¹ข้าแต่ท่านเธโอฟีลัส ในหนังสือเรื่องแรกนั้น ข้าพเจ้าได้กล่าวแล้วถึงบรรดาการซึ่งพระเยซูได้ทรงตั้งต้นกระทำและสั่งสอน

¹The first book I wrote, Theophilus, concerned all that Jesus began both to do and to teach,

²จนถึงวันที่พระองค์ทรงถูกรับขึ้นไป ในเมื่อได้ตรัสสั่งโดยเดชพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์แก่อัครสาวก ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงเลือกไว้นั้นแล้ว

²until the day in which he was received up, after he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.

³ครั้นพระองค์ทรงทนทุกข์ทรมานแล้ว ได้ทรงแสดงพระองค์แก่คนพวกนั้น ด้วยหลักฐานหลายอย่าง พิสูจน์ว่าพระองค์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่ และได้ทรงปรากฏแก่เขาทั้งหลายถึงสี่สิบวัน และได้ทรงกล่าวถึงเรื่องอาณาจักรของพระเจ้า

³To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking about God’s Kingdom.

⁴เมื่อพระองค์ได้ทรงชุมนุมกันกับอัครสาวก จึงกำชับเขามิให้ออกไปจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม แต่ให้คอยรับตามพระสัญญาของพระบิดา คือพระองค์ตรัสว่า "ตามที่ท่านทั้งหลายได้ยินจากเรานั่นแหละ

⁴Being assembled together with them, he commanded them, “Don’t depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.

⁵เพราะว่ายอห์นให้รับบัพติศมาด้วยน้ำก็จริง แต่ไม่ช้าไม่นานท่านทั้งหลายจะรับบัพติศมาด้วยพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์"

⁵ For John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

⁶เมื่อเขาทั้งหลายได้ประชุมพร้อมกัน เขาจึงทูลถามพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า พระองค์จะทรงตั้งราชอาณาจักรขึ้นใหม่ให้แก่อิสราเอลในครั้งนี้หรือ"

⁶Therefore when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel?”

⁷พระองค์ตรัสตอบเขาว่า "ไม่ใช่ธุระของท่านที่จะรู้เวลาและวาระซึ่งพระบิดาได้ทรงกำหนดไว้โดยสิทธิอำนาจของพระองค์

⁷He said to them, “It isn’t for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority.

⁸แต่ท่านทั้งหลายจะได้รับพระราชทานฤทธิ์เดช เมื่อพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์จะเสด็จมาเหนือท่าน และท่านทั้งหลายจะเป็นพยานฝ่ายเราทั้งในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม ทั่วแคว้นยูเดีย แคว้นสะมาเรีย และจนถึงที่สุดปลายแผ่นดินโลก"

⁸ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.”

⁹เมื่อพระองค์ตรัสเช่นนั้นแล้ว ในขณะที่เขาทั้งหลายกำลังพินิจดู พระองค์ก็ถูกรับขึ้นไป และมีเมฆคลุมพระองค์ให้พ้นสายตาของเขา

⁹When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.

¹⁰เมื่อเขากำลังเขม้นดูฟ้าเวลาที่พระองค์เสด็จขึ้นไปนั้น ดูเถิด มีชายสองคนสวมเสื้อขาวมายืนอยู่ข้างๆเขา

¹⁰While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing,

¹¹สองคนนั้นกล่าวว่า "ชาวกาลิลีเอ๋ย เหตุไฉนท่านจึงยืนเขม้นดูฟ้าสวรรค์ พระเยซูองค์นี้ซึ่งทรงรับไปจากท่านขึ้นไปยังสวรรค์นั้น จะเสด็จมาอีกเหมือนอย่างที่ท่านทั้งหลายได้เห็นพระองค์เสด็จไปยังสวรรค์นั้น"

¹¹who also said, “You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky.”

¹²แล้วอัครสาวกจึงลงจากภูเขามะกอกเทศ ซึ่งอยู่ใกล้กรุงเยรูซาเล็มระยะทางเท่ากับระยะที่อนุญาตให้คนเดินในวันสะบาโต กลับไปกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม

¹²Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.

¹³เมื่อเข้ากรุงแล้วเขาเหล่านั้นจึงขึ้นไปยังห้องชั้นบน ซึ่งมีทั้งเปโตร ยากอบ ยอห์นกับอันดรูว์ ฟีลิปกับโธมัส บารโธโลมิวกับมัทธิว ยากอบบุตรชายอัลเฟอัส ซีโมนเศโลเท กับยูดาสน้องชายของยากอบ พักอยู่นั้น

¹³When they had come in, they went up into the upper room, where they were staying; that is Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.

¹⁴พวกเขาร่วมใจกันอธิษฐานอ้อนวอนต่อเนื่องพร้อมกับพวกผู้หญิง และมารีย์มารดาของพระเยซูและพวกน้องชายของพระองค์ด้วย

¹⁴All these with one accord continued steadfastly in prayer and supplication, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

¹⁵คราวนั้นเปโตรจึงได้ยืนขึ้นท่ามกลางเหล่าสาวก (ที่ประชุมกันอยู่นั้นมีรวมทั้งสิ้นประมาณร้อยยี่สิบชื่อ) และกล่าวว่า

¹⁵In these days, Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (and the number of names was about one hundred twenty), and said,

¹⁶"พี่น้องทั้งหลาย จำเป็นจะต้องสำเร็จตามพระคัมภีร์ ซึ่งพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ได้ตรัสไว้โดยโอษฐ์ของดาวิด ด้วยเรื่องยูดาส ซึ่งเป็นผู้นำทางคนที่ไปจับพระเยซู

¹⁶“Brothers, it was necessary that this Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to those who took Jesus.

¹⁷เพราะยูดาสนั้นได้นับเข้าในพวกเรา และได้รับส่วนในภารกิจนี้

¹⁷For he was numbered with us, and received his portion in this ministry.

¹⁸ฝ่ายผู้นี้ได้เอาบำเหน็จแห่งการชั่วช้าของตนไปซื้อที่ดิน แล้วก็ล้มคะมำลงแตกกลางตัวไส้พุงทะลักออกมาหมด

¹⁸Now this man obtained a field with the reward for his wickedness, and falling headlong, his body burst open, and all his intestines gushed out.

¹⁹เหตุการณ์นี้คนทั้งปวงที่อยู่ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มก็รู้ เขาจึงเรียกที่ดินแปลงนั้นตามภาษาของเขาว่า อาเคลดามา คือนาเลือด

¹⁹It became known to everyone who lived in Jerusalem that in their language that field was called ‘Akeldama,’ that is, ‘The field of blood.’

²⁰ด้วยมีคำเขียนไว้ในหนังสือสดุดีว่า `ขอให้ที่อาศัยของเขารกร้างและอย่าให้ผู้ใดอาศัยอยู่ที่นั่น' และ `ขอให้อีกผู้หนึ่งมายึดตำแหน่งผู้ปกครองดูแลของเขา'

²⁰For it is written in the book of Psalms, ‘Let his habitation be made desolate. Let no one dwell therein;’ Psalm 69:25 and, ‘Let another take his office.’ Psalm 109:8

²¹เหตุฉะนั้นในบรรดาชายเหล่านี้ที่เป็นพวกเดียวกับเราเสมอตลอดเวลาที่พระเยซูเจ้าได้เสด็จเข้าออกกับเรา

²¹“Of the men therefore who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

²²คือตั้งแต่บัพติศมาของยอห์น จนถึงวันที่พระองค์ทรงถูกรับขึ้นไปจากเรา คนหนึ่งในพวกนี้จะต้องตั้งไว้ให้เป็นพยานกับเราถึงการคืนพระชนม์ของพระองค์"

²²beginning from the baptism of John, to the day that he was received up from us, of these one must become a witness with us of his resurrection.”

²³เขาทั้งหลายจึงเสนอชื่อคนสองคน คือโยเซฟที่เรียกว่าบารซับบาส มีนามสกุลว่ายุสทัส และมัทธีอัส

²³They put forward two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

²⁴แล้วพวกสาวกจึงอธิษฐานว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า ผู้ทรงทราบใจของมนุษย์ทั้งปวง ขอทรงสำแดงว่าในสองคนนี้พระองค์ทรงเลือกคนไหน

²⁴They prayed, and said, “You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two you have chosen

²⁵ให้รับส่วนในการปรนนิบัตินี้ และรับตำแหน่งเป็นอัครสาวกแทนยูดาส ซึ่งโดยการละเมิดนั้นได้หลงจากหน้าที่ไปยังที่ของตน"

²⁵to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place.”

²⁶เขาทั้งหลายจึงจับสลากกัน และสลากนั้นได้แก่มัทธีอัสจึงนับเขาเข้ากับอัครสาวกสิบเอ็ดคนนั้น

²⁶They drew lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
