1ฝ่ายโยอาบบุตรชายของนางเศรุยาห์ทราบว่า กษัตริย์อาลัยถึงอับซาโลม
1Now Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king’s heart was toward Absalom.
2โยอาบจึงใช้คนไปยังเมืองเทโคอาพาหญิงที่ฉลาดมาจากที่นั่นคนหนึ่ง บอกนางว่า "ขอจงแสร้งทำเป็นคนไว้ทุกข์ สวมเสื้อของคนไว้ทุกข์ อย่าชโลมน้ำมัน แต่แสร้งทำเหมือนผู้หญิงที่ไว้ทุกข์ให้ผู้ตายมาหลายวันแล้ว
2Joab sent to Tekoa, and fetched there a wise woman, and said to her, “Please act like a mourner, and put on mourning clothing, please, and don’t anoint yourself with oil, but be as a woman who has mourned a long time for the dead.
3จงเข้าไปเฝ้ากษัตริย์ กราบทูลข้อความนี้แก่พระองค์" แล้วโยอาบก็สอนคำกราบทูลให้หญิงนั้น
3Go in to the king, and speak like this to him.” So Joab put the words in her mouth.
4เมื่อหญิงชาวเทโคอามาเฝ้ากษัตริย์ นางก็ซบหน้าลงถึงดินถวายบังคมแล้วกราบทูลว่า "ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ ขอพระกรุณาคุณเป็นที่พึ่ง"
4When the woman of Tekoa spoke to the king, she fell on her face to the ground, showed respect, and said, “Help, O king!”
5กษัตริย์ตรัสถามหญิงนั้นว่า "เจ้ามีเรื่องอะไร" นางกราบทูลว่า "หม่อมฉันเป็นหญิงม่ายอย่างแท้จริง สามีตายเสียแล้ว
5The king said to her, “What ails you?” She answered, “Truly I am a widow, and my husband is dead.
6สาวใช้ของพระองค์มีบุตรชายสองคน วิวาทกันที่ในทุ่งนา ไม่มีใครช่วยห้ามปราม บุตรชายคนหนึ่งจึงตีอีกคนหนึ่งตาย
6Your handmaid had two sons, and they both fought together in the field, and there was no one to part them, but the one struck the other, and killed him.
7ดูเถิด หมู่ญาติทั้งสิ้นรุมกันมาหาสาวใช้ของพระองค์บอกว่า `จงมอบผู้ที่ฆ่าพี่ชายของตัวมาให้เรา เพื่อเราจะฆ่าเขาเสีย เพื่อแก้แค้นแทนพี่ชายที่เขาได้ฆ่าเสียนั้น จะได้ฆ่าผู้ที่รับมรดกเสียด้วย' ดังว่าจะดับถ่านไฟของหม่อมฉันที่ยังเหลืออยู่นั้นเสีย ไม่ให้สามีของหม่อมฉันมีชื่อหรือมีเชื้อเหลืออยู่บนพื้นโลกเลย"
7Behold, the whole family has risen against your handmaid, and they say, ‘Deliver him who struck his brother, that we may kill him for the life of his brother whom he killed, and so destroy the heir also.’ Thus they would quench my coal which is left, and would leave to my husband neither name nor remainder on the surface of the earth.”
8กษัตริย์จึงรับสั่งแก่หญิงคนนั้นว่า "ไปบ้านของเจ้าเถิด เราจะสั่งการเรื่องเจ้า"
8The king said to the woman, “Go to your house, and I will give a command concerning you.”
9หญิงชาวเทโคอาได้กราบทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "ข้าแต่กษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉัน ขอให้ความชั่วช้าตกอยู่กับหม่อมฉัน และกับวงศ์วานบิดาของหม่อมฉัน แต่กษัตริย์และราชบัลลังก์ของพระองค์อย่าให้มีโทษเลย"
9The woman of Tekoa said to the king, “My lord, O king, the iniquity be on me, and on my father’s house; and the king and his throne be guiltless.”
10กษัตริย์ตรัสว่า "ถ้ามีผู้ใดกล่าวอะไรแก่เจ้า จงพาเขามาหาเรา คนนั้นจะไม่แตะต้องเจ้าอีกเลย"
10The king said, “Whoever says anything to you, bring him to me, and he shall not touch you any more.”
11นางก็กราบทูลว่า "ข้าแต่พระองค์ ขอกษัตริย์ทรงระลึกถึงพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพระองค์ เพื่อผู้อาฆาตโลหิตจะไม่กระทำการฆ่าอีกต่อไป เกรงว่าพวกเขาจะได้ทำลายบุตรชายของหม่อมฉัน" พระองค์ตรัสว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด เส้นผมของบุตรชายของเจ้าสักเส้นเดียวจะไม่ตกลงถึงดิน"
11Then she said, “Please let the king remember Yahweh your God, that the avenger of blood destroy not any more, lest they destroy my son.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the earth.”
12แล้วหญิงนั้นกราบทูลว่า "ข้าแต่พระองค์ ขอสาวใช้ของพระองค์กราบทูลอีกสักคำหนึ่งแก่กษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉัน" พระองค์ตรัสว่า "พูดไป"
12Then the woman said, “Please let your handmaid speak a word to my lord the king.” He said, “Say on.”
13หญิงนั้นจึงกราบทูลว่า "เหตุใดพระองค์ทรงดำริจะกระทำอย่างนี้แก่ประชาชนของพระเจ้า ในการที่ตรัสเช่นนี้กษัตริย์ทรงกล่าวโทษพระองค์เอง ในประการที่กษัตริย์มิได้ทรงนำผู้ถูกเนรเทศกลับสู่พระราชสำนัก
13The woman said, “Why then have you devised such a thing against the people of God? For in speaking this word the king is as one who is guilty, in that the king does not bring home again his banished one.
14คนเราจะต้องตายหมดด้วยกันทุกคน เป็นเหมือนน้ำที่หกบนแผ่นดิน จะเก็บรวมกลับคืนมาอีกไม่ได้ พระเจ้าไม่ทรงเลือกหน้าผู้ใด แต่ทรงดำริหาหนทางไม่ให้ผู้ที่ถูกเนรเทศต้องถูกทรงทอดทิ้ง
14For we must die, and are as water split on the ground, which can’t be gathered up again; neither does God take away life, but devises means, that he who is banished not be an outcast from him.
15ที่หม่อมฉันมากราบทูลเรื่องนี้ต่อกษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉัน เพราะประชาชนขู่หม่อมฉันให้กลัว และสาวใช้ของพระองค์คิดว่า `หม่อมฉันจะกราบทูลกษัตริย์ หวังว่ากษัตริย์จะโปรดตามคำขอของหญิงผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์
15Now therefore seeing that I have come to speak this word to my lord the king, it is because the people have made me afraid: and your handmaid said, ‘I will now speak to the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his servant.’
16ด้วยกษัตริย์จะทรงสดับฟัง และทรงช่วยหญิงผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ให้พ้นจากมือของผู้ที่ตั้งใจทำลายหม่อมฉัน และบุตรชายของหม่อมฉันเสียจากมรดกของพระเจ้า'
16For the king will hear, to deliver his servant out of the hand of the man who would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.
17และสาวใช้ของพระองค์คิดว่า `ขอให้พระดำรัสของกษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉันเป็นที่ให้พำนัก' เพราะกษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉันเปรียบประดุจทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งของพระเจ้าในการที่จะประจักษ์ความดีและความชั่ว ขอพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพระองค์ทรงสถิตกับพระองค์เถิด"
17Then your handmaid said, ‘Please let the word of my lord the king bring rest; for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad. May Yahweh, your God, be with you.’”
18แล้วกษัตริย์ทรงตอบหญิงนั้นว่า "สิ่งใดที่เราจะถามเจ้า เจ้าอย่าปิดบังนะ" ผู้หญิงนั้นกราบทูลว่า "ขอกษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉันจงตรัสเถิด"
18Then the king answered the woman, “Please don’t hide anything from me that I ask you.” The woman said, “Let my lord the king now speak.”
19กษัตริย์จึงตรัสถามว่า "ในเรื่องทั้งสิ้นนี้มือของโยอาบเกี่ยวข้องกับเจ้าด้วยหรือเปล่า" หญิงนั้นทูลตอบว่า "ข้าแต่กษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉัน พระองค์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด ไม่มีใครหลบหลีกพระดำรัสของกษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉัน ไปทางขวาหรือทางซ้ายได้ โยอาบผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์นั่นแหละให้หม่อมฉันกราบทูล เขาเป็นผู้สอนคำกราบทูลแก่หม่อมฉันสาวใช้ของพระองค์
19The king said, “Is the hand of Joab with you in all this?” The woman answered, “As your soul lives, my lord the king, no one can turn to the right hand or to the left from anything that my lord the king has spoken; for your servant Joab, he urged me, and he put all these words in the mouth of your handmaid;
20โยอาบผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ได้กระทำเช่นนี้ก็เพื่อจะเปลี่ยนโฉมหน้าของเหตุการณ์ แต่เจ้านายของหม่อมฉันทรงมีพระสติปัญญา ดังสติปัญญาแห่งทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งของพระเจ้า ทรงทราบทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างที่อยู่บนพิภพ"
20to change the face of the matter has your servant Joab done this thing. My lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.”
21กษัตริย์ตรัสสั่งโยอาบว่า "ดูเถิด เราอนุมัติตามคำขอนี้แล้ว จงไปพาอับซาโลมชายหนุ่มคนนั้นกลับมา"
21The king said to Joab, “Behold now, I have done this thing. Go therefore, bring the young man Absalom back.”
22โยอาบก็ซบหน้าลงถึงดินและน้อมตัวลง แล้วโมทนาพระคุณกษัตริย์ โยอาบกราบทูลว่า "ข้าแต่กษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ วันนี้ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ทราบว่า ข้าพระองค์ได้รับพระกรุณาในสายพระเนตรของพระองค์ ในประการที่กษัตริย์ทรงทำให้บรรลุตามคำทูลขอของผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์"
22Joab fell to the ground on his face, showed respect, and blessed the king. Joab said, “Today your servant knows that I have found favor in your sight, my lord, king, in that the king has performed the request of his servant.”
23โยอาบจึงลุกขึ้นไปยังเมืองเกชูร์และพาอับซาโลมมายังกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม
23So Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to Jerusalem.
24และกษัตริย์รับสั่งว่า "ให้เขาไปอยู่วังของเขาเถิด อย่าให้เข้าเฝ้าเรา" อับซาโลมก็ไปอยู่วังของท่าน มิได้เข้าเฝ้าเฉพาะพระพักตร์กษัตริย์
24The king said, “Let him return to his own house, but let him not see my face.” So Absalom returned to his own house, and didn’t see the king’s face.
25ในบรรดาอิสราเอลหามีผู้ใดรูปงามน่าชมอย่างอับซาโลมไม่ ในตัวท่านตั้งแต่ฝ่าเท้าจนถึงกระหม่อมไม่มีตำหนิเลย
25Now in all Israel there was none to be so much praised as Absalom for his beauty: from the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.
26เมื่อท่านตัดผม (ท่านเคยตัดผมสิ้นปีทุกปี เพราะผมหนักแล้วท่านก็ตัดเสีย) ท่านก็ชั่งผมของท่านได้หนักสองร้อยเชเขลตามพิกัดหลวง
26When he cut the hair of his head (now it was at every year’s end that he cut it; because it was heavy on him, therefore he cut it); he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels, after the king’s weight.
27มีบุตรชายสามคนเกิดแก่อับซาโลมและบุตรสาวคนหนึ่งชื่อทามาร์ เธอเป็นหญิงที่หน้าตางดงาม
27To Absalom there were born three sons, and one daughter, whose name was Tamar: she was a woman of a beautiful face.
28อับซาโลมประทับในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มได้สองปีเต็ม โดยมิได้เข้าเฝ้าเฉพาะพระพักตร์กษัตริย์
28Absalom lived two full years in Jerusalem; and he didn’t see the king’s face.
29แล้วอับซาโลมก็ให้ไปตามโยอาบ จะใช้ให้เข้าไปเฝ้ากษัตริย์ แต่โยอาบไม่ยอมมาหาท่าน ท่านก็ใช้คนไปครั้งที่สอง แต่โยอาบก็ไม่มาเหมือนกัน
29Then Absalom sent for Joab, to send him to the king; but he would not come to him: and he sent again a second time, but he would not come.
30ท่านจึงสั่งมหาดเล็กของท่านว่า "ดูซิ นาของโยอาบอยู่ถัดนาของเรา เขามีข้าวบารลีที่นั่น จงเอาไฟเผาเสีย" มหาดเล็กของอับซาโลมก็ไปเอาไฟเผานา
30Therefore he said to his servants, “Behold, Joab’s field is near mine, and he has barley there. Go and set it on fire.” Absalom’s servants set the field on fire.
31โยอาบก็ลุกขึ้นไปหาอับซาโลมที่วังของท่าน ถามท่านว่า "ทำไมมหาดเล็กของท่านจึงเอาไฟเผานาของหม่อมฉัน"
31Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom to his house, and said to him, “Why have your servants set my field on fire?”
32อับซาโลมตอบโยอาบว่า "ดูเถิด เราส่งคนไปบอกท่านว่า `มานี่เถิด เราจะส่งท่านไปหากษัตริย์ทูลว่า "ให้ข้าพระองค์มาจากเกชูร์ทำไม ข้าพระองค์ยังอยู่ที่นั่นก็ดีกว่า "บัดนี้ขอให้เราได้เข้าเฝ้าเฉพาะพระพักตร์กษัตริย์ ถ้าเรามีความชั่วช้าประการใด ก็ขอพระองค์ทรงประหารเราเสีย'"
32Absalom answered Joab, “Behold, I sent to you, saying, ‘Come here, that I may send you to the king, to say, “Why have I come from Geshur? It would be better for me to be there still. Now therefore let me see the king’s face; and if there is iniquity in me, let him kill me.”’”
33โยอาบจึงเข้าไปเฝ้ากษัตริย์กราบทูลพระองค์ พระองค์ก็ทรงเรียกอับซาโลม ท่านจึงเข้าไปเฝ้ากษัตริย์โน้มกายลงซบหน้าลงถึงดินต่อพระพักตร์กษัตริย์ กษัตริย์ก็ทรงจุบอับซาโลม
33So Joab came to the king, and told him; and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed Absalom.
