1ดาวิดได้ทรงหารือกับนายพันและนายร้อย กับหัวหน้าทุกๆคน
1David consulted with the captains of thousands and of hundreds, even with every leader.
2และดาวิดตรัสกับชุมนุมชนอิสราเอลทั้งปวงว่า "ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายเห็นด้วย และถ้าเป็นน้ำพระทัยของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเรา ก็ให้เราทั้งหลายส่งคนไปหาพี่น้องของเรา ผู้ที่เหลืออยู่ในแผ่นดินอิสราเอลทั้งสิ้น ให้ไปยังปุโรหิตและคนเลวีด้วย ผู้ซึ่งอยู่ในหัวเมืองและทุ่งหญ้าของเขา เพื่อให้เขาทั้งหลายมาหาพวกเราพร้อมกัน
2David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if it is of Yahweh our God, let us send abroad everywhere to our brothers who are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have suburbs, that they may gather themselves to us;
3และให้เราทั้งหลายนำหีบแห่งพระเจ้าของเรามายังเราอีก เพราะเราทั้งหลายมิได้ไต่ถามถึงในสมัยของซาอูล"
3and let us bring again the ark of our God to us. For we didn’t seek it in the days of Saul.”
4ชุมนุมชนทั้งสิ้นนั้นก็พากันกล่าวว่าพวกเขาจะกระทำตาม เพราะสิ่งนั้นเป็นสิ่งที่ถูกต้องในสายตาของประชาชนทั้งสิ้น
4All the assembly said that they would do so; for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
5เพราะฉะนั้นดาวิดจึงประชุมอิสราเอลทั้งสิ้น ตั้งแต่ชิโหร์แห่งอียิปต์ ถึงทางเข้าเมืองฮามัท เพื่อจะเชิญหีบแห่งพระเจ้าจากคีริยาทเยอาริม
5So David assembled all Israel together, from the Shihor the brook of Egypt even to the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.
6ดาวิดกับอิสราเอลทั้งปวงขึ้นไปยังบาอาลาห์ คือคีริยาทเยอาริมซึ่งเป็นของยูดาห์ เพื่อจากที่นั่นจะได้เชิญหีบของพระเจ้าคือพระเยโฮวาห์ ผู้ประทับระหว่างพวกเครูบ อันเป็นหีบที่เรียกกันตามพระนาม
6David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath Jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God Yahweh that sits above the cherubim, that is called by the Name.
7และเขาทั้งหลายก็บรรทุกหีบของพระเจ้าไปในเกวียนเล่มใหม่จากเรือนของอาบีนาดับ และอุสซาห์กับอาหิโยเป็นคนขับเกวียน
7They carried the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.
8และดาวิดกับอิสราเอลทั้งปวงก็ร่าเริงกันอยู่ต่อพระพักตร์พระเจ้าด้วยเต็มกำลังของเขาทั้งหลาย ด้วยเพลง พิณเขาคู่ พิณใหญ่ รำมะนา ฉาบ และแตร
8David and all Israel played before God with all their might, even with songs, and with harps, and with stringed instruments, and with tambourines, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
9และเมื่อเขาทั้งหลายมาถึงลานนวดข้าวของคิโดน อุสซาห์ก็เหยียดมือออกกุมหีบไว้เพราะวัวสะดุด
9When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
10และพระพิโรธของพระเยโฮวาห์ได้พลุ่งขึ้นต่ออุสซาห์ และพระองค์ทรงประหารเขา เพราะเขาเหยียดมือออกยังหีบนั้น และเขาก็สิ้นชีวิตต่อพระพักตร์พระเจ้า
10The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Uzza, and he struck him, because he put forth his hand to the ark; and there he died before God.
11และดาวิดก็ไม่ทรงพอพระทัย เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงทลายออกมาเหนืออุสซาห์ จึงเรียกที่ตรงนั้นว่า เปเรศอุสซาห์ จนถึงทุกวันนี้
11David was displeased, because Yahweh had broken forth on Uzza; and he called that place Perez Uzza, to this day.
12และดาวิดทรงเกรงกลัวพระเจ้าในวันนั้น และพระองค์ตรัสว่า "เราจะนำหีบของพระเจ้าไปบ้านไปเมืองอย่างไรได้"
12David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?”
13ดาวิดจึงมิได้ทรงย้ายหีบไปไว้ในนครของดาวิด แต่ทรงนำหีบแวะไปไว้ที่บ้านโอเบดเอโดมคนกัท
13So David didn’t move the ark to him into the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
14และหีบของพระเจ้าได้ค้างอยู่กับครัวเรือนของโอเบดเอโดมที่เรือนของเขาสามเดือน และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงอำนวยพระพรแก่ครัวเรือนของโอเบดเอโดมกับทั้งสิ้นซึ่งเขามีอยู่
14The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months: and Yahweh blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he had.
