¹Ndugu, hakuna haja ya kuwaandikieni juu ya nyakati na majira yatakapotukia mambo haya.

¹But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.

²Maana ninyi wenyewe mwajua kwamba Siku ya Bwana itakuja kama mwizi ajavyo usiku.

²For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.

³Watu watakapokuwa wanasema: "Kila kitu ni shwari na salama" ndipo uharibifu utakapowaangukia ghafla! Mambo hayo yatatukia ghafla kama uchungu wa uzazi unavyomjia mama anayejifungua, wala watu hawataweza kuepukana nayo.

³For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman; and they will in no way escape.

⁴Lakini ninyi ndugu, hamko gizani, na siku hiyo haipaswi kuwajieni ghafla kama vile mwizi.

⁴But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief.

⁵Ninyi nyote ni watu mnaoishi katika mwanga, watu wa mchana. Sisi si watu wa usiku, wala wa giza.

⁵You are all children of light, and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,

⁶Basi, tusilale usingizi kama wengine; tunapaswa kukesha na kuwa na kiasi.

⁶so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.

⁷Wanaolala hulala usiku, na walevi hulewa usiku.

⁷For those who sleep, sleep in the night, and those who are drunk are drunk in the night.

⁸Lakini sisi ni watu wa mchana na tunapaswa kuwa na kiasi. Tunapaswa kuvaa imani na upendo kama vazi la kujikinga kifuani, na tumaini letu la wokovu kama kofia ya chuma.

⁸But let us, since we belong to the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

⁹Maana Mungu hakututeua ili tuangamizwe na ghadhabu yake, bali tuupate wokovu kwa njia ya Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo,

⁹For God didn’t appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁰ambaye alikufa kwa ajili yetu, ili tuishi pamoja naye, iwe tu hai au tumekufa.

¹⁰who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

¹¹Kwa hiyo farijianeni na kusaidiana ninyi kwa ninyi kama mnavyofanya sasa.

¹¹Therefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do.

¹²Ndugu, tunawaombeni muwastahi wale wanaofanya kazi kati yenu, wale wanaowaongoza na kuwafundisheni kuhusu maisha ya Kikristo.

¹²But we beg you, brothers, to know those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you,

¹³Wapeni heshima kubwa na kuwapenda kwa sababu ya kazi wanayofanya. Muwe na amani kati yenu.

¹³and to respect and honor them in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.

¹⁴Ndugu, tunawahimizeni muwaonye watu walio wavivu, muwatie moyo watu wanyonge, muwasaidie watu dhaifu, muwe na subira kwa wote.

¹⁴We exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient toward all.

¹⁵Angalieni mtu yeyote asimlipe mwingine maovu kwa maovu, ila nia yenu iwe kutendeana mema daima na kuwatendea mema watu wote.

¹⁵See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good, for one another, and for all.

¹⁶Furahini daima,

¹⁶Rejoice always.

¹⁷salini kila wakati

¹⁷Pray without ceasing.

¹⁸na muwe na shukrani katika kila hali. Hayo ndiyo anayotaka Mungu kwenu katika kuungana kwenu na Kristo Yesu.

¹⁸In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.

¹⁹Msimpinge Roho Mtakatifu;

¹⁹Don’t quench the Spirit.

²⁰msidharau unabii.

²⁰Don’t despise prophesies.

²¹Pimeni kila kitu: zingatieni kilicho chema,

²¹Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good.

²²na epukeni kila aina ya uovu.

²²Abstain from every form of evil.

²³Mungu anayetupatia amani awafanye ninyi watakatifu kwa kila namna na kuzilinda nafsi zenu--roho, mioyo na miili yenu--mbali na hatia yoyote wakati wa kuja kwake Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo.

²³May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁴Yeye anayewaita ninyi atafanya hivyo kwani ni mwaminifu.

²⁴He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it.

²⁵Ndugu, tuombeeni na sisi pia.

²⁵Brothers, pray for us.

²⁶Wasalimuni ndugu wote kwa ishara ya upendo.

²⁶Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.

²⁷Nawahimizeni kwa jina la Bwana muwasomee ndugu zetu wote barua hii.

²⁷I solemnly command you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the holy brothers.

²⁸Tunawatakieni neema ya Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo.

²⁸The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
