¹อยู่มาในปีที่สามแห่งรัชกาลโฮเชยาบุตรชายเอลาห์กษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอล เฮเซคียาห์โอรสของอาหัสกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ได้เริ่มครอบครอง

¹Now it happened in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

²เมื่อพระองค์ทรงเริ่มครอบครองนั้นพระองค์มีพระชนมายุยี่สิบห้าพรรษา และพระองค์ทรงครอบครองในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มยี่สิบเก้าปี พระมารดาของพระองค์มีพระนามว่าอาบีบุตรสาวของเศคาริยาห์

²He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.

³และพระองค์ทรงกระทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องในสายพระเนตรของพระเยโฮวาห์ ตามทุกสิ่งที่ดาวิดบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์ได้ทรงกระทำ

³He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that David his father had done.

⁴พระองค์ทรงรื้อปูชนียสถานสูงทิ้งไป และทรงพังเสาศักดิ์สิทธิ์เสีย และตัดเสารูปเคารพลงเสีย และพระองค์ทรงทุบงูทองสัมฤทธิ์ซึ่งโมเสสสร้างขึ้นนั้นเป็นชิ้นๆ เพราะว่าประชาชนอิสราเอลได้เผาเครื่องหอมให้แก่งูนั้นจนถึงวันเหล่านั้น เขาเรียกงูนั้นว่าเนหุชทาน

⁴He removed the high places, and broke the pillars, and cut down the Asherah: and he broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for in those days the children of Israel burned incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.

⁵พระองค์ทรงวางพระทัยในพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล เพราะฉะนั้นในบรรดากษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ต่อจากพระองค์มาหรือในบรรดาผู้อยู่ก่อนพระองค์ ไม่มีผู้ใดเหมือนพระองค์

⁵He trusted in Yahweh, the God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among them that were before him.

⁶เพราะว่าพระองค์ทรงยึดพระเยโฮวาห์แน่น พระองค์มิได้ทรงพรากจากการติดตามพระองค์เลย แต่ได้รักษาพระบัญญัติซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงบัญชาแก่โมเสส

⁶For he joined with Yahweh; he didn’t depart from following him, but kept his commandments, which Yahweh commanded Moses.

⁷และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสถิตกับพระองค์ พระองค์ทรงออกไปยังที่ใด พระองค์ก็ทรงกระทำความสำเร็จที่นั่น พระองค์ได้ทรงกบฏต่อกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรีย และไม่ยอมปรนนิบัติท่าน

⁷Yahweh was with him; wherever he went forth he prospered: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and didn’t serve him.

⁸พระองค์ทรงโจมตีคนฟีลิสเตียไกลไปจนถึงเมืองกาซาและดินแดนเมืองนั้น ตั้งแต่ที่ที่มีหอคอยเหตุกระทั่งถึงเมืองที่มีป้อม

⁸He struck the Philistines to Gaza and its borders, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.

⁹และอยู่มาในปีที่สี่แห่งรัชกาลกษัตริย์เฮเซคียาห์ ซึ่งเป็นปีที่เจ็ดแห่งรัชกาลโฮเชยาบุตรชายเอลาห์กษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอล แชลมาเนเสอร์กษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียได้ทรงยกขึ้นมารบสะมาเรียและล้อมเมืองไว้

⁹It happened in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

¹⁰และเมื่อสิ้นสามปีเขาก็ยึดเมืองนั้นได้ ในปีที่หกแห่งรัชกาลเฮเซคียาห์ ซึ่งเป็นปีที่เก้าแห่งรัชกาลโฮเชยากษัตริย์แห่งอิสราเอล สะมาเรียก็ถูกยึดไป

¹⁰At the end of three years they took it: in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

¹¹กษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียได้กวาดเอาคนอิสราเอลไปยังอัสซีเรีย ไปไว้ที่ฮาลาห์ และข้างแม่น้ำฮาโบร์แม่น้ำเมืองโกซาน และในหัวเมืองของคนมีเดีย

¹¹The king of Assyria carried Israel away to Assyria, and put them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes,

¹²เพราะว่าเขาทั้งหลายมิได้เชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของตน แต่ได้ละเมิดพันธสัญญาของพระองค์ คือทุกอย่างซึ่งโมเสสผู้รับใช้ของพระเยโฮวาห์ได้บัญชาไว้ และเขาทั้งหลายไม่ฟัง ไม่กระทำตาม

¹²because they didn’t obey the voice of Yahweh their God, but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded, and would not hear it, nor do it.

¹³ในปีที่สิบสี่แห่งรัชกาลกษัตริย์เฮเซคียาห์ เซนนาเคอริบกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียได้ทรงยกขึ้นมาต่อสู้บรรดานครที่มีป้อมของยูดาห์ และยึดได้

¹³Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.

¹⁴และเฮเซคียาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ทรงใช้ให้ไปทูลกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียที่เมืองลาคีชว่า "ข้าพเจ้าได้กระทำผิด ขอถอนทัพไปเสียจากข้าพเจ้า ท่านจะปรับสักเท่าใด ข้าพเจ้าจะยอมทั้งสิ้น" และกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียได้เรียกร้องเอาเงินสามร้อยตะลันต์ และทองคำสามสิบตะลันต์ จากเฮเซคียาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์

¹⁴Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, “I have offended; return from me. That which you put on me, I will bear.” The king of Assyria appointed to Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

¹⁵และเฮเซคียาห์ได้มอบเงินทั้งหมดซึ่งมีอยู่ในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ และในคลังสำนักพระราชวัง

¹⁵Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of Yahweh, and in the treasures of the king’s house.

¹⁶ในครั้งนั้นเฮเซคียาห์ทรงลอกทองคำจากประตูทั้งหลายของพระวิหารแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ และจากเสาประตูซึ่งเฮเซคียาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ทรงบุทองคำไว้ และทรงมอบให้แก่กษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรีย

¹⁶At that time, Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of Yahweh’s temple, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

¹⁷และกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียได้รับสั่งให้ทารทาน รับสารีสและรับชาเคห์ไปพร้อมกับกองทัพใหญ่จากเมืองลาคีชถึงกรุงเยรูซาเล็มเข้าเฝ้ากษัตริย์เฮเซคียาห์ เขาก็ขึ้นไปยังกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม เมื่อเขาขึ้นมาเขาก็มายืนอยู่ทางรางระบายน้ำสระบน ซึ่งอยู่ที่ถนนลานซักฟอก

¹⁷The king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army to Jerusalem. They went up and came to Jerusalem. When they had come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.

¹⁸และเมื่อเขาเรียกหากษัตริย์แล้ว เอลียาคิมบุตรชายฮิลคียาห์ ผู้บัญชาการราชสำนัก พร้อมกับเชบนาห์ราชเลขา และโยอาห์บุตรชายของอาสาฟเจ้ากรมสารบรรณ ก็ออกไปหาพวกเขา

¹⁸When they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

¹⁹และรับชาเคห์พูดกับเขาว่า "จงทูลเฮเซคียาห์ว่า `พระมหากษัตริย์ คือกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรีย ตรัสดังนี้ว่า ท่านวางใจในอะไร

¹⁹Rabshakeh said to them, “Say now to Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, “What confidence is this in which you trust?

²⁰ท่านคิดว่า (แต่เป็นเพียงแต่ถ้อยคำไร้สาระ) "เรามียุทธศาสตร์และแสนยานุภาพ" หรือ เดี๋ยวนี้ท่านวางใจในใคร ท่านจึงได้กบฏต่อเรา

²⁰You say (but they are but vain words), ‘There is counsel and strength for war.’ Now on whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?

²¹ดูเถิด เดี๋ยวนี้ท่านวางใจในไม้เท้าอ้อช้ำ คืออียิปต์ ซึ่งจะตำมือของคนใดๆที่ใช้ไม้เท้านั้นยัน ฟาโรห์กษัตริย์แห่งอียิปต์เป็นเช่นนั้นต่อทุกคนที่วางใจในเขา

²¹Now, behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt. If a man leans on it, it will go into his hand, and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust on him.

²²แต่ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายจะบอกเราว่า "เราวางใจในพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเรา" ก็ปูชนียสถานสูงและแท่นบูชาของพระองค์นั้นมิใช่หรือที่เฮเซคียาห์รื้อทิ้งเสียแล้ว พลางกล่าวแก่ยูดาห์และเยรูซาเล็มว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายจงนมัสการที่หน้าแท่นบูชานี้ในเยรูซาเล็มเถิด"

²²But if you tell me, ‘We trust in Yahweh our God;’ isn’t that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?’

²³บัดนี้ มาเถิด มาทำสัญญากันกับกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียนายของข้า เราจะให้ม้าสองพันตัวแก่เจ้า ถ้าฝ่ายเจ้าหาคนที่ขี่ม้าเหล่านั้นได้

²³Now therefore, please give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.

²⁴แล้วอย่างนั้นเจ้าจะขับไล่นายกองแต่เพียงคนเดียวในหมู่ข้าราชการผู้น้อยที่สุดของนายของเราอย่างไรได้ แต่เจ้ายังวางใจพึ่งอียิปต์เพื่อรถรบและเพื่อพลม้า

²⁴How then can you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

²⁵Have I now come up without Yahweh against this place to destroy it? Yahweh said to me, ‘Go up against this land, and destroy it.’”’”

²⁶แล้วเอลียาคิมบุตรชายฮิลคียาห์และเชบนาห์และโยอาห์ เรียนรับชาเคห์ว่า "ขอทีเถอะ ขอพูดกับผู้รับใช้ของท่านเป็นภาษาอารัมเถิด เพราะเราเข้าใจภาษานั้น ขออย่าพูดกับเราเป็นภาษาฮีบรูให้ประชาชนผู้อยู่บนกำแพงนั้นได้ยินเลย"

²⁶Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, said to Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it. Don’t speak with us in the Jews’ language, in the hearing of the people who are on the wall.”

²⁷แต่รับชาเคห์พูดกับเขาทั้งหลายว่า "นายของข้าใช้ให้เรามาพูดถ้อยคำเหล่านี้แก่นายของเจ้าและแก่เจ้า และไม่ให้พูดกับคนที่นั่งอยู่บนกำแพง ผู้ที่จะต้องกินขี้และกินเยี่ยวของเขาพร้อมกับเจ้าอย่างนั้นหรือ"

²⁷But Rabshakeh said to them, “Has my master sent me to your master, and to you, to speak these words? Hasn’t he sent me to the men who sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?”

²⁸Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and spoke, saying, “Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.

²⁹กษัตริย์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า `อย่าให้เฮเซคียาห์ลวงเจ้า เพราะเขาไม่สามารถที่จะช่วยเจ้าให้พ้นจากพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์

²⁹Thus says the king, ‘Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you out of his hand.

³⁰อย่าให้เฮเซคียาห์กระทำให้เจ้าวางใจในพระเยโฮวาห์โดยกล่าวว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงช่วยเราให้พ้นแน่ และจะไม่ทรงมอบเมืองนี้ไว้ในมือของกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรีย"'

³⁰Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in Yahweh, saying, “Yahweh will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”

³¹อย่าฟังเฮเซคียาห์ เพราะกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียตรัสดังนี้ว่า `จงทำสัญญาไมตรีกับเราด้วยของกำนัล และออกมาหาเรา แล้วทุกคนจะได้กินจากเถาองุ่นของตน และทุกคนจะกินจากต้นมะเดื่อของตน และทุกคนจะดื่มน้ำจากที่ขังน้ำของตน

³¹Don’t listen to Hezekiah.’ For thus says the king of Assyria, ‘Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and everyone of you eat of his vine, and everyone of his fig tree, and everyone drink the waters of his own cistern;

³²จนเราจะมานำเจ้าไปยังแผ่นดินที่เหมือนแผ่นดินของเจ้าเอง เป็นแผ่นดินที่มีข้าวและน้ำองุ่น เป็นแผ่นดินที่มีขนมปังและสวนองุ่น เป็นแผ่นดินที่มีน้ำมันมะกอกเทศและน้ำผึ้ง เพื่อเจ้าทั้งหลายจะมีชีวิตอยู่และไม่ตาย และอย่าฟังเฮเซคียาห์เมื่อเขานำเจ้าผิดไปโดยกล่าวว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงช่วยเราทั้งหลายให้พ้น"

³²until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees and of honey, that you may live, and not die. Don’t listen to Hezekiah, when he persuades you, saying, “Yahweh will deliver us.”

³³มีพระแห่งประชาชาติองค์ใดเคยช่วยแผ่นดินของตนให้พ้นจากพระหัตถ์ของกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียได้หรือ

³³Has any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

³⁴พระของเมืองฮามัทและเมืองอารปัดอยู่ที่ไหน พระของเมืองเสฟารวาอิม เฮนาและอิฟวาห์อยู่ที่ไหน เขาได้ช่วยสะมาเรียให้พ้นจากมือของเราหรือ

³⁴Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah? Have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?

³⁵พระองค์ใดในบรรดาพระทั้งหลายของประเทศเหล่านี้ได้ช่วยประเทศของตนให้พ้นจากมือของเรา แล้วพระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงช่วยเยรูซาเล็มให้พ้นจากมือของเราหรือ'"

³⁵Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that Yahweh should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?’”

³⁶แต่ประชาชนนิ่งไม่ตอบเขาสักคำเดียว เพราะพระบัญชาของกษัตริย์มีว่า "อย่าตอบเขาเลย"

³⁶But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word; for the king’s commandment was, “Don’t answer him.”

³⁷แล้วเอลียาคิมบุตรชายฮิลคียาห์ ผู้บัญชาการราชสำนัก และเชบนาห์ราชเลขา และโยอาห์บุตรชายอาสาฟเจ้ากรมสารบรรณ ได้เข้าเฝ้าเฮเซคียาห์ด้วยเสื้อผ้าฉีกขาด และกราบทูลถ้อยคำของรับชาเคห์

³⁷Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, came with Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
