¹ฝ่ายซาโลมอนทรงตั้งพระทัยที่จะสร้างพระนิเวศเพื่อพระนามของพระเยโฮวาห์ และสร้างราชวังเพื่อราชอาณาจักรของพระองค์

¹Now Solomon purposed to build a house for the name of Yahweh, and a house for his kingdom.

²และซาโลมอนทรงกำหนดให้เจ็ดหมื่นคนเป็นคนขนของ และให้แปดหมื่นคนสกัดหินที่ถิ่นเทือกเขา และให้คนสามพันหกร้อยคนดูแลเขาทั้งหลาย

²Solomon counted out seventy thousand men to bear burdens, and eighty thousand men who were stone cutters in the mountains, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.

³และซาโลมอนทรงส่งราชสารไปยังหุรามกษัตริย์เมืองไทระว่า "ท่านได้กระทำกิจกับดาวิดราชบิดาของข้าพเจ้า คือ ได้ส่งไม้สนสีดาร์ให้พระองค์ท่าน เพื่อสร้างวังให้พระองค์ท่านอาศัยอย่างไร ขอท่านได้กระทำแก่ข้าพเจ้าอย่างนั้น

³Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, “As you dealt with David my father, and sent him cedars to build him a house in which to dwell, so deal with me.

⁴ดูเถิด ข้าพเจ้ากำลังจะสร้างพระนิเวศเพื่อพระนามพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของข้าพเจ้า และมอบถวายแด่พระองค์ เพื่อเผาเครื่องหอมต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์ และเพื่อขนมปังหน้าพระพักตร์เนืองนิตย์ และเพื่อเครื่องเผาบูชาทั้งเช้าและเย็น ในวันสะบาโต และในวันข้างขึ้น และวันเทศกาลตามกำหนดของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเรา ซึ่งเป็นกฎตั้งไว้เป็นนิตย์สำหรับอิสราเอล

⁴Behold, I am about to build a house for the name of Yahweh my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him incense of sweet spices, and for the continual show bread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts of Yahweh our God. This is an ordinance forever to Israel.

⁵พระนิเวศซึ่งข้าพเจ้าจะสร้างนั้นใหญ่โต เพราะว่าพระเจ้าของเราใหญ่ยิ่งกว่าพระทั้งปวง

⁵“The house which I build is great; for our God is great above all gods.

⁶แต่ผู้ใดเล่าที่จะสามารถสร้างพระนิเวศสำหรับพระองค์ได้ ในเมื่อฟ้าสวรรค์ถึงแม้ว่าฟ้าสวรรค์ที่สูงที่สุดรับรองพระองค์ไว้ไม่ได้ ข้าพเจ้าเป็นผู้ใดเล่าที่จะสร้างพระนิเวศสำหรับพระองค์ นอกจากให้เป็นที่เผาเครื่องบูชาต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์เท่านั้น

⁶But who is able to build him a house, since heaven and the heaven of heavens can’t contain him? who am I then, that I should build him a house, except just to burn incense before him?

⁷เพราะฉะนั้น บัดนี้ขอส่งชายคนหนึ่งผู้ชำนาญการช่างทองคำ เงิน ทองสัมฤทธิ์และเหล็กและชำนาญในเรื่องผ้าสีม่วง สีแดงเข้มและสีฟ้า ทั้งเป็นผู้ชำนาญในการแกะสลัก เพื่อจะอยู่กับช่างฝีมือผู้อยู่กับข้าพเจ้าในยูดาห์และในเยรูซาเล็ม ผู้ซึ่งดาวิดราชบิดาของข้าพเจ้าได้จัดหาไว้

⁷“Now therefore send me a man skillful to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and who knows how to engrave engravings, to be with the skillful men who are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father provided.

⁸ขอท่านส่งไม้สนสีดาร์ ไม้สนสามใบและไม้ประดู่จากเลบานอนให้ข้าพเจ้าด้วย เพราะข้าพเจ้าทราบว่า ข้าราชการของท่านรู้จักการตัดไม้ในเลบานอน และดูเถิด ข้าราชการของข้าพเจ้าจะอยู่กับข้าราชการของท่าน

⁸“Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon; for I know that your servants know how to cut timber in Lebanon: and behold, my servants shall be with your servants,

⁹เพื่อจัดเตรียมตัวไม้ให้แก่ข้าพเจ้าให้มากมาย เพราะว่าพระนิเวศที่ข้าพเจ้าจะสร้างนี้จะใหญ่โตและแปลกประหลาด

⁹even to prepare me timber in abundance; for the house which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful.

¹⁰และดูเถิด ส่วนข้าราชการของท่าน คือผู้ที่โค่นตัดไม้นั้น ข้าพเจ้าจะให้ข้าวสาลีนวดแล้วสองหมื่นโคระ ข้าวบารลีสองหมื่นโคระ น้ำองุ่นสองหมื่นบัท และน้ำมันสองหมื่นบัทแก่เขาทั้งหลาย"

¹⁰Behold, I will give to your servants, the cutters who cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.”

¹¹แล้วหุรามกษัตริย์แห่งเมืองไทระทรงตอบเป็นลายพระหัตถ์ ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงมีไปถึงซาโลมอนว่า "เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงรักประชาชนของพระองค์ พระองค์จึงทรงกระทำให้ท่านเป็นกษัตริย์เหนือเขาทั้งหลาย"

¹¹Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, “Because Yahweh loves his people, he has made you king over them.”

¹²หุรามตรัสอีกว่า "สาธุการแด่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ผู้ทรงสร้างฟ้าสวรรค์และแผ่นดินโลก ผู้ได้ประทานโอรสที่ฉลาดคนหนึ่งแก่ดาวิดกอปรด้วยความเฉลียวฉลาดและความเข้าใจ ผู้ซึ่งจะสร้างพระนิเวศถวายพระเยโฮวาห์ และสร้างพระราชวังเพื่อราชอาณาจักรของพระองค์

¹²Huram continued, “Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who has given to David the king a wise son, endowed with discretion and understanding, that should build a house for Yahweh, and a house for his kingdom.

¹³บัดนี้ข้าพเจ้าได้ส่งช่างฝีมือคนหนึ่ง กอปรด้วยความเข้าใจ คือหุรามที่ปรึกษาอาวุโส

¹³Now I have sent a skillful man, endowed with understanding, of Huram my father’s,

¹⁴บุตรชายของหญิงคนดาน บิดาของเขาเป็นชาวเมืองไทระ เขาชำนาญงานช่างทองคำ เงิน ทองสัมฤทธิ์ เหล็ก หินและไม้ และทำงานช่างผ้าสีม่วง สีฟ้า ผ้าป่านเนื้อละเอียดและผ้าสีแดงเข้ม และทำการแกะสลักทุกชนิด และสร้างตามแบบลวดลายใดๆที่จะกำหนดให้แก่เขา พร้อมกับช่างฝีมือของท่าน คือช่างฝีมือของดาวิดราชบิดาของท่านผู้เป็นเจ้านายของข้าพเจ้า

¹⁴the son of a woman of the daughters of Dan; and his father was a man of Tyre, skillful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson, also to engrave any kind of engraving, and to devise any device; that there may be a place appointed to him with your skillful men, and with the skillful men of my lord David your father.

¹⁵เพราะฉะนั้นบัดนี้เรื่องข้าวสาลี ข้าวบารลี น้ำมัน และน้ำองุ่น ซึ่งเจ้านายของข้าพเจ้าได้กล่าวถึงนั้น ขอท่านได้ส่งไปให้พวกเราผู้รับใช้ท่าน

¹⁵“Now therefore the wheat and the barley, the oil and the wine, which my lord has spoken of, let him send to his servants:

¹⁶และพวกเราจะตัดตัวไม้เท่าที่ท่านต้องการจากเลบานอน และนำมาให้ท่านโดยแพทางทะเลถึงเมืองยัฟฟา เพื่อว่าท่านจะได้นำขึ้นไปยังกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม"

¹⁶and we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as you shall need; and we will bring it to you in floats by sea to Joppa; and you shall carry it up to Jerusalem.”

¹⁷แล้วซาโลมอนทรงทำบัญชีสำมะโนครัวชนต่างด้าวทั้งสิ้นผู้อยู่ในแผ่นดินอิสราเอล ภายหลังบัญชีสำมะโนครัวซึ่งดาวิดราชบิดาของพระองค์ได้ทรงกระทำไว้ และปรากฏว่ามีคนหนึ่งแสนห้าหมื่นสามพันหกร้อยคน

¹⁷Solomon numbered all the foreigners who were in the land of Israel, after the numbering with which David his father had numbered them; and they were found one hundred fifty-three thousand six hundred.

¹⁸พระองค์ทรงกำหนดให้เจ็ดหมื่นคนเป็นคนขนของ และให้แปดหมื่นคนสกัดหินที่ถิ่นเทือกเขา และคนสามพันหกร้อยคนเป็นผู้ดูแลให้ประชาชนทำงาน

¹⁸He set seventy thousand of them to bear burdens, and eighty thousand who were stone cutters in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred overseers to set the people at work.
