¹แต่กษัตริย์ซาโลมอนทรงรักหญิงต่างด้าวหลายคน นอกจากธิดาของฟาโรห์ มีหญิงคนโมอับ คนอัมโมน คนเอโดม คนไซดอน และคนฮิตไทต์

¹Now king Solomon loved many foreign women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites;

²เป็นของประชาชาติซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับคนอิสราเอลว่า "เจ้าทั้งหลายอย่าเข้าไปแต่งงานกับเขาทั้งหลาย หรืออย่าเข้ามาแต่งงานกับเจ้า เพราะเขาจะหันจิตใจของเจ้าไปตามพระของเขาเป็นแน่" ซาโลมอนทรงติดพันกับคนเหล่านี้ด้วยความรัก

²of the nations concerning which Yahweh said to the children of Israel, “You shall not go among them, neither shall they come among you; for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.” Solomon joined to these in love.

³พระองค์ทรงมีมเหสีเจ็ดร้อยคือเจ้าหญิง และนางห้ามสามร้อย และบรรดามเหสีของพระองค์ก็ทรงหันพระทัยของพระองค์ไปเสีย

³He had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart.

⁴เพราะอยู่มาเมื่อซาโลมอนทรงพระชราแล้ว มเหสีของพระองค์ได้หันพระทัยของพระองค์ให้ไปตามพระอื่น และพระทัยของพระองค์หาได้บริสุทธิ์ต่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพระองค์ ดังพระทัยของดาวิดราชบิดาของพระองค์ไม่

⁴For it happened, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with Yahweh his God, as was the heart of David his father.

⁵เพราะซาโลมอนทรงดำเนินตามพระอัชโทเรท พระแม่เจ้าของคนไซดอน และตามพระมิลโคมสิ่งที่น่าสะอิดสะเอียนของคนอัมโมน

⁵For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

⁶ซาโลมอนจึงทรงกระทำชั่วในสายพระเนตรของพระเยโฮวาห์ และมิได้ทรงติดตามพระเยโฮวาห์อย่างเต็มกำลัง ดังดาวิดราชบิดาของพระองค์ได้ทรงกระทำมาแล้วนั้น

⁶Solomon did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and didn’t go fully after Yahweh, as did David his father.

⁷แล้วซาโลมอนได้ทรงสร้างปูชนียสถานสูงสำหรับพระเคโมช สิ่งที่น่าสะอิดสะเอียนของโมอับ ในภูเขาที่อยู่หน้ากรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และสำหรับพระโมเลค สิ่งที่น่าสะอิดสะเอียนของคนอัมโมน

⁷Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon.

⁸และพระองค์จึงทรงกระทำดังนั้นเพื่อมเหสีต่างด้าวของพระองค์ทั้งสิ้น ผู้ที่ได้เผาเครื่องหอมและถวายเครื่องสัตวบูชาแก่บรรดาพระของเขา

⁸So he did for all his foreign wives, who burnt incense and sacrificed to their gods.

⁹พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกริ้วต่อซาโลมอน เพราะพระทัยของท่านได้หันไปเสียจากพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ผู้ได้ทรงปรากฏแก่ท่านสองครั้งแล้ว

⁹Yahweh was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned away from Yahweh, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,

¹⁰และได้ทรงบัญชาท่านเกี่ยวกับเรื่องนี้ ว่าท่านไม่ควรไปติดตามพระอื่น แต่ท่านมิได้รักษาพระบัญชาของพระเยโฮวาห์

¹⁰and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he didn’t keep that which Yahweh commanded.

¹¹เพราะฉะนั้นพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับซาโลมอนว่า "เนื่องด้วยเจ้าได้กระทำเช่นนี้ และเจ้ามิได้รักษาพันธสัญญาของเรา และกฎเกณฑ์ของเรา ซึ่งเราได้บัญชาเจ้าไว้ เราจะฉีกอาณาจักรเสียจากเจ้าเป็นแน่และให้แก่ข้าราชการของเจ้า

¹¹Therefore Yahweh said to Solomon, “Because this is done by you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.

¹²กระนั้นก็ดีเพราะเห็นแก่ดาวิดบิดาของเจ้าเราจะไม่กระทำในวันเวลาของเจ้า แต่เราจะฉีกออกจากมือบุตรชายของเจ้า

¹²Notwithstanding I will not do it in your days, for David your father’s sake; but I will tear it out of the hand of your son.

¹³อย่างไรก็ดี เราจะไม่ฉีกเสียหมดอาณาจักร แต่เราจะให้ตระกูลหนึ่งแก่บุตรชายของเจ้า เพื่อเห็นแก่ดาวิดผู้รับใช้ของเรา และเพื่อเห็นแก่เยรูซาเล็มซึ่งเราได้เลือกไว้"

¹³However I will not tear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to your son, for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.”

¹⁴พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงให้ปฏิปักษ์เกิดขึ้นต่อสู้ซาโลมอน คือฮาดัดคนเอโดม ท่านเป็นเชื้อสายราชวงศ์แห่งเอโดม

¹⁴Yahweh raised up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king’s seed in Edom.

¹⁵เพราะอยู่มาเมื่อดาวิดอยู่ในเอโดม และโยอาบผู้บัญชาการกองทัพได้ขึ้นไปฝังผู้ที่ถูกฆ่า หลังจากเขาได้ฆ่าผู้ชายทุกคนในเอโดมเสีย

¹⁵For it happened, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the army was gone up to bury the slain, and had struck every male in Edom

¹⁶(เพราะโยอาบและคนอิสราเอลทั้งสิ้นยังอยู่ที่นั่นหกเดือน จนกว่าเขาได้ฆ่าผู้ชายทุกคนในเอโดม)

¹⁶(for Joab and all Israel remained there six months, until he had cut off every male in Edom);

¹⁷ฮาดัดได้หนีไปอียิปต์ พร้อมกับคนเอโดมบางคนผู้เป็นข้าราชการของบิดาของท่าน ครั้งนั้นฮาดัดยังเป็นเด็กเล็กๆอยู่

¹⁷that Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father’s servants with him, to go into Egypt, Hadad being yet a little child.

¹⁸เขาทั้งหลายยกออกจากมีเดียนมายังปาราน และพาคนจากปารานมากับเขาและมาถึงอียิปต์ เฝ้าฟาโรห์กษัตริย์แห่งอียิปต์ ผู้ประทานเรือนหลังหนึ่งแก่เขา และกำหนดให้ได้รับปันเสบียงอาหาร และประทานที่ดินให้เขาด้วย

¹⁸They arose out of Midian, and came to Paran; and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, who gave him a house, and appointed him food, and gave him land.

¹⁹และฮาดัดเป็นที่โปรดปรานยิ่งในสายตาของฟาโรห์ ฟาโรห์จึงประทานน้องสาวของมเหสีของท่านเอง คือขนิษฐาของพระราชินีทาเปเนสให้เป็นภรรยาเขา

¹⁹Hadad found great favor in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him as wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

²⁰และขนิษฐาของทาเปเนสก็ประสูติเกนูบัทให้ท่านเป็นบุตรชาย ผู้ซึ่งทาเปเนสให้หย่านมในวังของฟาโรห์ และเกนูบัทอยู่ในวังของฟาโรห์ในหมู่ราชโอรสของฟาโรห์

²⁰The sister of Tahpenes bore him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh’s house; and Genubath was in Pharaoh’s house among the sons of Pharaoh.

²¹แต่เมื่อฮาดัดอยู่ในอียิปต์ได้ยินว่าดาวิดได้ล่วงลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์แล้ว และโยอาบผู้บัญชาการกองทัพก็สิ้นชีวิตแล้ว ฮาดัดจึงทูลฟาโรห์ว่า "ขอข้าพระองค์ทูลลาเพื่อข้าพระองค์จะกลับไปยังประเทศของข้าพระองค์เอง"

²¹When Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the army was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, “Let me depart, that I may go to my own country.”

²²แต่ฟาโรห์ตรัสกับท่านว่า "ท่านอยู่กับเราขาดสิ่งใดหรือ ดูเถิด ท่านจึงเสาะหาที่จะกลับไปยังประเทศของท่าน" และท่านก็ทูลพระองค์ว่า "ไม่ขาดสิ่งใดพระเจ้าข้า แต่ขอให้ข้าพระองค์ไปเถิด"

²²Then Pharaoh said to him, “But what have you lacked with me, that behold, you seek to go to your own country?” He answered, “Nothing, however only let me depart.”

²³พระเจ้าได้ทรงให้ปฏิปักษ์เกิดขึ้นต่อสู้ท่านอีกคนหนึ่ง คือเรโซนบุตรชายของเอลียาดา ผู้ที่หนีไปจากฮาดัดเอเซอร์กษัตริย์แห่งโศบาห์เจ้านายของตน

²³God raised up an adversary to him, Rezon the son of Eliada, who had fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah.

²⁴เมื่อดาวิดเข่นฆ่าชาวโศบาห์เขาก็รวบรวมผู้คนให้อยู่กับเขา กลายเป็นหัวหน้าของกองปล้น และเขาทั้งหลายก็ไปยังเมืองดามัสกัสอาศัยอยู่ที่นั่น และครอบครองเมืองดามัสกัส

²⁴He gathered men to him, and became captain over a troop, when David killed them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and lived therein, and reigned in Damascus.

²⁵ท่านเป็นปฏิปักษ์ของอิสราเอลตลอดวันเวลาของซาโลมอน นอกจากเหตุร้ายที่ฮาดัดได้กระทำ และท่านเกลียดชังอิสราเอล และได้ปกครองอยู่เหนือซีเรีย

²⁵He was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, besides the mischief of Hadad: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.

²⁶เยโรโบอัมบุตรชายเนบัท คนเอฟราอิม ชาวเมืองเศเรดาห์ข้าราชการคนหนึ่งของซาโลมอน มารดาชื่อเศรุวาห์เป็นหญิงม่าย ได้ยกมือขึ้นต่อสู้กษัตริย์ด้วย

²⁶Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephraimite of Zeredah, a servant of Solomon, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow, he also lifted up his hand against the king.

²⁷ต่อไปนี้เป็นสาเหตุที่ท่านยกมือขึ้นต่อสู้กษัตริย์ คือซาโลมอนทรงสร้างป้อมมิลโล และอุดช่องกำแพงนครของดาวิดราชบิดาของพระองค์

²⁷This was the reason why he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breach of the city of David his father.

²⁸เยโรโบอัมเป็นทแกล้วทหาร เมื่อซาโลมอนทรงเห็นว่าชายหนุ่มคนนั้นเป็นคนขยัน พระองค์จึงให้ท่านดูแลเหนือแรงงานเกณฑ์ทั้งสิ้นของวงศ์วานโยเซฟ

²⁸The man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor; and Solomon saw the young man that he was industrious, and he put him in charge of all the labor of the house of Joseph.

²⁹และอยู่มาในคราวนั้นเมื่อเยโรโบอัมออกไปจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม อาหิยาห์ผู้พยากรณ์ชาวชีโลห์ได้พบท่านที่กลางทาง อาหิยาห์สวมเสื้อใหม่ตัวหนึ่ง และคนทั้งสองก็อยู่ลำพังในทุ่งนา

²⁹It happened at that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; now Ahijah had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field.

³⁰แล้วอาหิยาห์ก็จับเสื้อใหม่ที่สวมอยู่ฉีกออกเป็นสิบสองชิ้น

³⁰Ahijah laid hold of the new garment that was on him, and tore it in twelve pieces.

³¹และท่านพูดกับเยโรโบอัมว่า "ท่านจงเอาไปสิบชิ้น เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลตรัสดังนี้ว่า `ดูเถิด เราจะฉีกอาณาจักรจากมือของซาโลมอน และจะให้เจ้าสิบตระกูล

³¹He said to Jeroboam, “Take ten pieces; for thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘Behold, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to you

³²(แต่เขาจะมีตระกูลหนึ่งเพื่อเห็นแก่ดาวิดผู้รับใช้ของเรา และเพื่อเห็นแก่เยรูซาเล็มเมืองซึ่งเราเลือกจากท่ามกลางตระกูลทั้งปวงของอิสราเอล)

³²(but he shall have one tribe, for my servant David’s sake and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel);

³³เพราะเขาได้ทอดทิ้งเรา และได้นมัสการพระอัชโทเรท พระนางเจ้าของชาวไซดอน เคโมชพระของโมอับ และมิลโคมพระของคนอัมโมน และมิได้ดำเนินในทางของเรา เพื่อจะกระทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องในสายตาของเรา และรักษากฎเกณฑ์ของเรา และคำตัดสินของเรา อย่างกับดาวิดบิดาของเขาได้กระทำนั้น

³³because that they have forsaken me, and have worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon. They have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes, and to keep my statutes and my ordinances, as David his father did.

³⁴ถึงกระนั้นก็ดี เราจะไม่เอาอาณาจักรทั้งหมดออกจากมือของเขา แต่เราจะกระทำให้เขาเป็นผู้ครอบครองอยู่ตลอดวันเวลาแห่งชีวิตของเขา เพราะเห็นแก่ดาวิดผู้รับใช้ของเราผู้ซึ่งเราได้เลือกไว้ เพราะเขาได้รักษาบัญญัติของเราและกฎเกณฑ์ของเรา

³⁴“‘However I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand; but I will make him prince all the days of his life, for David my servant’s sake whom I chose, who kept my commandments and my statutes;

³⁵แต่เราจะเอาอาณาจักรออกจากมือบุตรชายของเขา และจะมอบให้เจ้าสิบตระกูล

³⁵but I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand, and will give it to you, even ten tribes.

³⁶เรายังจะให้ตระกูลหนึ่งแก่บุตรชายของเขา เพื่อดาวิดผู้รับใช้ของเราจะมีประทีปดวงหนึ่งต่อหน้าเราในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มเสมอ เป็นเมืองซึ่งเราได้เลือกเพื่อประดิษฐานนามของเราไว้ที่นั่น

³⁶To his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a lamp always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

³⁷เราจะเอาตัวเจ้า และเจ้าจะปกครองให้กว้างขวางตามชอบใจของเจ้า และเจ้าจะเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล

³⁷I will take you, and you shall reign according to all that your soul desires, and shall be king over Israel.

³⁸และจะเป็นดังนี้ว่าถ้าเจ้าเชื่อฟังทุกสิ่งที่เราบัญชาแก่เจ้า และจะดำเนินในทางทั้งหลายของเรา และกระทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องในสายตาของเรา โดยรักษากฎเกณฑ์ของเรา และบัญญัติของเราดังดาวิดผู้รับใช้ของเราได้กระทำ เราจะอยู่กับเจ้า และจะสร้างเจ้าให้เป็นราชวงศ์ที่มั่นคง ดังที่เราได้สร้างเพื่อดาวิดมาแล้ว และเราจะให้อิสราเอลแก่เจ้า

³⁸It shall be, if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do that which is right in my eyes, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with you, and will build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you.

³⁹ด้วยเหตุนี้เราจะให้ความทุกข์ใจแก่เชื้อสายของดาวิด แต่ไม่เป็นนิตย์'"

³⁹I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not forever.’”

⁴⁰ฉะนั้นซาโลมอนจึงทรงหาช่องจะประหารเยโรโบอัมเสีย แต่เยโรโบอัมได้ลุกขึ้นหนีเข้าไปในอียิปต์ ไปยังชิชักกษัตริย์อียิปต์ และอยู่ในอียิปต์จนถึงซาโลมอนสิ้นพระชนม์

⁴⁰Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam; but Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

⁴¹ส่วนพระราชกิจนอกนั้นของซาโลมอน และบรรดาสิ่งซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำ และพระสติปัญญาของพระองค์มิได้บันทึกไว้ในหนังสือพระราชกิจของซาโลมอนหรือ

⁴¹Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, aren’t they written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

⁴²และเวลาที่ซาโลมอนทรงครอบครองในเยรูซาเล็มเหนืออิสราเอลทั้งสิ้นนั้น เป็นสี่สิบปี

⁴²The time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

⁴³และซาโลมอนก็ล่วงหลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์ และเขาฝังพระศพพระองค์ไว้ในนครของดาวิดราชบิดาของพระองค์ และเรโหโบอัมราชโอรสของพระองค์ก็ขึ้นครองแทน

⁴³Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.
