¹Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.

²และอยู่มาเมื่อเยโรโบอัมบุตรชายเนบัทได้ยินเรื่องนั้น เพราะท่านยังอยู่ในอียิปต์ (ที่ซึ่งท่านหนีไปจากพระพักตร์กษัตริย์ซาโลมอน เยโรโบอัมอาศัยอยู่ในอียิปต์)

²It happened, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was yet in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam lived in Egypt,

³เขาทั้งหลายก็ใช้คนไปเรียกท่าน เยโรโบอัมกับชุมนุมชนอิสราเอลทั้งหมดได้มาทูลเรโหโบอัมว่า

³and they sent and called him), that Jeroboam and all the assembly of Israel came, and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,

⁴"พระราชบิดาของพระองค์ได้กระทำให้แอกของข้าพระองค์หนักนัก เพราะฉะนั้นบัดนี้ขอทรงผ่อนการปรนนิบัติอย่างทุกข์หนักของพระราชบิดาของพระองค์ และแอกอันหนักของพระองค์เหนือข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายให้เบาลงเสีย และข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายจะปรนนิบัติพระองค์"

⁴“Your father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make you the grievous service of your father, and his heavy yoke which he put on us, lighter, and we will serve you.”

⁵พระองค์ตรัสกับเขาว่า "จงกลับไปเสียสักสามวัน แล้วจึงมาหาเราอีก" ประชาชนจึงกลับไป

⁵He said to them, “Depart for three days, then come back to me.” The people departed.

⁶แล้วกษัตริย์เรโหโบอัมก็ทรงปรึกษากับบรรดาผู้เฒ่า ผู้อยู่งานประจำซาโลมอนราชบิดาของพระองค์ขณะเมื่อพระองค์ยังทรงพระชนม์อยู่ว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายจะแนะนำเราให้ตอบประชาชนนี้อย่างไร"

⁶King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, “What counsel do you give me to return answer to this people?”

⁷เขาทั้งหลายทูลพระองค์ว่า "ถ้าพระองค์จะทรงเป็นผู้รับใช้ประชาชนนี้ในวันนี้และรับใช้พวกเขา และตรัสตอบคำดีแก่พวกเขา เขาทั้งหลายก็จะเป็นผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์เป็นนิตย์"

⁷They spoke to him, saying, “If you will be a servant to this people this day, and will serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.”

⁸แต่พระองค์ทรงทอดทิ้งคำปรึกษาซึ่งผู้เฒ่าถวายนั้นเสีย และไปปรึกษากับคนหนุ่มซึ่งเติบโตขึ้นมาพร้อมกับพระองค์ และอยู่งานประจำพระองค์

⁸But he forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.

⁹และพระองค์ตรัสกับเขาทั้งหลายว่า "ท่านจะแนะนำเราอย่างไร เพื่อพวกเราจะตอบประชาชนนี้ ผู้ที่ทูลเราว่า `ขอทรงผ่อนแอกซึ่งพระราชบิดาของพระองค์วางอยู่เหนือข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายให้เบาลง'"

⁹He said to them, “What counsel do you give, that we may return answer to this people, who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Make the yoke that your father put on us lighter?’”

¹⁰และคนหนุ่มเหล่านั้นผู้ได้เติบโตมาพร้อมกับพระองค์ทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์จงตรัสดังนี้แก่ประชาชนนี้ ผู้ทูลพระองค์ว่า `พระราชบิดาของพระองค์ได้กระทำให้แอกของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายหนัก แต่ขอพระองค์ทรงผ่อนแก่ข้าพระองค์ให้เบาลง' นั้น พระองค์จงตรัสแก่เขาทั้งหลายอย่างนี้ว่า `นิ้วก้อยของเราก็หนากว่าเอวแห่งราชบิดาของเรา

¹⁰The young men who had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, “Thus you shall tell this people who spoke to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter to us;’ you shall say to them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist.

¹¹ที่พระราชบิดาของเราวางแอกหนักบนท่านทั้งหลายก็ดีแล้ว เราจะเพิ่มให้แก่แอกของท่านทั้งหลายอีก พระราชบิดาของเราตีสอนท่านทั้งหลายด้วยไม้เรียว แต่เราจะตีสอนท่านทั้งหลายด้วยแส้แมลงป่อง'"

¹¹Now whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.’”

¹²เยโรโบอัมกับประชาชนทั้งปวงจึงเข้ามาเฝ้าเรโหโบอัมในวันที่สาม ดังที่กษัตริย์รับสั่งว่า "จงมาหาเราอีกในวันที่สาม"

¹²So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king asked, saying, “Come to me again the third day.”

¹³และกษัตริย์ตรัสตอบประชาชนอย่างดุดัน ทรงทอดทิ้งคำปรึกษาซึ่งผู้เฒ่าได้ถวายนั้นเสีย

¹³The king answered the people roughly, and forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him,

¹⁴และตรัสกับเขาทั้งหลายตามคำปรึกษาของพวกคนหนุ่มว่า "พระราชบิดาของเราทำแอกของท่านทั้งหลายให้หนัก แต่เราจะเพิ่มให้แก่แอกของท่านทั้งหลายอีก พระราชบิดาของเราตีสอนท่านทั้งหลายด้วยไม้เรียว แต่เราจะตีสอนท่านทั้งหลายด้วยแส้แมลงป่อง"

¹⁴and spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.”

¹⁵กษัตริย์จึงมิได้ฟังเสียงประชาชนเพราะเหตุการณ์นั้นเป็นมาแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ เพื่อพระองค์จะทรงกระทำให้พระวจนะของพระองค์ได้สำเร็จ ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสโดยอาหิยาห์ชาวชีโลห์แก่เยโรโบอัมบุตรชายเนบัท

¹⁵So the king didn’t listen to the people; for it was a thing brought about of Yahweh, that he might establish his word, which Yahweh spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹⁶และเมื่ออิสราเอลทั้งปวงเห็นว่ากษัตริย์มิได้ทรงฟังเขาทั้งหลาย ประชาชนก็ทูลตอบกษัตริย์ว่า "ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายมีส่วนอะไรในดาวิด ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายไม่มีส่วนมรดกในบุตรชายของเจสซี โอ อิสราเอลเอ๋ย กลับไปเต็นท์ของตนเถิด ข้าแต่ดาวิด จงดูแลราชวงศ์ของพระองค์เองเถิด" อิสราเอลจึงจากไปยังเต็นท์ของเขาทั้งหลาย

¹⁶When all Israel saw that the king didn’t listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, “What portion have we in David? Neither do we have an inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your tents, Israel! Now see to your own house, David.” So Israel departed to their tents.

¹⁷แต่เรโหโบอัมทรงปกครองเหนือประชาชนอิสราเอล ผู้อาศัยอยู่ในหัวเมืองของยูดาห์

¹⁷But as for the children of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

¹⁸แล้วกษัตริย์เรโหโบอัมทรงใช้อาโดรัมนายงานเหนือแรงงานเกณฑ์ไป และอิสราเอลทั้งปวงก็เอาหินขว้างท่านถึงตาย แล้วกษัตริย์เรโหโบอัมก็ทรงรีบขึ้นรถรบของพระองค์ ทรงหนีไปยังกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม

¹⁸Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the men subject to forced labor; and all Israel stoned him to death with stones. King Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

¹⁹อิสราเอลกบฏต่อราชวงศ์ของดาวิดจนทุกวันนี้

¹⁹So Israel rebelled against the house of David to this day.

²⁰และอยู่มาเมื่ออิสราเอลทั้งปวงได้ยินว่าเยโรโบอัมได้กลับมาแล้ว เขาก็ใช้ให้ไปเชิญท่านมายังที่ประชุม แล้วก็ตั้งท่านให้เป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอลทั้งปวง ไม่มีผู้ใดติดตามราชวงศ์ของดาวิด เว้นแต่ตระกูลยูดาห์เท่านั้น

²⁰It happened, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was returned, that they sent and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none who followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.

²¹เมื่อเรโหโบอัมมายังกรุงเยรูซาเล็มแล้ว พระองค์ได้เรียกประชุมวงศ์วานยูดาห์ทั้งหมด และตระกูลเบนยามิน เป็นนักรบที่คัดเลือกแล้วหนึ่งแสนแปดหมื่นคน เพื่อจะสู้รบกับวงศ์วานอิสราเอล เพื่อจะเอาราชอาณาจักรคืนมาให้แก่เรโหโบอัมโอรสของซาโลมอน

²¹When Rehoboam had come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, and the tribe of Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.

²²แต่พระวจนะของพระเจ้ามายังเชไมอาห์คนของพระเจ้าว่า

²²But the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

²³"จงไปทูลเรโหโบอัมโอรสของซาโลมอนกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ และบอกแก่วงศ์วานทั้งสิ้นของยูดาห์ และของเบนยามิน และแก่ประชาชนที่เหลืออยู่ว่า

²³“Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, saying,

²⁴`พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า เจ้าอย่าขึ้นไปสู้รบกับประชาชนอิสราเอลญาติพี่น้องของเจ้าเลย จงกลับไปยังบ้านของตนทุกคนเถิด เพราะสิ่งนี้เป็นมาจากเรา'" เหตุฉะนี้เขาจึงจะเชื่อฟังพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ และกลับไปบ้านเสียตามพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์

²⁴‘Thus says Yahweh, “You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers, the children of Israel. Everyone return to his house; for this thing is of me.”’” So they listened to the word of Yahweh, and returned and went their way, according to the word of Yahweh.

²⁵แล้วเยโรโบอัมก็สร้างเมืองเชเคมในถิ่นเทือกเขาเอฟราอิม และอาศัยอยู่ที่นั่น และพระองค์ก็ออกไปจากที่นั่น ไปสร้างเมืองเปนูเอล

²⁵Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and lived in it; and he went out from there, and built Penuel.

²⁶และเยโรโบอัมรำพึงในใจว่า "คราวนี้ราชอาณาจักรจะหันกลับไปยังราชวงศ์ของดาวิด

²⁶Jeroboam said in his heart, “Now the kingdom will return to the house of David.

²⁷ถ้าชนชาติเหล่านี้ขึ้นไปถวายเครื่องสัตวบูชาในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ที่กรุงเยรูซาเล็ม แล้วจิตใจของชนชาติเหล่านี้จะหันกลับไปยังเจ้านายของเขาทั้งหลาย คือหันไปยังเรโหโบอัมกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ และเขาทั้งหลายจะฆ่าเราเสีย และกลับไปยังเรโหโบอัมกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์"

²⁷If this people goes up to offer sacrifices in the house of Yahweh at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn again to their lord, even to Rehoboam king of Judah; and they will kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.”

²⁸ดังนั้นกษัตริย์จึงทรงปรึกษา และได้ทรงสร้างลูกวัวสองตัวด้วยทองคำ และพระองค์ตรัสแก่ประชาชนว่า "ที่ท่านทั้งหลายขึ้นไปยังกรุงเยรูซาเล็มนานพออยู่แล้ว โอ อิสราเอลเอ๋ย จงดูพระของท่าน ดูเถิด พระองค์ผู้ทรงนำท่านทั้งหลายออกจากประเทศอียิปต์"

²⁸Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold; and he said to them, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Look and see your gods, Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”

²⁹และพระองค์ก็ประดิษฐานไว้ที่เบธเอลรูปหนึ่ง และอีกรูปหนึ่งทรงประดิษฐานไว้ในเมืองดาน

²⁹He set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.

³⁰และสิ่งนี้กลายเป็นความบาป เพราะว่าประชาชนได้ไปนมัสการรูปหนึ่ง คือที่เมืองดาน

³⁰This thing became a sin; for the people went to worship before the one, even to Dan.

³¹แล้วพระองค์ได้ทรงสร้างนิเวศที่ปูชนียสถานสูง ทรงกำหนดตั้งปุโรหิตจากหมู่ประชาชนทั้งปวง ผู้มิได้เป็นคนเลวี

³¹He made houses of high places, and made priests from among all the people, who were not of the sons of Levi.

³²และเยโรโบอัมทรงกำหนดเทศกาลเลี้ยงในวันที่สิบห้าของเดือนที่แปดเหมือนกับการเลี้ยงที่อยู่ในยูดาห์ และพระองค์ทรงถวายเครื่องสัตวบูชาบนแท่นบูชา พระองค์ทรงกระทำในเบธเอลดังนี้แหละ คือถวายเครื่องสัตวบูชาแก่รูปลูกวัวที่พระองค์ได้ทรงสร้างไว้นั้น และพระองค์ทรงสถาปนาปุโรหิตในเบธเอลประจำที่ปูชนียสถานสูงซึ่งพระองค์ทรงสร้างไว้

³²Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like the feast that is in Judah, and he went up to the altar; he did so in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places that he had made.

³³พระองค์ทรงขึ้นไปยังแท่นบูชาซึ่งพระองค์ทรงสร้างไว้ที่เบธเอลในวันที่สิบห้าเดือนที่แปด ในเดือนซึ่งพระองค์ทรงดำริเอง และพระองค์ทรงกำหนดเทศกาลเลี้ยงสำหรับคนอิสราเอล และทรงถวายเครื่องบูชาบนแท่นและเผาเครื่องหอม

³³He went up to the altar which he had made in Bethel on the fifteenth day in the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart: and he ordained a feast for the children of Israel, and went up to the altar, to burn incense.
