1Шта ћемо дакле рећи за Авраама, оца свог, да је по телу нашао?
1What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2Јер ако се Авраам делима оправда, има хвалу, али не у Бога.
2For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3Јер шта говори писмо? Верова Авраам Богу, и прими му се у правду.
3For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4А ономе који ради не броји се плата по милости него по дугу.
4Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5А ономе који не ради, а верује Оног који правда безбожника, прима се вера његова у правду.
5But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6Као што и Давид говори да је благо човеку коме Бог прима правду без дела закона:
6Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7Благо онима који се опростише безакоња, и којима се греси прикрише.
7Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8Благо човеку коме Господ не прима греха.
8Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
9Ово, дакле, блаженство или је у обрезању или у необрезању? Јер говоримо да се Аврааму прими вера у правду.
9Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
10Како му се, дакле, прими? Или кад је био у обрезању или необрезању? Не у обрезању него у необрезању.
10How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
11И прими знак обрезања као печат правде вере коју имаше у необрезању, да би био отац свих који верују у необрезању; да се и њима прими у правду;
11And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
12И да би био отац обрезања не само онима који су од обрезања, него и онима који ходе стопама вере која беше у необрезању оца нашег Авраама.
12And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.
13Јер обећање Аврааму или семену његовом да буде наследник свету не би законом него правдом вере.
13For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
14Јер ако су наследници они који су од закона, пропаде вера, и поквари се обећање.
14For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
15Јер закон гради гнев; јер где нема закона нема ни преступа.
15Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
16Зато од вере да буде по милости да обећање тврдо остане свему семену, не само који је од закона него и који је од вере Авраама, који је отац свима нама,
16Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17(Као што стоји написано: Поставих те оца многим народима) пред Богом коме верова, који оживљује мртве, и зове оно што није као оно што јесте:
17(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
18Он верова на наду кад се није било ничему надати да ће он бити отац многим народима, као што му беше речено: Тако ће бити семе твоје.
18Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19И не ослабивши вером не погледа ни на своје већ уморено тело, јер му беше негде око сто година, ни на мртвост Сарине материце.
19And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:
20И за обећање Божије не посумња се неверовањем, него ојача у вери, и даде славу Богу.
20He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21И знаше јамачно да шта обећа кадар је и да учини.
21And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22Зато се и прими њему у правду.
22And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23Али није писано за њега једног само да му се прими,
23Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24Него и за нас, којима ће се примити ако верујемо Оног који васкрсе Исуса Христа Господа нашег из мртвих,
24But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25Који се предаде за грехе наше, и устаде за оправдање наше.
25Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
