1แล้วคนอิสราเอลทั้งสิ้นก็ชุมนุมอยู่ด้วยกันเฝ้าดาวิดที่เมืองเฮโบรนทูลว่า "ดูเถิด ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายเป็นกระดูกและเนื้อของพระองค์
1Then all Israel gathered themselves to David to Hebron, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
2ในกาลก่อน แม้เมื่อซาอูลทรงเป็นกษัตริย์ พระองค์ทรงเป็นผู้นำอิสราเอลออกไปและเข้ามา และพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพระองค์ตรัสแก่พระองค์ว่า `เจ้าจะเลี้ยงดูอิสราเอลประชาชนของเรา และเจ้าจะเป็นเจ้าเหนืออิสราเอลประชาชนของเรา'"
2In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’”
3ดังนั้นพวกผู้ใหญ่ทั้งสิ้นของคนอิสราเอลก็มาเฝ้ากษัตริย์ที่เมืองเฮโบรน และดาวิดทรงกระทำพันธสัญญากับเขาทั้งหลายที่เมืองเฮโบรนต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ และเขาทั้งหลายก็เจิมตั้งดาวิดให้เป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล ตามพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์โดยซามูเอล
3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of Yahweh by Samuel.
4ดาวิดและคนอิสราเอลทั้งสิ้นไปยังเยรูซาเล็ม คือเยบุส ที่นั่นคนเยบุสอยู่ ซึ่งเป็นชาวแผ่นดินนั้น
4David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (the same is Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.
5ชาวเมืองเยบุสทูลดาวิดว่า "พระองค์จะเสด็จเข้ามาที่นี่ไม่ได้" อย่างไรก็ดี ดาวิดทรงยึดที่กำบังเข้มแข็งแห่งศิโยนไว้ คือนครของดาวิด
5The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You shall not come in here.” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. The same is the city of David.
6ดาวิดรับสั่งว่า "ผู้ที่โจมตีคนเยบุสได้ก่อนจะได้เป็นหัวหน้าและผู้บังคับบัญชา" และโยอาบบุตรชายของนางเศรุยาห์ได้ยกขึ้นไปก่อน ท่านจึงได้เป็นหัวหน้า
6David said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.
7และดาวิดทรงประทับอยู่ในที่กำบังเข้มแข็ง เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจึงเรียกว่า นครของดาวิด
7David lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it the city of David.
8และพระองค์ทรงสร้างเมืองรอบ ตั้งแต่มิลโลโดยรอบ และโยอาบก็ซ่อมส่วนที่เหลือของเมืองนั้น
8He built the city all around, from Millo even around; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9และดาวิดทรงจำเริญยิ่งๆขึ้น เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาทรงสถิตกับพระองค์
9David grew greater and greater; for Yahweh of Armies was with him.
10ต่อไปนี้เป็นคนที่เด่นในพวกวีรบุรุษของดาวิด ผู้สนับสนุนพระองค์อย่างแข็งแรงในราชอาณาจักรของพระองค์ ด้วยกันกับอิสราเอลทั้งสิ้น เชิญพระองค์ให้เป็นกษัตริย์ ตามพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์เกี่ยวด้วยเรื่องอิสราเอล
10Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of Yahweh concerning Israel.
11ต่อไปนี้เป็นจำนวนวีรบุรุษของดาวิด คือ ยาโชเบอัม คนฮักโมนี เป็นหัวหน้าพวกผู้บังคับบัญชา เขายกหอกของเขาสู้คนสามร้อย และฆ่าเสียในคราวเดียวกัน
11This is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them at one time.

12After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.

13He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where there was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
14แต่พวกเขายืนหยัดอยู่ท่ามกลางที่ดินแปลงนั้น และป้องกันมันไว้ ได้ฆ่าคนฟีลิสเตียเสีย และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงช่วยเขาทั้งหลายให้พ้นด้วยชัยชนะอันยิ่งใหญ่
14They stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh saved them by a great victory.
15สามคนในพวกทหารเอกทั้งสามสิบคนนั้นได้ลงไปถึงศิลาหาดาวิดที่ถ้ำอดุลลัม เมื่อกองทัพของคนฟีลิสเตียตั้งค่ายอยู่ที่หุบเขาเรฟาอิม
15Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the army of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
16คราวนั้นดาวิดอยู่ในที่กำบังเข้มแข็ง และทหารประจำป้อมของคนฟีลิสเตียอยู่ที่เบธเลเฮม
16David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.
17ดาวิดตรัสด้วยความอาลัยว่า "ใครหนอจะส่งน้ำจากบ่อที่เบธเลเฮมซึ่งอยู่ข้างประตูเมืองมาให้เราดื่มได้"
17David longed, and said, “Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”
18แล้วคนทั้งสามก็แหกค่ายของคนฟีลิสเตียเข้าไป และตักน้ำมาจากบ่อเบธเลเฮมที่ข้างประตูเมือง นำเอามาถวายดาวิด แต่ดาวิดหาทรงดื่มน้ำนั้นไม่ พระองค์ทรงเทออกถวายแด่พระเยโฮวาห์
18The three broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to Yahweh,
19ตรัสว่า "ขอพระเจ้าของข้าทรงห้ามข้าไม่ให้กระทำอย่างนี้ ควรหรือที่ข้าจะดื่มโลหิตของคนเหล่านี้ผู้ที่เสี่ยงชีวิตของเขา เพราะด้วยการเสี่ยงชีวิตของเขาเอง เขาได้เอาน้ำนี้มา" เพราะฉะนั้นพระองค์จึงหาทรงดื่มไม่ ทแกล้วทหารสามคนนั้นได้กระทำสิ่งนี้
19and said, “My God forbid it me, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy?” For they risked their lives to bring it. Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.
20ฝ่ายอาบีชัยน้องชายของโยอาบเป็นหัวหน้าของทั้งสามคนนั้น ท่านได้ยกหอกของท่านสู้คนสามร้อย และฆ่าเสีย และได้รับชื่อเสียงดั่งวีรบุรุษสามคนนั้น
20Abishai, the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three.
21ในสามคนนั้นท่านมีชื่อเสียงมากกว่าอีกสองคนนั้น และได้เป็นผู้บังคับบัญชาของเขา แต่ท่านไม่มียศเท่ากับสามคนแรกนั้น
21Of the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain: however he didn’t attain to the three.
22และเบไนยาห์บุตรชายเยโฮยาดา เป็นบุตรชายของคนเก่งกล้าแห่งเมืองขับเซเอล เป็นคนประกอบมหกิจ เขาได้ฆ่าคนดุจสิงโตของโมอับเสียสองคน เขาลงไปฆ่าสิงโตที่ในบ่อในวันที่หิมะตกด้วย
22Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, he killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab: he went down also and killed a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow.
23เขาได้ฆ่าคนอียิปต์คนหนึ่ง เป็นชายรูปร่างใหญ่โต สูงห้าศอก คนอียิปต์นั้นถือหอกเหมือนไม้กระพั่นทอผ้า แต่เบไนยาห์ถือไม้เท้าลงไปหาเขา และแย่งเอาหอกมาจากมือของคนอียิปต์ และฆ่าเขาเสียด้วยหอกของเขาเอง
23He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.
24สิ่งเหล่านี้เบไนยาห์บุตรชายเยโฮยาดาได้กระทำ และได้ชื่อเสียงในหมู่พวกทแกล้วทหารสามคนนั้น
24Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the three mighty men.
25ดูเถิด เขามีชื่อเสียงโด่งดังกว่าสามสิบคนนั้น แต่เขาไม่มียศเท่ากับสามคนแรกนั้น และดาวิดได้ทรงแต่งเขาให้เป็นผู้บังคับบัญชาทหารรักษาพระองค์
25Behold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three: and David set him over his guard.
26นอกนั้นมีพวกทแกล้วทหารของกองทัพคือ อาสาเฮลน้องชายของโยอาบ เอลฮานันบุตรชายของโดโดชาวเบธเลเฮม
26Also the mighty men of the armies: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

27Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
