1ดาวิดรับสั่งว่า "วงศ์วานของซาอูลนั้นมีเหลืออยู่บ้างหรือ เพื่อเราจะสำแดงความเมตตาแก่ผู้นั้นโดยเห็นแก่โยนาธาน"
1David said, “Is there yet any who is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
2มีมหาดเล็กในวงศ์วานซาอูลคนหนึ่งชื่อศิบา เขาก็เรียกให้มาเฝ้าดาวิดและกษัตริย์ตรัสกับเขาว่า "เจ้าคือศิบาหรือ" เขาทูลตอบว่า "ข้าพระองค์คือศิบา พ่ะย่ะค่ะ"
2There was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba, and they called him to David; and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” He said, “Your servant is he.”
3กษัตริย์จึงตรัสว่า "ไม่มีใครในวงศ์วานซาอูลยังเหลืออยู่บ้างหรือ เพื่อเราจะได้แสดงความเมตตาของพระเจ้าต่อเขา" ศิบากราบทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "ยังมีโอรสของโยนาธานเหลืออยู่คนหนึ่ง เท้าของเขาเป็นง่อยพ่ะย่ะค่ะ"
3The king said, “Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may show the kindness of God to him?” Ziba said to the king, “Jonathan has yet a son, who is lame of his feet.”

4The king said to him, “Where is he?” Ziba said to the king, “Behold, he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo Debar.”
5แล้วกษัตริย์ดาวิดรับสั่งให้คนไปนำเขามาจากเรือนของมาคีร์บุตรชายอัมมีเอลที่โลเดบาร์
5Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.
6เมฟีโบเชทโอรสของโยนาธานราชโอรสของซาอูลได้มาเฝ้าดาวิดและซบหน้าลงกราบถวายบังคม และดาวิดตรัสว่า "เมฟีโบเชทเอ๋ย" เขาทูลตอบว่า "ดูเถิด ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์"
6Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, and fell on his face, and showed respect. David said, “Mephibosheth.” He answered, “Behold, your servant!”
7และดาวิดตรัสกับท่านว่า "อย่ากลัวเลย เพราะเราจะสำแดงความเมตตาต่อท่านเพื่อเห็นแก่โยนาธานบิดาของท่าน และเราจะมอบที่ดินทั้งหมดของซาอูลราชบิดาของท่านคืนแก่ท่าน และท่านจงรับประทานอาหารอยู่ที่โต๊ะของเราเสมอไป"
7David said to him, “Don’t be afraid of him; for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your father. You shall eat bread at my table continually.”
8และท่านก็กราบถวายบังคมและทูลว่า "ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์เป็นผู้ใดเล่า ซึ่งพระองค์จะทอดพระเนตรสุนัขตายอย่างข้าพระองค์นี้"
8He bowed down, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look on such a dead dog as I am?”
9แล้วกษัตริย์ตรัสเรียกศิบามหาดเล็กของซาอูล และตรัสแก่เขาว่า "บรรดาสิ่งของที่เป็นของซาอูลและของวงศ์วานทั้งสิ้นของท่าน เราได้มอบให้แก่โอรสเจ้านายของเจ้าแล้ว
9Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, “All that pertained to Saul and to all his house have I given to your master’s son.
10ตัวเจ้าและพวกบุตรชายของเจ้าและเหล่าคนใช้ของเจ้า ต้องทำนาให้เขา และนำผลพืชที่ได้นั้นเข้ามา เพื่อโอรสแห่งเจ้านายของเจ้าจะได้มีอาหารรับประทาน แต่เมฟีโบเชทโอรสแห่งเจ้านายของเจ้านั้น จะรับประทานอาหารที่โต๊ะของเราเสมอไป" ฝ่ายศิบามีบุตรชายสิบห้าคนกับคนใช้ยี่สิบคน
10You shall till the land for him, you, and your sons, and your servants; and you shall bring in the harvest, that your master’s son may have bread to eat: but Mephibosheth your master’s son shall eat bread always at my table.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11แล้วศิบาจึงกราบทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "ตามที่กษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์บัญชาผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์นั้น ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์จะกระทำ" กษัตริย์ได้ตรัสว่า "เมฟีโบเชทจงรับประทานที่โต๊ะเสวยของเรา อย่างกับเป็นโอรสของกษัตริย์"
11Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so your shall servant do.” So Mephibosheth ate at the king’s table, like one of the king’s sons.

12Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. All that lived in the house of Ziba were servants to Mephibosheth.
13ดังนั้นเมฟีโบเชทจึงอยู่ในเยรูซาเล็ม เพราะท่านรับประทานที่โต๊ะของกษัตริย์เสมอ เท้าของท่านเป็นง่อยทั้งสองข้าง
13So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem; for he ate continually at the king’s table. He was lame in both his feet.
