1เมื่อเรโหโบอัมมายังกรุงเยรูซาเล็มแล้ว พระองค์ได้ทรงรวบรวมวงศ์วานยูดาห์และเบนยามิน เป็นนักรบที่คัดเลือกแล้วหนึ่งแสนแปดหมื่นคน เพื่อจะสู้รบกับอิสราเอล หมายจะเอาราชอาณาจักรคืนมาให้แก่เรโหโบอัม
1When Rehoboam had come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, one hundred eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.

2But the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

3“Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
4`พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า เจ้าอย่าขึ้นไปสู้รบกับพี่น้องของเจ้า จงกลับไปบ้านของตนทุกคนเถิด เพราะสิ่งนี้เป็นมาจากเรา'" เหตุฉะนี้เขาจึงเชื่อฟังพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ และกลับไป ไม่ได้สู้รบกับเยโรโบอัม
4‘Thus says Yahweh, “You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers! Return every man to his house; for this thing is of me.”’” So they listened to the words of Yahweh, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
5และเรโหโบอัมประทับในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และพระองค์ทรงสร้างหัวเมืองเพื่อป้องกันในยูดาห์
5Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and built cities for defense in Judah.
6พระองค์ทรงสร้างเมืองเบธเลเฮม เอตาม เทโคอา
6He built Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
7เบธซูร์ โสโค อดุลลัม
7Beth Zur, and Soco, and Adullam,
8กัท มาเรชาห์ และศิฟ
8and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
9อาโดราอิม ลาคีช และอาเซคาห์
9and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
10โศราห์ อัยยาโลน และเฮโบรน หัวเมืองซึ่งมีป้อมที่อยู่ในยูดาห์และในเบนยามิน
10and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.
11พระองค์ทรงเสริมป้อมปราการให้แข็งแกร่ง และส่งผู้บังคับบัญชาไปประจำการในป้อมเหล่านั้น และทรงสะสมเสบียงอาหาร น้ำมัน และน้ำองุ่น
11He fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and stores of food, and oil and wine.
12และพระองค์ทรงเก็บโล่และหอกไว้ในหัวเมืองทั้งปวง และกระทำให้หัวเมืองเหล่านั้นแข็งแรงมาก พระองค์จึงทรงยึดยูดาห์และเบนยามินไว้ได้
12He put shields and spears in every city, and made them exceeding strong. Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.
13และปุโรหิตกับคนเลวีซึ่งอยู่ในอิสราเอลทั้งสิ้นได้เข้ามาหาพระองค์จากเขตแดนซึ่งเขาอาศัยอยู่
13The priests and the Levites who were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their border.
14เพราะคนเลวีละทิ้งทุ่งหญ้าและที่บ้านซึ่งเขายึดถือเป็นกรรมสิทธิ์และมายังยูดาห์และเยรูซาเล็ม เพราะเยโรโบอัมและโอรสของพระองค์ได้ขับไล่เขาทั้งหลายออกจากตำแหน่งปุโรหิตของพระเยโฮวาห์
14For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest’s office to Yahweh;
15และพระองค์ทรงแต่งตั้งปุโรหิตของพระองค์ขึ้นสำหรับปูชนียสถานสูงทั้งหลาย และสำหรับเมษปิศาจ และสำหรับรูปลูกวัวซึ่งพระองค์ทรงสร้างขึ้น
15and he appointed him priests for the high places, and for the male goats, and for the calves which he had made.
16และบรรดาผู้ที่ปักใจแสวงพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของอิสราเอลก็ติดตามเขาทั้งหลายมาจากตระกูลทั้งปวงของอิสราเอลยังเยรูซาเล็ม เพื่อถวายสัตวบูชาต่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งบรรพบุรุษของเขาทั้งหลาย
16After them, out of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their hearts to seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
17เขาทั้งหลายได้เสริมกำลังให้ราชอาณาจักรของยูดาห์ และได้กระทำให้เรโหโบอัมโอรสของซาโลมอนเข้มแข็งอยู่ได้สามปี เพราะเขาทั้งหลายดำเนินอยู่สามปีในวิถีของดาวิดและซาโลมอน
17So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years; for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon.

18Rehoboam took him a wife, Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
19และพระนางก็ประสูติโอรสให้พระองค์คือ เยอูช เชมาริยาห์ และศาฮัม
19and she bore him sons: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
20ภายหลังพระองค์ก็ทรงรับมาอาคาห์ธิดาของอับชาโลม ผู้ซึ่งประสูติ อาบียาห์ อัททัย ศีศา และเชโลมิทให้พระองค์
20After her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom; and she bore him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.

21Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and sixty concubines, and became the father of twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.)
22และเรโหโบอัมทรงแต่งตั้งให้อาบียาห์โอรสของมาอาคาห์เป็นโอรสองค์ใหญ่ ให้เป็นประมุขท่ามกลางพี่น้องของตน เพราะพระองค์ทรงตั้งพระทัยจะให้ท่านเป็นกษัตริย์
22Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah to be chief, the prince among his brothers; for he intended to make him king.
23และพระองค์ทรงจัดการอย่างฉลาด และแจกจ่ายบรรดาโอรสของพระองค์ไปทั่วแผ่นดินทั้งสิ้นของยูดาห์และของเบนยามิน ในหัวเมืองที่มีป้อมทั้งสิ้น และพระองค์ประทานเสบียงอาหารให้อย่างอุดม และพระองค์ทรงประสงค์มเหสีมากมาย
23He dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, to every fortified city: and he gave them food in abundance. He sought for them many wives.
