1ฮีรามกษัตริย์เมืองไทระได้ทรงส่งผู้สื่อสารมาเฝ้าดาวิด และทรงส่งไม้สนสีดาร์ ทั้งช่างก่อและช่างไม้เพื่อจะสร้างวังถวายพระองค์
1Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.
2และดาวิดทรงทราบว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสถาปนาพระองค์เป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล เพราะพระราชอาณาจักรของพระองค์ก็เป็นที่ยกย่องอย่างยิ่ง เพื่อเห็นแก่อิสราเอลประชาชนของพระองค์
2David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel’s sake.
3และดาวิดทรงรับมเหสีเพิ่มขึ้นในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และดาวิดทรงให้กำเนิดโอรสและธิดาอีก
3David took more wives at Jerusalem; and David became the father of more sons and daughters.
4ต่อไปนี้เป็นชื่อราชบุตรซึ่งพระองค์ทรงมีในเยรูซาเล็มคือ ชัมมุอา โชบับ นาธัน ซาโลมอน
4These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
5อิบฮาร์ เอลีชูวา เอลเปเลท
5and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,
6โนกาห์ เนเฟก ยาเฟีย
6and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
7เอลีชามา เบเอลยาดา เอลีเฟเลท
7and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8เมื่อคนฟีลิสเตียได้ยินว่าดาวิดทรงรับการเจิมเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอลทั้งปวงแล้ว คนฟีลิสเตียทั้งปวงก็ขึ้นไปแสวงหาดาวิด ดาวิดทรงได้ยินเรื่องนั้นก็เสด็จออกไปสู้รบกับเขาทั้งหลาย
8When the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went out against them.
9ฝ่ายคนฟีลิสเตียได้มาปล้นในหุบเขาเรฟาอิม
9Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.
10และดาวิดก็ทรงทูลถามพระเจ้าว่า "ควรที่ข้าพระองค์จะขึ้นไปต่อสู้ฟีลิสเตียหรือ พระองค์จะทรงมอบเขาไว้ในมือของข้าพระองค์หรือ" และพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสตอบพระองค์ว่า "ขึ้นไปเถอะ และเราจะมอบเขาไว้ในมือเจ้า"
10David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” Yahweh said to him, “Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand.”
11และพระองค์เสด็จไปยังบาอัลเปราซิม และดาวิดทรงชนะเขาทั้งหลายที่นั่น และดาวิดตรัสว่า "พระเจ้าทรงทะลวงข้าศึกของข้าพเจ้าเหมือนดังกระแสน้ำที่พุ่งใส่" เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจึงเรียกที่นั้นว่า บาอัลเปราซิม
11So they came up to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there; and David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like the breach of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.
12เขาทั้งหลายก็ทิ้งรูปเคารพของเขาเสียที่นั่น และดาวิดก็ทรงมีพระบัญชา และรูปเคารพเหล่านั้นก็ถูกเผาด้วยไฟเสียหมด
12They left their gods there; and David gave commandment, and they were burned with fire.
13และคนฟีลิสเตียยังมาปล้นในหุบเขานั้นอีก
13The Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley.
14และเมื่อดาวิดทูลถามพระเจ้าอีกครั้งหนึ่ง พระเจ้าตรัสตอบพระองค์ว่า "เจ้าอย่าขึ้นไปตามเขา จงอ้อมไปและโจมตีเขาที่ตรงข้ามกับหมู่ต้นหม่อน
14David inquired again of God; and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them. Turn away from them, and come on them over against the mulberry trees.
15และเมื่อเจ้าได้ยินเสียงกระบวนทัพอยู่ที่ยอดหมู่ต้นหม่อนแล้ว จงออกไปทำศึก เพราะว่าพระเจ้าได้เสด็จออกไปข้างหน้าเพื่อโจมตีกองทัพของคนฟีลิสเตีย"
15It shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”
16และดาวิดทรงกระทำตามที่พระเจ้าบัญชาแก่พระองค์ และเขาทั้งหลายโจมตีกองทัพคนฟีลิสเตียตั้งแต่เมืองกิเบโอนถึงเมืองเกเซอร์
16David did as God commanded him: and they struck the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.
17กิตติศัพท์ของดาวิดก็ลือไปสู่บรรดาประเทศทั้งหลาย และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงให้ประชาชาติทั้งปวงครั่นคร้ามดาวิด
17The fame of David went out into all lands; and Yahweh brought the fear of him on all nations.
