1พระวิญญาณของพระเจ้าเสด็จมาสถิตกับอาซาริยาห์บุตรชายโอเดด
1The Spirit of God came on Azariah the son of Oded:
2และท่านออกไปเฝ้าอาสาทูลพระองค์ว่า "ข้าแต่อาสา และยูดาห์กับเบนยามินทั้งปวง ขอจงฟังข้าพเจ้า พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสถิตกับท่านทั้งหลาย ต่อเมื่อท่านทั้งหลายอยู่กับพระองค์ ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายแสวงหาพระองค์ ท่านก็จะพบพระองค์ แต่ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายทอดทิ้งพระองค์ พระองค์จะทรงทอดทิ้งท่านทั้งหลาย
2and he went out to meet Asa, and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin! Yahweh is with you, while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.
3อิสราเอลอยู่ปราศจากพระเจ้าเที่ยงแท้เป็นเวลานาน และไม่มีปุโรหิตผู้สั่งสอน และไม่มีพระราชบัญญัติ
3Now for a long time Israel was without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.
4แต่เมื่อถึงคราวเขาทุกข์ยากลำบาก เขาหันมาหาพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลและแสวงหาพระองค์ เขาทั้งหลายก็พบพระองค์
4But when in their distress they turned to Yahweh, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.
5ในสมัยนั้นไม่มีสันติภาพแก่ผู้ที่ออกไปหรือผู้ที่เข้ามา เพราะมีการวุ่นวายอยู่มากมายรบกวนชาวเมืองทั้งหลายนั้น
5In those times there was no peace to him who went out, nor to him who came in; but great troubles were on all the inhabitants of the lands.
6เขาแตกแยกกันเป็นพวกๆ ประชาชาติต่อประชาชาติและเมืองต่อเมือง เพราะพระเจ้าทรงรบกวนเขาด้วยความทุกข์ยากทุกอย่าง
6They were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city; for God troubled them with all adversity.
7แต่ท่านทั้งหลายจงกล้าหาญ อย่าให้มือของท่านอ่อนลง เพราะว่ากิจการของท่านจะได้รับบำเหน็จ"
7But you be strong, and don’t let your hands be slack; for your work shall be rewarded.”
8เมื่ออาสาทรงสดับถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ คือคำพยากรณ์ของโอเดดผู้พยากรณ์ พระองค์ก็ทรงมีพระทัยกล้าขึ้น ทรงกำจัดสิ่งที่น่าสะอิดสะเอียนจากแผ่นดินยูดาห์และเบนยามินสิ้น และจากหัวเมืองซึ่งพระองค์ยึดมาได้จากถิ่นเทือกเขาเอฟราอิม และพระองค์ทรงซ่อมแซมแท่นบูชาของพระเยโฮวาห์ ซึ่งอยู่หน้ามุขพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์
8When Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from the hill country of Ephraim; and he renewed the altar of Yahweh, that was before the porch of Yahweh.
9และพระองค์ทรงรวบรวมยูดาห์และเบนยามินทั้งปวง และคนเหล่านั้นจากเอฟราอิม มนัสเสห์ และจากสิเมโอน ผู้อาศัยอยู่กับเขาทั้งหลาย เพราะคนเป็นจำนวนมากได้หลบหนีมาหาพระองค์จากอิสราเอล เมื่อเขาเห็นว่าพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพระองค์สถิตกับพระองค์
9He gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those who lived with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that Yahweh his God was with him.
10เขาทั้งหลายชุมนุมกันที่เยรูซาเล็มในเดือนที่สามของปีที่สิบห้าในรัชกาลของอาสา
10So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
11เขาทั้งหลายถวายสัตวบูชาแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ในวันนั้นจากข้าวของที่เขาได้ริบมา มีวัวผู้เจ็ดร้อยตัวและแกะเจ็ดพันตัว
11They sacrificed to Yahweh in that day, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred head of cattle and seven thousand sheep.
12และเขาก็เข้าทำพันธสัญญาที่จะแสวงหาพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งบรรพบุรุษของเขาด้วยสุดจิตสุดใจของเขา
12They entered into the covenant to seek Yahweh, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul;
13และว่าผู้ใดที่ไม่แสวงหาพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลควรจะมีโทษถึงตาย ไม่ว่าเล็กหรือใหญ่ ชายหรือหญิง
13and that whoever would not seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
14เขาทั้งหลายได้กระทำสัตย์ปฏิญาณต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ด้วยเสียงอันดัง และด้วยเสียงโห่ร้อง และด้วยเสียงแตรและแตรทองเหลืองขนาดเล็ก
14They swore to Yahweh with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.
15และยูดาห์ทั้งปวงก็เปรมปรีดิ์เพราะสัตย์ปฏิญาณนั้น เพราะเขาทั้งหลายได้ปฏิญาณด้วยสุดใจของเขา และได้แสวงหาพระองค์ด้วยสิ้นความปรารถนาของเขา และเขาทั้งหลายก็พบพระองค์ และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงประทานให้เขาหยุดพักสงบรอบด้าน
15All Judah rejoiced at the oath; for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and Yahweh gave them rest all around.
16แม้ว่ามาอาคาห์พระมารดาของกษัตริย์อาสา พระองค์ก็ทรงถอดเสียจากเป็นพระราชชนนี เพราะพระนางได้กระทำรูปเคารพอันน่าเกลียดน่าชังในเสารูปเคารพ อาสาทรงโค่นรูปเคารพของพระนางลง และบดและเผาเสียที่ลำธารขิดโรน
16Also Maacah, the mother of Asa the king, he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and made dust of it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
17แต่ยังมิได้กำจัดปูชนียสถานสูงออกเสียจากอิสราเอล อย่างไรก็ดีพระทัยของอาสาก็บริสุทธิ์ตลอดรัชสมัยของพระองค์
17But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.
18และพระองค์ทรงนำของอุทิศถวายของราชบิดาของพระองค์และข้าวของที่พระองค์เองทรงอุทิศถวาย มีเงิน และทองคำ และเครื่องใช้เข้าไปในพระนิเวศของพระเจ้า
18He brought into God’s house the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
19และไม่มีสงครามอีกจนปีที่สามสิบห้าในรัชกาลของอาสา
19There was no more war to the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
