1อยู่มาภายหลังอับซาโลมได้เตรียมรถรบและม้ากับทหารวิ่งนำหน้าห้าสิบคน
1It happened after this, that Absalom prepared him a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run before him.
2อับซาโลมตื่นบรรทมแต่เช้าตรู่ไปประทับริมทางไปยังประตูเมือง ถ้าผู้ใดมีเรื่องที่จะถวายกษัตริย์ให้ทรงตัดสิน อับซาโลมก็เรียกผู้นั้น ถามว่า "เจ้ามาจากเมืองไหน" และเมื่อเขาทูลตอบว่า "ผู้รับใช้ของท่านเป็นคนตระกูลหนึ่งในอิสราเอล"
2Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate. It was so, that when any man had a suit which should come to the king for judgment, then Absalom called to him, and said, “What city are you from?” He said, “Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.”
3อับซาโลมจึงจะบอกเขาว่า "ดูซิ ข้อหาของเจ้าก็ดีและถูกต้อง แต่กษัตริย์มิได้ทรงตั้งผู้ใดไว้ฟังคดีของเจ้า"
3Absalom said to him, “Behold, your matters are good and right; but there is no man deputized by the king to hear you.”
4อับซาโลมเคยกล่าวยิ่งกว่านั้นว่า "เออ ถ้าข้าเป็นผู้พิพากษาในแผ่นดินนี้ก็ดี เมื่อใครมีข้อหาหรือคดีจะได้มาหาข้า ข้าจะตัดสินให้ความยุติธรรมแก่เขา"
4Absalom said moreover, “Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who has any suit or cause might come to me, and I would do him justice!”
5เมื่อมีผู้ใดเข้ามาใกล้จะกราบถวายบังคมท่าน ท่านจะยื่นมือออกจับคนนั้นไว้และจุบเขา
5It was so, that when any man came near to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took hold of him, and kissed him.
6อับซาโลมกระทำอย่างนี้แก่บรรดาคนอิสราเอลผู้มาเฝ้ากษัตริย์เพื่อขอการพิพากษา อับซาโลมก็ลอบเอาใจคนอิสราเอลอย่างนี้
6Absalom did this sort of thing to all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
7ครั้นล่วงมาได้สี่สิบปี อับซาโลมกราบทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "ขอโปรดทรงอนุญาตให้ข้าพระองค์ไปทำตามคำปฏิญาณที่เมืองเฮโบรน ซึ่งข้าพระองค์ได้ปฏิญาณไว้ต่อพระเยโฮวาห์
7It happened at the end of forty years, that Absalom said to the king, “Please let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to Yahweh, in Hebron.
8เพราะว่าผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ได้ปฏิญาณไว้เมื่อครั้งอยู่ในเมืองเกชูร์ประเทศซีเรียว่า `ถ้าพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงโปรดนำข้าพระองค์มายังกรุงเยรูซาเล็มจริงแล้ว ข้าพระองค์จะปรนนิบัติพระเยโฮวาห์'"
8For your servant vowed a vow while I stayed at Geshur in Syria, saying, ‘If Yahweh shall indeed bring me again to Jerusalem, then I will serve Yahweh.’”
9กษัตริย์ตรัสตอบท่านว่า "จงไปเป็นสุขเถิด" ท่านก็ลุกขึ้นไปยังเมืองเฮโบรน
9The king said to him, “Go in peace.” So he arose, and went to Hebron.
10แต่อับซาโลมได้ส่งผู้สื่อสารไปทั่วอิสราเอลทุกตระกูลว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายได้ยินเสียงแตรเมื่อไร จงกล่าวกันว่า `อับซาโลมเป็นกษัตริย์ที่กรุงเฮโบรน'"
10But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, ‘Absalom is king in Hebron!’”
11มีชายสองร้อยคนไปกับอับซาโลมจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม เป็นคนที่ถูกเชิญให้ไป คนเหล่านี้ก็ไปกันเฉยๆ หาทราบเรื่องอะไรไม่
11Two hundred men went with Absalom out of Jerusalem, who were invited, and went in their simplicity; and they didn’t know anything.
12ขณะเมื่ออับซาโลมถวายสัตวบูชาอยู่ ท่านส่งคนไปเชิญอาหิโธเฟลชาวกิโลห์ที่ปรึกษาของดาวิดมาจากนครของเขาคือกิโลห์ การที่คบคิดกันนั้นก็เพิ่มกำลังขึ้น คนที่มาฝักใฝ่อยู่กับอับซาโลมก็เพิ่มขึ้นเรื่อยๆ
12Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he was offering the sacrifices. The conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.
13ผู้สื่อสารคนหนึ่งมาเฝ้าดาวิดกราบทูลว่า "ใจของคนอิสราเอลได้คล้อยตามอับซาโลมไปแล้ว"
13A messenger came to David, saying, “The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.”
14แล้วดาวิดรับสั่งแก่บรรดาข้าราชการที่อยู่กับพระองค์ ณ เยรูซาเล็มว่า "จงลุกขึ้นให้เราหนีไปเถิด มิฉะนั้นเราจะหนีไม่พ้นจากอับซาโลมสักคนเดียว จงรีบไป เกรงว่าเขาจะตามเราทันโดยเร็วและนำเหตุร้ายมาถึงเรา และทำลายกรุงนี้เสียด้วยคมดาบ"
14David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, “Arise, and let us flee; for else none of us shall escape from Absalom. Make speed to depart, lest he overtake us quickly, and bring down evil on us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.”
15ข้าราชการของกษัตริย์จึงกราบทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "ดูเถิด ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์พร้อมที่จะกระทำตามสิ่งซึ่งกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ตัดสินพระทัยทุกประการ"
15The king’s servants said to the king, “Behold, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king chooses.”
16กษัตริย์ก็เสด็จออกไปพร้อมกับบรรดาคนในราชสำนักของพระองค์ด้วย เว้นแต่นางสนมสิบคนกษัตริย์ได้ทรงละไว้ให้เฝ้าพระราชวัง
16The king went forth, and all his household after him. The king left ten women, who were concubines, to keep the house.
17กษัตริย์ก็เสด็จออกไป พลทั้งสิ้นก็ตามพระองค์ไป และเสด็จประทับในสถานที่ที่อยู่ห่างไกล
17The king went forth, and all the people after him; and they stayed in Beth Merhak.
18บรรดาข้าราชการทั้งสิ้นเดินผ่านพระองค์ไป บรรดาคนเคเรธีและคนเปเลทกับคนกัท หกร้อยคนที่ติดตามพระองค์มาจากเมืองกัท ได้เดินผ่านพระพักตร์กษัตริย์ไป
18All his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.
19กษัตริย์จึงตรัสสั่งอิททัยคนกัทว่า "ทำไมเจ้าจึงไปกับเราด้วย จงกลับไปบ้านเมืองของเจ้าเถิดและไปอยู่กับกษัตริย์ เจ้าเป็นแต่คนต่างด้าว และถูกเนรเทศมาด้วย
19Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, “Why do you also go with us? Return, and stay with the king; for you are a foreigner, and also an exile. Return to your own place.
20เจ้าเพิ่งมาถึงเมื่อวานนี้ และวันนี้ควรที่เราจะให้เจ้าไปมากับเราหรือ ด้วยเราไม่ทราบว่าจะไปที่ไหน จงกลับไปเถิด พาพี่น้องของเจ้าไปด้วย ขอความเมตตาและความจริงจงมีกับเจ้าเถิด"
20Whereas you came but yesterday, should I this day make you go up and down with us, since I go where I may? Return, and take back your brothers. Mercy and truth be with you.”
21แต่อิททัยทูลตอบกษัตริย์ว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด และกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด กษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์เสด็จประทับที่ไหน จะสิ้นพระชนม์หรือทรงพระชนม์ ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ขอไปอยู่ที่นั้นด้วย"
21Ittai answered the king, and said, “As Yahweh lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in what place my lord the king shall is, whether for death or for life, even there also will your servant be.”
22ดาวิดก็รับสั่งกับอิททัยว่า "จงผ่านไปเถิด" อิททัยชาวเมืองกัทจึงผ่านไปพร้อมกับบรรดาพรรคพวกของเขาทั้งผู้ใหญ่และเด็ก
22David said to Ittai, “Go and pass over.” Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones who were with him.
23เมื่อพลทั้งหมดเดินผ่านไปเสีย ชาวเมืองนั้นทั้งสิ้นก็ร้องไห้เสียงดัง กษัตริย์ก็เสด็จข้ามลำธารขิดโรน และพลทั้งหมดก็ผ่านเข้าทางไปถิ่นทุรกันดาร
23All the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness.
24และดูเถิด ศาโดกก็มาด้วย พร้อมกับคนเลวีทั้งสิ้น หามหีบพันธสัญญาของพระเจ้ามา และเขาวางหีบของพระเจ้าลง ฝ่ายอาบียาธาร์ก็ขึ้นมาจนประชาชนออกจากเมืองไปหมด
24Behold, Zadok also came, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God; and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people finished passing out of the city.
25แล้วกษัตริย์ตรัสสั่งศาโดกว่า "จงหามหีบของพระเจ้ากลับเข้าไปในเมืองเถิด หากว่าเราเป็นที่โปรดปรานในสายพระเนตรพระเยโฮวาห์ พระองค์จะทรงโปรดนำเรากลับมาอีก และสำแดงให้ข้าพระองค์เห็นทั้งหีบนั้นกับที่ประทับของพระองค์ด้วย
25The king said to Zadok, “Carry back the ark of God into the city. If I find favor in the eyes of Yahweh, he will bring me again, and show me both it, and his habitation;
26แต่ถ้าพระองค์ตรัสว่า `เราไม่พอใจเจ้า' ดูเถิด เราอยู่ที่นี่ ขอพระองค์ทรงกระทำกับเราตามที่พระองค์ทรงโปรดเห็นชอบเถิด"
26but if he say thus, ‘I have no delight in you;’ behold, here am I. Let him do to me as seems good to him.”
27กษัตริย์ตรัสกับศาโดกปุโรหิตด้วยว่า "ท่านเป็นผู้ทำนายหรือ จงกลับเข้าไปในเมืองโดยสันติภาพ พร้อมกับบุตรชายทั้งสองของท่าน คืออาหิมาอัสบุตรของท่าน และโยนาธานบุตรของอาบียาธาร์
27The king said also to Zadok the priest, “Aren’t you a seer? Return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.
28ดูก่อนท่าน เราจะคอยอยู่ที่ที่ราบในถิ่นทุรกันดาร จนจะมีข่าวมาจากท่านให้เราทราบ"
28Behold, I will stay at the fords of the wilderness, until word comes from you to inform me.”
29ฝ่ายศาโดกกับอาบียาธาร์จึงหามหีบของพระเจ้ากลับไปยังกรุงเยรูซาเล็มและพักอยู่ที่นั่น
29Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem; and they stayed there.
30ฝ่ายดาวิดเสด็จขึ้นไปตามทางขึ้นภูเขามะกอกเทศ เสด็จพลางกันแสงพลาง คลุมพระเศียรเสด็จโดยพระบาทเปล่า และประชาชนทั้งสิ้นที่อยู่กับพระองค์ก็คลุมศีรษะเดินขึ้นไปพลางร้องไห้พลาง
30David went up by the ascent of the Mount of Olives, and wept as he went up; and he had his head covered, and went barefoot: and all the people who were with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.
31มีคนมากราบทูลดาวิดว่า "อาหิโธเฟลอยู่ในพวกคิดกบฏของอับซาโลมด้วย" ดาวิดกราบทูลว่า "ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ ขอทรงโปรดให้คำปรึกษาของอาหิโธเฟลโง่เง่าไป"
31Someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” David said, “Yahweh, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”
32อยู่มาเมื่อดาวิดมาถึงยอดภูเขาซึ่งเป็นที่นมัสการพระเจ้า ดูเถิด หุชัยชาวอารคีได้เข้ามาเฝ้า มีเสื้อผ้าฉีกขาดและดินอยู่บนศีรษะ
32It happened that when David had come to the top, where God was worshiped, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat torn, and earth on his head.
33ดาวิดตรัสกับเขาว่า "ถ้าเจ้าไปกับเรา เจ้าจะเป็นภาระแก่เรา
33David said to him, “If you pass on with me, then you will be a burden to me;
34แต่ถ้าเจ้ากลับเข้าไปในเมืองและกล่าวกับอับซาโลมว่า `ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ ข้าพระองค์ขอถวายตัวเป็นผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ ดังที่ข้าพระองค์เป็นผู้รับใช้ของพระราชบิดาของพระองค์มาแต่กาลก่อนฉันใด ข้าพระองค์ขอเป็นผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ฉันนั้น' แล้วเจ้าจะกระทำให้คำปรึกษาของอาหิโธเฟลพ่ายแพ้ไปเพื่อเห็นแก่เรา
34but if you return to the city, and tell Absalom, ‘I will be your servant, O king. As I have been your father’s servant in time past, so will I now be your servant; then will you defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel.’
35ศาโดกกับอาบียาธาร์ปุโรหิตก็อยู่กับเจ้าที่นั่นมิใช่หรือ สิ่งใดที่เจ้าได้ยินในพระราชวังจงบอกให้ศาโดกกับอาบียาธาร์ปุโรหิตทราบ
35Don’t you have Zadok and Abiathar the priests there with you? Therefore it shall be, that whatever thing you shall hear out of the king’s house, you shall tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.
36ดูเถิด บุตรชายสองคนของเขาก็อยู่ด้วย คืออาหิมาอัสบุตรศาโดก และโยนาธานบุตรอาบียาธาร์ ดังนั้นเมื่อท่านได้ยินเรื่องอะไรจงใช้เขามาบอกเราทุกเรื่องเถิด"
36Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz, Zadok’s son, and Jonathan, Abiathar’s son; and by them you shall send to me everything that you shall hear.”
37หุชัยสหายของดาวิดจึงกลับเข้าไปในเมือง และอับซาโลมกำลังเสด็จเข้ากรุงเยรูซาเล็ม
37So Hushai, David’s friend, came into the city; and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
