1เมื่อดาวิดทรงชราและหง่อมแล้ว พระองค์ทรงตั้งซาโลมอนโอรสของพระองค์ให้เป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล
1Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
2ดาวิดทรงให้ประชุมเจ้านายทั้งสิ้นของอิสราเอล และบรรดาปุโรหิตและคนเลวี
2He gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
3คนเลวีนั้นอายุตั้งแต่สามสิบปีขึ้นไปก็ให้นับไว้ และรวมได้สามหมื่นแปดพันคน
3The Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand.
4ดาวิดตรัสว่า "จากพวกนี้ สองหมื่นสี่พันคนจะต้องดูแลการงานในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ และหกพันคนเป็นเจ้าหน้าที่และผู้วินิจฉัย
4David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of Yahweh; six thousand were officers and judges;
5สี่พันคนเป็นนายประตู และอีกสี่พันคนจะถวายสรรเสริญแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ด้วยเครื่องดนตรีซึ่งเราได้สร้างไว้ให้ใช้สรรเสริญ"
5four thousand were doorkeepers; and four thousand praised Yahweh with the instruments which I made, for giving praise.”
6และดาวิดทรงจัดแบ่งเป็นกองๆตามบุตรชายของเลวี คือ เกอร์โชม โคฮาท และเมรารี
6David divided them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7จากคนเกอร์โชมคือลาดานและชิเมอี
7Of the Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei.
8บุตรชายของลาดานคือ เยฮีเอลผู้เป็นหัวหน้า และเศธาม และโยเอล สามคน
8The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the chief, and Zetham, and Joel, three.
9บุตรชายของชิเมอีคือ เชโลมิท ฮาซีเอล และฮาราน สามคน คนเหล่านี้เป็นประมุขของบรรพบุรุษลาดาน
9The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers’ households of Ladan.
10และบุตรชายของชิเมอีคือ ยาหาท ศินา เยอูช และเบรียาห์ ทั้งสี่คนนี้เป็นบุตรชายของชิเมอี
10The sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.
11และยาหาทเป็นหัวหน้า และศิซาห์เป็นที่สอง แต่เยอูชและเบรียาห์ไม่มีบุตรชายมาก เพราะฉะนั้นในการนับจึงรวมเข้าเป็นเรือนบรรพบุรุษเดียวกัน
11Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah didn’t have many sons; therefore they became a fathers’ house in one reckoning.
12บุตรชายของโคฮาทคือ อัมราม อิสฮาร์ เฮโบรน และอุสซีเอล สี่คน
12The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.
13บุตรชายของอัมรามคือ อาโรนและโมเสส เขาตั้งอาโรนไว้ต่างหากให้เป็นผู้ทำพิธีชำระสิ่งของที่บริสุทธิ์ที่สุด ทั้งเขาและบุตรชายของเขาสืบไปเป็นนิตย์ เพื่อเผาเครื่องหอมถวายต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์และปรนนิบัติพระองค์ และอวยพระพรในพระนามของพระองค์เป็นนิตย์
13The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons, forever, to burn incense before Yahweh, to minister to him, and to bless in his name, forever.

14But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.

15The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.
16บุตรชายของเกอร์โชมคือ เชบูเอลผู้เป็นหัวหน้า
16The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the chief.
17บุตรชายของเอลีเยเซอร์คือ เรหับยาห์ผู้เป็นหัวหน้า เอลีเยเซอร์ไม่มีบุตรชายอีก แต่บุตรชายของเรหับยาห์มีมากนัก
17The sons of Eliezer were: Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.
18บุตรชายของอิสฮาห์คือ เชโลมิทผู้เป็นหัวหน้า
18The sons of Izhar: Shelomith the chief.
19บุตรชายของเฮโบรนคือ เยรียาห์ผู้เป็นหัวหน้า อามาริยาห์ที่สอง ยาฮาซีเอลที่สาม และเยคาเมอัมที่สี่
19The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20บุตรชายของอุสซีเอลคือ มีคาห์ผู้เป็นหัวหน้า และอิสชีอาห์ที่สอง
20The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.
21บุตรชายของเมรารีคือ มาห์ลีและมูชี บุตรชายของมาห์ลีคือ เอเลอาซาร์และคีช
21The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.
22เอเลอาซาร์สิ้นชีวิตไม่มีบุตรชาย มีแต่บุตรสาว บุตรชายของคีชผู้เป็นญาติของเขาแต่งงานกับเขา
22Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only: and their brothers the sons of Kish took them as wives.
23บุตรชายของมูชีคือ มาห์ลี เอเดอร์ และเยรีโมท สามคน
23The sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.
24คนเหล่านี้เป็นคนเลวีตามเรือนบรรพบุรุษของเขา เป็นประมุขของบรรพบุรุษของเขา ตามที่เขาได้ขึ้นทะเบียนไว้ตามจำนวนชื่อรายบุคคล อายุตั้งแต่ยี่สิบปีขึ้นไป ผู้ซึ่งจะทำงานปรนนิบัติในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์
24These were the sons of Levi after their fathers’ houses, even the heads of the fathers’ houses of those who were counted individually, in the number of names by their polls, who did the work for the service of the house of Yahweh, from twenty years old and upward.
25เพราะดาวิดตรัสว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของอิสราเอลได้ประสาทการหยุดพักสงบแก่ประชาชนของพระองค์ เพื่อเขาทั้งหลายจะอาศัยอยู่ในเยรูซาเล็มเป็นนิตย์
25For David said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people; and he dwells in Jerusalem forever.
26และคนเลวีจึงไม่ต้องหาบหามพลับพลาหรือเครื่องใช้ใดๆเพื่องานปรนนิบัติอีกเลย"
26Also the Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service.”
27เพราะตามพระดำรัสสุดท้ายของดาวิด คนเลวีตั้งแต่อายุยี่สิบปีขึ้นไปถูกนับ
27For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered, from twenty years old and upward.
28แต่หน้าที่ของเขาจะต้องคอยช่วยบุตรชายของอาโรนในงานปรนนิบัติพระนิเวศแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ มีงานดูแลลานและห้องและงานชำระของทุกอย่างที่บริสุทธิ์ และงานใดๆซึ่งเป็นงานปรนนิบัติของพระนิเวศแห่งพระเจ้า
28For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Yahweh, in the courts, and in the rooms, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of God’s house;
29และช่วยเกี่ยวกับเรื่องขนมปังหน้าพระพักตร์ด้วย เรื่องยอดแป้งสำหรับธัญญบูชา ขนมไร้เชื้อแผ่นของปิ้งบูชา ของบูชาคลุกน้ำมัน และเครื่องตวง เครื่องวัดทุกขนาด
29for the show bread also, and for the fine flour for a meal offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all kinds of measure and size;
30และทุกๆเช้าเขาจะต้องยืนโมทนาและสรรเสริญพระเยโฮวาห์ และเวลาเย็นก็เช่นเดียวกัน
30and to stand every morning to thank and praise Yahweh, and likewise in the evening;
31ทั้งในเวลาเมื่อถวายบรรดาเครื่องเผาบูชาแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ในวันสะบาโต ในวันขึ้นหนึ่งค่ำ ในวันเทศกาลกำหนด ตามจำนวนที่กำหนดให้ถวายบูชาต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ทุกวันเรื่อยไป
31and to offer all burnt offerings to Yahweh, on the Sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before Yahweh;
32ดังนี้แหละเขาจะดูแลพลับพลาแห่งชุมนุมและดูแลที่บริสุทธิ์ และจะรับใช้บุตรชายของอาโรนพี่น้องของเขา เพื่องานปรนนิบัติแห่งพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์
32and that they should keep the duty of the Tent of Meeting, and the duty of the holy place, and the duty of the sons of Aaron their brothers, for the service of the house of Yahweh.
