¹ซึ่งได้ทรงเป็นอยู่แต่เดิมนั้น ซึ่งเราได้ยิน ซึ่งเราได้เห็นกับตา ซึ่งเราได้พินิจดู และจับต้องด้วยมือของเรานั้น เกี่ยวกับพระวาทะแห่งชีวิต

¹That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we saw, and our hands touched, concerning the Word of life

²(และชีวิตนั้นได้ปรากฏ และเราได้เห็นและเป็นพยาน และประกาศชีวิตนิรันดร์นั้นแก่ท่านทั้งหลาย ชีวิตนั้นได้ดำรงอยู่กับพระบิดา และได้ปรากฏแก่เราทั้งหลาย)

²(and the life was revealed, and we have seen, and testify, and declare to you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was revealed to us);

³ซึ่งเราได้เห็นและได้ยินนั้นเราก็ได้ประกาศแก่ท่านทั้งหลาย เพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะได้ร่วมสามัคคีธรรมกับเรา แท้จริงเราทั้งหลายก็ร่วมสามัคคีธรรมกับพระบิดา และกับพระเยซูคริสต์พระบุตรของพระองค์

³that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

⁴และเราเขียนข้อความเหล่านี้ถึงท่านทั้งหลาย เพื่อความยินดีของท่านจะได้เต็มเปี่ยม

⁴And we write these things to you, that our joy may be fulfilled.

⁵แล้วนี่เป็นข้อความที่เราได้ยินจากพระองค์ และประกาศแก่ท่านทั้งหลาย คือว่าพระเจ้าทรงเป็นความสว่าง และความมืดในพระองค์ไม่มีเลย

⁵This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

⁶ถ้าเราจะว่าเราร่วมสามัคคีธรรมกับพระองค์ และยังดำเนินอยู่ในความมืด เราก็พูดมุสา และไม่ได้ดำเนินชีวิตตามความจริง

⁶If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and don’t tell the truth.

⁷แต่ถ้าเราดำเนินอยู่ในความสว่าง เหมือนอย่างพระองค์ทรงสถิตในความสว่าง เราก็ร่วมสามัคคีธรรมซึ่งกันและกัน และพระโลหิตของพระเยซูคริสต์พระบุตรของพระองค์ ก็ชำระเราทั้งหลายให้ปราศจากบาปทั้งสิ้น

⁷But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

⁸ถ้าเราทั้งหลายจะว่าเราไม่มีบาป เราก็ลวงตนเอง และความจริงไม่ได้อยู่ในเราเลย

⁸If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

⁹ถ้าเราสารภาพบาปของเรา พระองค์ทรงสัตย์ซื่อและเที่ยงธรรม ก็จะทรงโปรดยกบาปของเรา และจะทรงชำระเราให้พ้นจากการอธรรมทั้งสิ้น

⁹If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

¹⁰ถ้าเรากล่าวว่าเราไม่ได้ทำบาป ก็เท่ากับเราทำให้พระองค์เป็นผู้ตรัสมุสา และพระดำรัสของพระองค์ก็มิได้อยู่ในเราทั้งหลายเลย

¹⁰If we say that we haven’t sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
