¹ฝ่ายฮีรามกษัตริย์เมืองไทระได้ส่งข้าราชการของท่านมาเฝ้าซาโลมอน เมื่อท่านได้ยินว่าเขาได้เจิมตั้งพระองค์ไว้เป็นกษัตริย์แทนราชบิดาของพระองค์ เพราะฮีรามรักดาวิดอยู่เสมอ

¹Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the place of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.

²และซาโลมอนได้ส่งพระดำรัสไปยังฮีรามว่า

²Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,

³"ท่านคงทราบอยู่แล้วว่าดาวิดราชบิดาของข้าพเจ้าสร้างพระนิเวศสำหรับพระนามของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพระองค์ไม่ได้ เพราะการสงครามซึ่งอยู่ล้อมรอบพระองค์ทุกด้าน จนกว่าพระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงปราบเขาเสียให้อยู่ใต้พระบาทของพระองค์

³“You know how that David my father could not build a house for the name of Yahweh his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until Yahweh put them under the soles of his feet.

⁴แต่บัดนี้พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของข้าพเจ้าทรงประทานให้ข้าพเจ้าได้หยุดพักรอบด้าน ปฏิปักษ์หรือเหตุร้ายก็ไม่มี

⁴But now Yahweh my God has given me rest on every side. There is neither adversary, nor evil occurrence.

⁵ดูเถิด ข้าพเจ้าจึงประสงค์จะสร้างพระนิเวศสำหรับพระนามของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของข้าพเจ้า ดังที่พระเยโฮวาห์ได้ตรัสไว้กับดาวิดราชบิดาของข้าพเจ้าว่า `บุตรชายของเจ้า ผู้ซึ่งเราจะตั้งไว้บนบัลลังก์แทนเจ้า จะสร้างพระนิเวศสำหรับนามของเรา'

⁵Behold, I purpose to build a house for the name of Yahweh my God, as Yahweh spoke to David my father, saying, ‘Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place, he shall build the house for my name.’

⁶เพราะฉะนั้นบัดนี้ขอท่านสั่งให้ตัดไม้สนสีดาร์แห่งเลบานอนเพื่อข้าพเจ้า และข้าราชการของข้าพเจ้าจะสมทบกับพวกข้าราชการของท่าน ข้าพเจ้าจะมอบเงินค่าจ้างข้าราชการของท่านแก่ท่านตามที่ท่านตั้งไว้ เพราะท่านคงทราบแล้วว่า ท่ามกลางเรานี้ไม่มีผู้ใดรู้จักตัดไม้เหมือนชาวซีโดน"

⁶Now therefore command that they cut me cedar trees out of Lebanon. My servants shall be with your servants; and I will give you wages for your servants according to all that you shall say. For you know that there is not among us any who knows how to cut timber like the Sidonians.”

⁷และอยู่มาเมื่อฮีรามได้ยินถ้อยคำของซาโลมอน ท่านก็ชื่นชมยินดียิ่งนักและว่า "สาธุการแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ในวันนี้ ผู้ทรงประทานบุตรชายที่ฉลาดองค์หนึ่งแก่ดาวิด ให้อยู่เหนือชนชาติใหญ่นี้"

⁷It happened, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, “Blessed is Yahweh this day, who has given to David a wise son over this great people.”

⁸และฮีรามก็ใช้คนให้มายังซาโลมอนทูลว่า "ข้าพเจ้าได้พิจารณาสิ่งต่างๆซึ่งท่านส่งไปยังข้าพเจ้าแล้ว ข้าพเจ้าพร้อมที่จะกระทำสิ่งสารพัดตามที่ท่านปรารถนาในเรื่องไม้สนสีดาร์ และไม้สนสามใบ

⁸Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, “I have heard the message which you have sent to me. I will do all your desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.

⁹ข้าราชการของข้าพเจ้าจะนำลงมาจากเลบานอนถึงทะเล และข้าพเจ้าจะผูกแพล่องมาตามทะเลถึงที่ที่ท่านจะกำหนดให้ และข้าพเจ้าจะให้แก้แพที่นั่น ขอท่านมารับเอา และขอท่านส่งเสบียงอาหารแก่สำนักวังของข้าพเจ้าก็แล้วกัน เป็นที่พอใจข้าพเจ้าแล้ว"

⁹My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon to the sea. I will make them into rafts to go by sea to the place that you shall appoint me, and will cause them to be broken up there, and you shall receive them. You shall accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.”

¹⁰ฮีรามจึงได้จัดส่งไม้สนสีดาร์และไม้สนสามใบให้แก่ซาโลมอนตามที่พระองค์มีพระประสงค์ทุกประการ

¹⁰So Hiram gave Solomon timber of cedar and timber of fir according to all his desire.

¹¹ฝ่ายซาโลมอนทรงประทานข้าวสาลีให้เป็นอาหารแก่สำนักวังของฮีรามสองหมื่นโคระและน้ำมันบริสุทธิ์ยี่สิบโคระ ซาโลมอนทรงประทานแก่ฮีรามเป็นปีๆไปอย่างนี้แหละ

¹¹Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil. Solomon gave this to Hiram year by year.

¹²และพระเยโฮวาห์พระราชทานสติปัญญาแก่ซาโลมอน ดังที่พระองค์ทรงสัญญาไว้ และมีสันติภาพระหว่างฮีรามและซาโลมอน และทั้งสองก็ทรงกระทำสนธิสัญญากัน

¹²Yahweh gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him; and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a treaty together.

¹³กษัตริย์ซาโลมอนทรงเกณฑ์แรงงานจากชนอิสราเอลทั้งปวง คนที่ถูกเกณฑ์แรงนับได้สามหมื่นคน

¹³King Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.

¹⁴และพระองค์ทรงใช้เขาไปยังเลบานอน เวรละหนึ่งหมื่นคนต่อเดือน เขาจะอยู่ที่เลบานอนเดือนหนึ่ง และอยู่บ้านสองเดือน และอาโดนีรัมเป็นผู้บังคับบัญชาพวกถูกเกณฑ์แรง

¹⁴He sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses; a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home; and Adoniram was over the men subject to forced labor.

¹⁵ซาโลมอนมีคนขนของหนักเจ็ดหมื่นคน และคนสกัดหินในถิ่นเทือกเขาแปดหมื่นคน

¹⁵Solomon had seventy thousand who bore burdens, and eighty thousand who were stone cutters in the mountains;

¹⁶นอกจากข้าราชการผู้ใหญ่ของซาโลมอนซึ่งเป็นผู้ดูแลการงานนี้ ก็มีอีกสามพันสามร้อยคนซึ่งเป็นผู้ปกครองดูแลประชาชนผู้ดำเนินงาน

¹⁶besides Solomon’s chief officers who were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, who bore rule over the people who labored in the work.

¹⁷กษัตริย์ทรงบัญชาและเขาทั้งหลายสกัดก้อนหินใหญ่มีค่าออกมา เพื่อวางรากฐานของพระนิเวศด้วยหินที่แต่งแล้ว

¹⁷The king commanded, and they cut out great stones, costly stones, to lay the foundation of the house with worked stone.

¹⁸ดังนั้นพนักงานก่อสร้างของซาโลมอน และพนักงานก่อสร้างของฮีราม และช่างสลักหินก็แต่งหินเหล่านั้น และเตรียมตัวไม้และหินเพื่อสร้างพระนิเวศ

¹⁸Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders and the Gebalites cut them, and prepared the timber and the stones to build the house.
