¹เขาไปเรียนโยอาบว่า "ดูเถิด กษัตริย์กันแสงและไว้ทุกข์เพื่ออับซาโลม"

¹It was told Joab, “Behold, the king weeps and mourns for Absalom.”

²เพราะฉะนั้นชัยชนะในวันนั้นก็กลายเป็นการไว้ทุกข์ของประชาชนทั้งหลาย เพราะในวันนั้นประชาชนได้ยินว่า กษัตริย์ทรงโทมนัสเพราะพระราชบุตรของพระองค์

²The victory that day was turned into mourning to all the people; for the people heard it said that day, “The king grieves for his son.”

³ในวันนั้นประชาชนได้แอบเข้ามาในเมืองอย่างกับคนหนีศึก แล้วอายแอบเข้ามา

³The people sneaked into the city that day, as people who are ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.

⁴กษัตริย์ทรงคลุมพระพักตร์ของพระองค์ และกษัตริย์กันแสงเสียงดังว่า "โอ อับซาโลมบุตรของเราเอ๋ย โอ อับซาโลมบุตรของเรา บุตรของเรา"

⁴The king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, “My son Absalom, Absalom, my son, my son!”

⁵โยอาบก็เข้ามาในพระราชวังทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "วันนี้พระองค์ได้ทรงกระทำให้ข้าราชการทั้งสิ้นของพระองค์ ผู้ซึ่งวันนี้ได้อารักขาพระชนม์ของพระองค์ ทั้งชีวิตของราชบุตรและราชธิดา และชีวิตของบรรดามเหสี และชีวิตของสนมทั้งหลายของพระองค์ให้เขาได้รับความละอาย

⁵Joab came into the house to the king, and said, “You have shamed this day the faces of all your servants, who this day have saved your life, and the lives of your sons and of your daughters, and the lives of your wives, and the lives of your concubines;

⁶เพราะว่าพระองค์ทรงรักศัตรูของพระองค์ และทรงเกลียดชังสหายของพระองค์ เพราะในวันนี้พระองค์ได้กระทำให้ประจักษ์แล้วว่า พระองค์ไม่ไยดีต่อนายทหารและบรรดาข้าราชการทั้งหลาย ในวันนี้ข้าพระองค์ทราบว่า ถ้าในวันนี้อับซาโลมยังมีชีวิตอยู่ และข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายก็ตายสิ้น พระองค์ก็จะพอพระทัย

⁶in that you love those who hate you, and hate those who love you. For you have declared this day, that princes and servants are nothing to you. For today I perceive that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it would have pleased you well.

⁷ขอพระองค์ทรงลุกขึ้น ณ บัดนี้ขอเสด็จออกไปตรัสให้ถึงใจข้าราชการทั้งหลาย เพราะข้าพระองค์ได้ปฏิญาณในพระนามพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า ถ้าพระองค์ไม่เสด็จจะไม่มีชายสักคนหนึ่งอยู่กับพระองค์ในคืนนี้ เรื่องนี้จะร้ายแรงยิ่งกว่าเหตุร้ายอื่นๆทั้งสิ้นซึ่งบังเกิดแก่พระองค์ตั้งแต่ยังทรงพระเยาว์จนบัดนี้"

⁷Now therefore arise, go out, and speak to comfort your servants; for I swear by Yahweh, if you don’t go out, not a man will stay with you this night. That would be worse to you than all the evil that has happened to you from your youth until now.”

⁸กษัตริย์ก็ทรงลุกขึ้นประทับที่ประตูเมือง เขาไปบอกประชาชนทั้งหลายว่า "ดูเถิด กษัตริย์ประทับอยู่ที่ประตูเมือง" ประชาชนทั้งหลายก็มาเฝ้ากษัตริย์ ฝ่ายอิสราเอลนั้นต่างคนต่างก็หนีไปยังเต็นท์ของตนหมดแล้ว

⁸Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. They told to all the people, saying, “Behold, the king is sitting in the gate.” All the people came before the king. Now Israel had fled every man to his tent.

⁹ประชาชนทั้งสิ้นก็หมางใจกันไปทั่วอิสราเอลทุกตระกูล กล่าวว่า "กษัตริย์เคยทรงช่วยเราให้พ้นจากมือศัตรูของเราและทรงช่วยเราให้พ้นจากมือคนฟีลิสเตีย บัดนี้พระองค์ทรงหนีอับซาโลมออกจากแผ่นดิน

⁹All the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “The king delivered us out of the hand of our enemies, and he saved us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he has fled out of the land from Absalom.

¹⁰แต่อับซาโลมผู้ที่เราเจิมตั้งไว้เหนือเรานั้นก็สิ้นชีวิตเสียแล้วในสงคราม บัดนี้ ทำไมเจ้าไม่พูดอะไรบ้างเลยในเรื่องที่จะเชิญกษัตริย์ให้เสด็จกลับ"

¹⁰Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why don’t you speak a word of bringing the king back?”

¹¹กษัตริย์ดาวิดทรงใช้คนไปหาศาโดกและอาบียาธาร์ปุโรหิต รับสั่งว่า "ขอบอกพวกผู้ใหญ่ของคนยูดาห์ว่า `ทำไมท่านทั้งหลายจึงเป็นคนสุดท้ายที่จะเชิญกษัตริย์กลับพระราชวังของพระองค์ เมื่อถ้อยคำเหล่านี้มาจากอิสราเอลทั้งหลายถึงกษัตริย์ คือถึงราชวงศ์ของพระองค์

¹¹King David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, “Speak to the elders of Judah, saying, ‘Why are you the last to bring the king back to his house? Since the speech of all Israel has come to the king, to return him to his house.

¹²ท่านทั้งหลายเป็นญาติของเรา เป็นกระดูกและเนื้อหนังของเรา ทำไมท่านจึงจะเป็นคนสุดท้ายที่จะเชิญกษัตริย์กลับ'

¹²You are my brothers, you are my bone and my flesh. Why then are you the last to bring back the king?’

¹³และจงบอกอามาสาว่า `ท่านมิได้เป็นกระดูกและเนื้อหนังของเราหรือ ถ้าท่านมิได้เป็นผู้บังคับบัญชากองทัพแทนโยอาบสืบต่อไป ขอพระเจ้าทรงลงโทษเรา และยิ่งหนักกว่านั้นอีก'"

¹³Say to Amasa, ‘Aren’t you my bone and my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if you aren’t captain of the army before me continually in the room of Joab.’”

¹⁴พระองค์ก็ได้ชักจูงจิตใจของบรรดาคนยูดาห์ดังกับเป็นจิตใจของชายคนเดียว พวกเขาจึงส่งคนไปทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "ขอพระองค์เสด็จกลับพร้อมกับบรรดาข้าราชการทั้งหมดด้วย"

¹⁴He bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as one man; so that they sent to the king, saying, “Return, you and all your servants.”

¹⁵กษัตริย์ก็เสด็จกลับและมายังแม่น้ำจอร์แดน และยูดาห์ก็พากันมาที่กิลกาลเพื่อรับเสด็จกษัตริย์และนำกษัตริย์เสด็จข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดน

¹⁵So the king returned, and came to the Jordan. Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to bring the king over the Jordan.

¹⁶ชิเมอี บุตรชายเก-รา คนเบนยามินผู้มาจากบาฮูริม รีบลงมาพร้อมกับคนยูดาห์เพื่อจะรับเสด็จกษัตริย์ดาวิด

¹⁶Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, who was of Bahurim, hurried and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.

¹⁷มีคนจากตระกูลเบนยามินพร้อมกับท่านหนึ่งพันคน และศิบามหาดเล็กในราชวงศ์ของซาอูล พร้อมกับบุตรชายสิบห้าคนกับคนใช้อีกยี่สิบคน ก็รีบมายังแม่น้ำจอร์แดนต่อพระพักตร์กษัตริย์

¹⁷There were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went through the Jordan in the presence of the king.

¹⁸เขาทั้งหลายได้ข้ามท่าข้ามไปรับราชวงศ์ของกษัตริย์ และคอยปฏิบัติให้ชอบพระทัย ชิเมอี บุตรชายเก-รา ได้กราบลงต่อพระพักตร์กษัตริย์ขณะที่พระองค์เสด็จข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดน

¹⁸A ferry boat went to bring over the king’s household, and to do what he thought good. Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, when he had come over the Jordan.

¹⁹กราบทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "ขอเจ้านายของข้าพระองค์อย่าทรงถือโทษความชั่วช้าข้าพระองค์ และทรงจดจำความผิดที่ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ได้กระทำในวันที่กษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์สละกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม ขอกษัตริย์อย่าทรงจดจำไว้ในพระทัย

¹⁹He said to the king, “Don’t let my lord impute iniquity to me, nor remember that which your servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

²⁰ด้วยผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ได้ทราบแล้วว่าได้กระทำบาป เพราะฉะนั้น ดูเถิด ในวันนี้ข้าพระองค์ได้มาเป็นคนแรกในวงศ์วานโยเซฟที่ลงมารับเสด็จกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์"

²⁰For your servant knows that I have sinned. Therefore behold, I have come this day the first of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.”

²¹อาบีชัยบุตรชายนางเศรุยาห์จึงตอบว่า "ที่ชิเมอีกระทำเช่นนี้ไม่ควรจะถึงที่ตายดอกหรือ เพราะเขาได้ด่าผู้ที่เจิมตั้งของพระเยโฮวาห์"

²¹But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered, “Shall Shimei not be put to death for this, because he cursed Yahweh’s anointed?”

²²แต่ดาวิดตรัสว่า "บุตรทั้งสองของนางเศรุยาห์เอ๋ย เรามีธุระอะไรกับท่าน ซึ่งในวันนี้ท่านจะมาเป็นปฏิปักษ์กับเรา ในวันนี้น่ะควรที่จะให้ใครมีโทษถึงตายในอิสราเอลหรือ ในวันนี้เราไม่ทราบดอกหรือว่า เราเป็นกษัตริย์ครอบครองอิสราเอล"

²²David said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should this day be adversaries to me? Shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? For don’t I know that I am this day king over Israel?”

²³และกษัตริย์ตรัสกับชิเมอีว่า "เจ้าจะไม่ถึงตาย" แล้วกษัตริย์ก็ประทานคำปฏิญาณแก่เขา

²³The king said to Shimei, “You shall not die.” The king swore to him.

²⁴เมฟีโบเชท โอรสซาอูลก็ลงมารับเสด็จกษัตริย์ โดยมิได้แต่งเท้าหรือขลิบเครา หรือซักเสื้อผ้าของตนตั้งแต่วันที่กษัตริย์เสด็จจากไปจนวันที่เสด็จกลับมาโดยสันติภาพ

²⁴Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king; and he had neither groomed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home in peace.

²⁵อยู่มาเมื่อเมฟีโบเชทมายังกรุงเยรูซาเล็มเพื่อจะรับเสด็จกษัตริย์ กษัตริย์ตรัสถามว่า "เมฟีโบเชท ทำไมท่านมิได้ไปกับเรา"

²⁵It happened, when he had come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said to him, “Why didn’t you go with me, Mephibosheth?”

²⁶ท่านทูลตอบว่า "ข้าแต่กษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ มหาดเล็กของข้าพระองค์หลอกลวงข้าพระองค์ เพราะผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์บอกเขาว่า `ข้าจะผูกอานลาตัวหนึ่งเพื่อข้าจะได้ขี่ไปตามเสด็จกษัตริย์' เพราะว่าผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์เป็นง่อย

²⁶He answered, “My lord, O king, my servant deceived me. For your servant said, I will saddle me a donkey, that I may ride thereon, and go with the king; because your servant is lame.

²⁷เขากลับไปทูลกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ใส่ร้ายผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ แต่กษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์เหมือนทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งของพระเจ้า เมื่อพระองค์ทรงเห็นสมควรจะกระทำประการใด ก็ขอทรงกระทำเถิด พ่ะย่ะค่ะ

²⁷He has slandered your servant to my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God. Do therefore what is good in your eyes.

²⁸เพราะว่าวงศ์วานราชบิดาของข้าพระองค์ทั้งสิ้นก็สมควรถึงตายต่อพระพักตร์กษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ แต่พระองค์ก็ทรงแต่งตั้งผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ไว้ในหมู่ผู้ที่รับประทานร่วมโต๊ะเสวยของพระองค์ ข้าพระองค์จะมีสิทธิประการใดเล่าที่จะร้องทูลอีกต่อกษัตริย์"

²⁸For all my father’s house were but dead men before my lord the king; yet you set your servant among those who ate at your own table. What right therefore have I yet that I should cry any more to the king?”

²⁹กษัตริย์จึงตรัสกับท่านว่า "ท่านจะพูดเรื่องธุรกิจของท่านต่อไปทำไม เราตัดสินใจว่า ท่านกับศิบาจงแบ่งที่ดินกัน"

²⁹The king said to him, “Why do you speak any more of your matters? I say, you and Ziba divide the land.”

³⁰เมฟีโบเชทกราบทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "เมื่อกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ได้เสด็จกลับสู่พระราชสำนักโดยสันติภาพเช่นนี้แล้ว ก็ให้ศิบารับไปหมดเถิด พ่ะย่ะค่ะ"

³⁰Mephibosheth said to the king, “Yes, let him take all, because my lord the king has come in peace to his own house.”

³¹ฝ่ายบารซิลลัย ชาวกิเลอาด ได้ลงมาจากโรเกลิม และไปกับกษัตริย์ข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดน เพื่อส่งพระองค์ข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดนไป

³¹Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim; and he went over the Jordan with the king, to conduct him over the Jordan.

³²บารซิลลัยเป็นคนชรามากแล้ว อายุแปดสิบปี ท่านได้นำเสบียงอาหารมาถวายกษัตริย์ ขณะพระองค์ประทับที่มาหะนาอิม เพราะท่านเป็นคนมั่งมีมาก

³²Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even eighty years old: and he had provided the king with sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.

³³กษัตริย์จึงตรัสกับบารซิลลัยว่า "ข้ามมาอยู่กับเราเสียเถิด เราจะชุบเลี้ยงท่านให้อยู่กับเราที่กรุงเยรูซาเล็ม"

³³The king said to Barzillai, “Come over with me, and I will sustain you with me in Jerusalem.”

³⁴แต่บารซิลลัยทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "ข้าพระองค์จะอยู่ต่อไปได้อีกกี่ปี ที่ข้าพระองค์จะไปอยู่กับกษัตริย์ที่กรุงเยรูซาเล็ม

³⁴Barzillai said to the king, “How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?

³⁵วันนี้ข้าพระองค์มีอายุแปดสิบปีแล้ว ข้าพระองค์จะสังเกตว่าอะไรเป็นที่พอใจและไม่พอใจได้หรือ ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์จะลิ้มรสอร่อยของสิ่งที่กินและดื่มได้หรือ ข้าพระองค์จะฟังเสียงชายหญิงร้องเพลงได้หรือ ทำไมจะให้ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์เป็นภาระเพิ่มแก่กษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์อีกเล่า

³⁵I am this day eighty years old. Can I discern between good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be yet a burden to my lord the king?

³⁶ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์จะตามเสด็จกษัตริย์ข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดนไปหน่อยเท่านั้น ไฉนกษัตริย์จะพระราชทานรางวัลเช่นนี้เล่า

³⁶Your servant would but just go over the Jordan with the king. Why should the king repay me with such a reward?

³⁷ขอให้ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์กลับเพื่อไปตายที่ในเมืองของข้าพระองค์ และถูกฝังข้างๆที่ฝังศพของบิดามารดาของข้าพระองค์ ดูเถิด ขอทรงโปรดให้คิมฮามผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ตามเสด็จกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ไป พระองค์จะโปรดเขาประการใดก็แล้วแต่ทรงเห็นควร"

³⁷Please let your servant turn back again, that I may die in my own city, by the grave of my father and my mother. But behold, your servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good to you.”

³⁸กษัตริย์ตรัสตอบว่า "คิมฮามจงข้ามไปกับเรา เราจะกระทำคุณแก่เขาตามที่ท่านเห็นควร สิ่งใดที่ท่านปรารถนาให้เรากระทำแก่ท่าน เรายินดีกระทำตาม"

³⁸The king answered, “Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good to you. Whatever you require of me, that I will do for you.”

³⁹แล้วประชาชนทั้งสิ้นก็ข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดน เมื่อกษัตริย์เสด็จข้ามไปแล้วกษัตริย์ทรงจุบบารซิลลัย และทรงอวยพระพรแก่ท่าน ท่านก็กลับไปยังบ้านช่องของตน

³⁹All the people went over the Jordan, and the king went over. Then the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned to his own place.

⁴⁰กษัตริย์เสด็จไปยังกิลกาล และคิมฮามก็ข้ามตามเสด็จไปด้วย ประชาชนยูดาห์ทั้งหมดกับประชาชนอิสราเอลครึ่งหนึ่งได้นำกษัตริย์ข้ามมา

⁴⁰So the king went over to Gilgal, and Chimham went over with him. All the people of Judah brought the king over, and also half the people of Israel.

⁴¹แล้วดูเถิด คนอิสราเอลทั้งหมดมาเฝ้ากษัตริย์ กราลทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "ไฉนคนยูดาห์พี่น้องของเราจึงได้ลักพาพระองค์ไปเสีย พากษัตริย์และราชวงศ์ข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดนไปพร้อมกับบรรดาคนของดาวิดด้วย"

⁴¹Behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said to the king, “Why have our brothers the men of Judah stolen you away, and brought the king, and his household, over the Jordan, and all David’s men with him?”

⁴²ประชาชนยูดาห์ทั้งสิ้นจึงตอบประชาชนอิสราเอลว่า "เพราะกษัตริย์เป็นญาติสนิทกับเราท่านทั้งหลาย จะโกรธด้วยเรื่องนี้ทำไมเล่า เราได้อยู่กินสิ้นเปลืองพระราชทรัพย์ของกษัตริย์หรือ พระองค์ได้ให้รางวัลอะไรแก่เราหรือ"

⁴²All the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, “Because the king is a close relative to us. Why then are you angry about this matter? Have we eaten at all at the king’s cost? Or has he given us any gift?”

⁴³คนอิสราเอลก็ตอบคนยูดาห์ว่า "เรามีส่วนในกษัตริย์สิบส่วน และในดาวิดเราก็มีสิทธิมากกว่าท่าน ทำไมท่านจึงดูถูกเราเช่นนี้เล่า เราไม่ได้เป็นพวกแรกที่พูดเรื่องการนำกษัตริย์กลับดอกหรือ" แต่ถ้อยคำของคนยูดาห์รุนแรงกว่าถ้อยคำของคนอิสราเอล

⁴³The men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, “We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more claim to David than you. Why then did you despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king?” The words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
