те, и умножавајући умножићу те.
14Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
15И тако трпећи дуго, доби обећање.
15And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
16Јер се људи већим куну, и свакој њиховој свађи свршетак је заклетва за потврђење.
16For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.
17Зато и Бог кад хтеде наследницима обећања обилније да покаже тврђу завета свог, учини посредника клетву:
17Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
18Да би у двема непоколебљивим стварима, у којима Богу није могуће слагати, имали јаку утеху ми који смо прибегли да се ухватимо за наду која нам је дана,
18That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
19Који имамо као тврд и поуздан ленгер душе, који улази и за најдаље завесе,
19Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
20Где Исус уђе напред за нас, поставши поглавар свештенички довека по реду Мелхиседековом.
20Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
