1ต่อมาเมื่อราชอาณาจักรของเรโหโบอัมตั้งมั่นคงและแข็งแรงแล้ว พระองค์ทรงทอดทิ้งพระราชบัญญัติของพระเยโฮวาห์เสีย และอิสราเอลทั้งปวงก็ทิ้งพร้อมกับพระองค์ด้วย
1It happened, when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established, and he was strong, that he forsook the law of Yahweh, and all Israel with him.
2อยู่มาในปีที่ห้าแห่งกษัตริย์เรโหโบอัม เพราะเขาทั้งหลายได้ละเมิดต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ ชิชักกษัตริย์แห่งอียิปต์เสด็จขึ้นมาสู้รบเยรูซาเล็ม
2It happened in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had trespassed against Yahweh,
3มีรถรบหนึ่งพันสองร้อยคันและพลม้าหกหมื่นคน และพลผู้มากับพระองค์จากอียิปต์นับไม่ถ้วนคือ ชาวลิบนี คนสุคีอิม และคนเอธิโอเปีย
3with twelve hundred chariots, and sixty thousand horsemen. The people were without number who came with him out of Egypt: the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.
4และพระองค์ทรงยึดหัวเมืองที่มีป้อมของยูดาห์และมายังเยรูซาเล็ม
4He took the fortified cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.
5แล้วเชไมอาห์ผู้พยากรณ์ได้มาเฝ้าเรโหโบอัมและบรรดาเจ้านายแห่งยูดาห์ ผู้มาประชุมกันอยู่ที่เยรูซาเล็มด้วยเรื่องชิชัก และกล่าวแก่เขาทั้งหลายว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า เจ้าได้ละทิ้งเรา เราจึงได้ละทิ้งเจ้าให้อยู่ในมือของชิชัก"
5Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, who were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘You have forsaken me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.’”
6แล้วเจ้านายแห่งอิสราเอลและกษัตริย์ได้ถ่อมตนลงและกล่าวว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงชอบธรรมแล้ว"
6Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, “Yahweh is righteous.”
7เมื่อพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงเห็นว่าเขาทั้งหลายถ่อมตัวลง พระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ได้มาถึงเชไมอาห์ว่า "เขาทั้งหลายได้ถ่อมตัวลงแล้ว เราจึงจะไม่ทำลายเขา แต่เราจะประสาทการช่วยให้พ้นแก่เขาบ้าง และพระพิโรธของเราจะไม่เทลงมาเหนือเยรูซาเล็มโดยมือของชิชัก
7When Yahweh saw that they humbled themselves, the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah, saying, “They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them; but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
8อย่างไรก็ดีเขาทั้งหลายต้องเป็นผู้รับใช้ของชิชัก เพื่อเขาทั้งหลายจะได้ทราบความแตกต่างระหว่างการรับใช้เรา และรับใช้ราชอาณาจักรทั้งหลายของแผ่นดินโลก"
8Nevertheless they shall be his servants, that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.”
9ชิชักกษัตริย์แห่งอียิปต์จึงขึ้นมาต่อสู้เยรูซาเล็ม พระองค์ทรงเก็บเอาทรัพย์สินแห่งพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ และทรัพย์สมบัติในพระราชวัง พระองค์ทรงเก็บเอาไปทุกอย่าง พระองค์ทรงเก็บเอาโล่ทองคำซึ่งซาโลมอนทรงสร้างไว้นั้นไปด้วย
9So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king’s house. He took it all away. He also took away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
10และกษัตริย์เรโหโบอัมทรงทำโล่ทองสัมฤทธิ์ขึ้นแทน และได้มอบไว้ในมือของทหารรักษาพระองค์ ผู้เฝ้าทวารพระราชวัง
10King Rehoboam made in their place shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.
11และกษัตริย์เสด็จเข้าไปในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์เมื่อไร ทหารรักษาพระองค์ก็มาถือโล่นั้น แล้วนำกลับไปเก็บไว้ในห้องทหารรักษาพระองค์ตามเดิม
11It was so, that as often as the king entered into the house of Yahweh, the guard came and bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.
12และเมื่อพระองค์ทรงถ่อมพระองค์ลง พระพิโรธของพระเยโฮวาห์ก็หันไปเสียจากพระองค์ มิได้ทำลายพระองค์อย่างสิ้นเชิง ยิ่งกว่านั้นอีกสภาพการณ์ก็ยังดีอยู่ในยูดาห์
12When he humbled himself, the wrath of Yahweh turned from him, so as not to destroy him altogether: and moreover in Judah there were good things found.
13กษัตริย์เรโหโบอัมจึงสถาปนาพระองค์ขึ้นในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มและทรงครอบครอง เมื่อเรโหโบอัมทรงเริ่มครอบครองนั้นมีพระชนมายุสี่สิบเอ็ดพรรษา และพระองค์ทรงครอบครองสิบเจ็ดปีในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม อันเป็นเมืองซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงเลือกสรรไว้จากตระกูลต่างๆทั้งสิ้นของอิสราเอล เพื่อจะตั้งพระนามของพระองค์ไว้ที่นั่น พระมารดาของพระองค์ทรงพระนามว่านาอามาห์คนอัมโมน
13So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.
14และพระองค์ได้ทรงกระทำการชั่วร้าย เพราะพระองค์ไม่ตั้งพระทัยของพระองค์ที่จะแสวงหาพระเยโฮวาห์
14He did that which was evil, because he didn’t set his heart to seek Yahweh.
15ส่วนพระราชกิจของเรโหโบอัม ตั้งแต่ต้นจนสุดท้าย มิได้บันทึกไว้ในหนังสือของเชไมอาห์ผู้พยากรณ์ และของอิดโดผู้ทำนายตามแบบพงศาวดารหรือ มีสงครามเรื่อยไปอยู่ระหว่างเรโหโบอัมและเยโรโบอัม
15Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, aren’t they written in the histories of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, after the way of genealogies? There were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
16และเรโหโบอัมก็ล่วงหลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์ และเขาก็ฝังพระศพไว้ในนครดาวิด และอาบียาห์ราชโอรสของพระองค์ได้ขึ้นครอบครองแทนพระองค์
16Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his place.
