¹Judas, Jesu Kristi tjänare och Jakobs broder, hälsar de kallade, dem som äro upptagna i Guds, Faderns, kärlek och bevarade åt Jesus Kristus.

¹Judas, of Jesus Christ a servant, and brother of James, to those sanctified in God the Father, and in Jesus Christ kept — called,

²Barmhärtighet och frid och kärlek föröke sig hos eder.

²kindness to you, and peace, and love, be multiplied!

³Mina älskade, då jag nu med all iver har tagit mig för att skriva till eder om vår gemensamma frälsning, finner jag det nödigt att i min skrivelse förmana eder att kämpa för den tro som en gång för alla har blivit meddelad åt de heliga.

³Beloved, all diligence using to write to you concerning the common salvation, I had necessity to write to you, exhorting to agonize for the faith once delivered to the saints,

⁴Några människor hava nämligen innästlat sig hos eder -- några om vilka det för länge sedan blev skrivet att de skulle hemfalla under den domen -- ogudaktiga människor, som missbruka vår Guds nåd till lösaktighet och förneka vår ende härskare och herre, Jesus Kristus.

⁴for there did come in unobserved certain men, long ago having been written beforehand to this judgment, impious, the grace of our God perverting to lasciviousness, and our only Master, God, and Lord — Jesus Christ — denying,

⁵Men fastän I redan en gång haven fått kunskap om alltsammans, vill jag påminna eder därom, att Herren, sedan han hade frälst sitt folk ur Egyptens land, efteråt förgjorde dem som icke trodde,

⁵and to remind you I intend, you knowing once this, that the Lord, a people out of the land of Egypt having saved, again those who did not believe did destroy;

⁶så ock därom, att de änglar som icke behöllo sin furstehöghet, utan övergåvo sin boning, hava av honom med eviga bojor blivit förvarade i mörker till den stora dagens dom.

⁶messengers also, those who did not keep their own principality, but did leave their proper dwelling, to a judgment of a great day, in bonds everlasting, under darkness He hath kept,

⁷Likaså hava ock Sodom och Gomorra med kringliggande städer, vilka på samma sätt som de förra bedrevo otukt och stodo efter annat umgänge än det naturliga, blivit satta till ett varnande exempel, i det att de få lida straff i evig eld.

⁷as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them, in like manner to these, having given themselves to whoredom, and gone after other flesh, have been set before — an example, of fire age-during, justice suffering.

⁸Dock göra nu också dessa människor på samma sätt, förblindade av sina drömmar: köttet besmitta de, men andevärldens herrar förakta de, och dess härlige smäda de.

⁸In like manner, nevertheless, those dreaming also the flesh indeed do defile, and lordship they put away, and dignities they speak evil of,

⁹Icke så Mikael, överängeln; när denne tvistade med djävulen angående Moses' kropp, dristade han sig icke att över honom uttala någon smädande dom, utan sade allenast: »Herren näpse dig.»

⁹yet Michael, the chief messenger, when, with the devil contending, he was disputing about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring up an evil-speaking judgment, but said, `The Lord rebuke thee!`

¹⁰Dessa åter smäda vad de icke känna till; och vad de, likasom de oskäliga djuren, med sina naturliga sinnen kunna fatta, det bruka de till sitt fördärv.

¹⁰and these, as many things indeed as they have not known, they speak evil of; and as many things as naturally (as the irrational beasts) they understand, in these they are corrupted;

¹¹Ve dem! De hava trätt in på Kains väg, de hava för löns skull störtat sig i Balaams villfarelse och hava gått förlorade till följd av en gensträvighet lik Koras.

¹¹wo to them! because in the way of Cain they did go on, and to the deceit of Balaam for reward they did rush, and in the gainsaying of Korah they did perish.

¹²Det är dessa som få hålla gästabud med eder, där de sitta såsom skamfläckar vid edra kärleksmåltider och oförsynt se sig själva till godo. De äro skyar utan vatten, skyar som drivas bort av vindarna. De äro träd som stå nakna på senhösten, ofruktbara, i dubbel måtto döda, uppryckta med rötterna.

¹²These are in your love-feasts craggy rocks; feasting together with you, without fear shepherding themselves; clouds without water, by winds carried about; trees autumnal, without fruit, twice dead, rooted up;

¹³De äro vilda havsvågor som uppkasta sina egna skändligheters skum. De äro irrande stjärnor, åt vilka det svarta mörkret är förvarat till evig tid.

¹³wild waves of a sea, foaming out their own shames; stars going astray, to whom the gloom of the darkness to the age hath been kept.

¹⁴Om dessa var det ock som Enok, den sjunde från Adam, profeterade och sade: »Se, Herren kommer med sina mångtusen heliga,

¹⁴And prophesy also to these did the seventh from Adam — Enoch — saying, `Lo, the Lord did come in His saintly myriads,

¹⁵för att hålla dom över alla och bestraffa alla de ogudaktiga för alla de ogudaktiga gärningar som de hava övat, och för alla de förmätna ord som de i sin syndiga ogudaktighet hava talat mot honom.»

¹⁵to do judgment against all, and to convict all their impious ones, concerning all their works of impiety that they did impiously, and concerning all the stiff things that speak against Him did impious sinners.`

¹⁶De äro människor som alltid knorra och knota över sin lott, medan de likväl vandra efter sina egna begärelser. Och deras mun talar stora ord, under det att de dock av egennytta söka vara människor till behag.

¹⁶These are murmurers, repiners; according to their desires walking, and their mouth doth speak great swellings, giving admiration to persons for the sake of profit;

¹⁷Men kommen ihåg, I mina älskade, vad som har blivit förutsagt av vår Herres, Jesu Kristi, apostlar,

¹⁷and ye, beloved, remember ye the sayings spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:

¹⁸huru de sade till eder: »I den yttersta tiden skola bespottare uppstå, som vandra efter sina egna ogudaktiga begärelser.»

¹⁸that they said to you, that in the last time there shall be scoffers, after their own desires of impieties going on,

¹⁹Det är dessa människor som vålla söndringar, dessa som äro »själiska» och icke hava ande.

¹⁹these are those setting themselves apart, natural men, the Spirit not having.

²⁰Men I, mina älskade, uppbyggen eder på eder allraheligaste tro, bedjen i den helige Ande,

²⁰And ye, beloved, on your most holy faith building yourselves up, in the Holy Spirit praying,

²¹och bevaren eder så i Guds kärlek, under det att I vänten på vår Herres, Jesu Kristi, barmhärtighet, till evigt liv.

²¹yourselves in the love of God keep ye, waiting for the kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ — to life age-during;

²²Mot somliga av dem, sådana som äro tvivlande, mån I vara barmhärtiga

²²and to some be kind, judging thoroughly,

²³och frälsa dem genom att rycka dem ur elden; mot de andra mån I också vara barmhärtiga, dock med fruktan, så att I avskyn till och med deras livklädnad, den av köttet befläckade.

²³and some in fear save ye, out of the fire snatching, hating even the coat from the flesh spotted.

²⁴Men honom som förmår bevara eder ifrån fall och ställa eder inför sin härlighet ostraffliga, i fröjd,

²⁴And to Him who is able to guard you not stumbling, and to set [you] in the presence of His glory unblemished, in gladness,

²⁵honom som allena är Gud, och som är vår Frälsare genom Jesus Kristus, vår Herre, honom tillhör ära, majestät, välde och makt, såsom före all tid, så ock nu och i alla evigheter. Amen.

²⁵to the only wise God our Saviour, [is] glory and greatness, power and authority, both now and to all the ages! Amen.
