¹After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth.

²ท่านได้พบยิวคนหนึ่งชื่ออาควิลลา ซึ่งเกิดในแคว้นปอนทัส แต่พึ่งมาจากประเทศอิตาลีกับภรรยาชื่อปริสสิลลา (เพราะคลาวดิอัสมีรับสั่งให้พวกยิวทั้งปวงออกไปจากกรุงโรม) เปาโลจึงไปหาคนทั้งสองนั้น

²He found a certain Jew named Aquila, a man of Pontus by race, who had recently come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome. He came to them,

³และเพราะเขามีอาชีพอย่างเดียวกันจึงได้อาศัยทำการอยู่กับเขา (เพราะว่าทั้งสองฝ่ายเป็นช่างทำเต็นท์ด้วยกัน)

³and because he practiced the same trade, he lived with them and worked, for by trade they were tent makers.

⁴เปาโลได้โต้เถียงในธรรมศาลาทุกวันสะบาโต ได้ชักชวนทั้งพวกยิวและพวกกรีก

⁴He reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded Jews and Greeks.

⁵พอสิลาสกับทิโมธีมาจากแคว้นมาซิโดเนีย เปาโลก็ได้รับการดลใจ และเป็นพยานแก่พวกยิวว่าพระเยซูเป็นพระคริสต์

⁵But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.

⁶When they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook out his clothing and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on, I will go to the Gentiles!”

⁷ท่านจึงออกจากที่นั่น แล้วเข้าไปในบ้านของชายคนหนึ่งชื่อยุสทัส ซึ่งเป็นผู้นมัสการพระเจ้า บ้านของเขาอยู่ติดกับธรรมศาลา

⁷He departed there, and went into the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.

⁸ฝ่ายคริสปัสนายธรรมศาลากับทั้งครัวเรือนของท่านได้เชื่อในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า และชาวโครินธ์หลายคนเมื่อได้ฟังแล้วก็ได้เชื่อถือและรับบัพติศมา

⁸Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house. Many of the Corinthians, when they heard, believed and were baptized.

⁹และองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าได้ตรัสกับเปาโลทางนิมิตในคืนวันหนึ่งว่า "อย่ากลัวเลย แต่จงกล่าวต่อไป อย่านิ่งเสีย

⁹The Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, “Don’t be afraid, but speak and don’t be silent;

¹⁰เพราะว่าเราอยู่กับเจ้าและจะไม่มีผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดอาจต่อสู้ทำร้ายเจ้า ด้วยว่าคนของเราในนครนี้มีมาก"

¹⁰ for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city.”

¹¹เปาโลจึงยับยั้งอยู่กับเขาและสั่งสอนพระวจนะของพระเจ้าตลอดหนึ่งปีกับหกเดือน

¹¹He lived there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

¹²แต่คราวเมื่อกัลลิโอเป็นผู้สำเร็จราชการแคว้นอาคายา พวกยิวได้ฮือกันขึ้นต่อสู้เปาโล และพาท่านไปบัลลังก์พิพากษา

¹²But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat,

¹³ฟ้องว่า "คนนี้ชักชวนคนทั้งหลายให้นมัสการพระเจ้าตามทางที่ผิดกฎหมาย"

¹³saying, “This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.”

¹⁴เมื่อเปาโลจะอ้าปากพูด กัลลิโอก็กล่าวแก่พวกยิวว่า "โอ พวกยิว ถ้าเป็นเรื่องความชั่วหรือเป็นเรื่องอาชญากรรม สมควรเราจะฟังท่านทั้งหลาย

¹⁴But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If indeed it were a matter of wrong or of wicked crime, you Jews, it would be reasonable that I should bear with you;

¹⁵แต่เมื่อเป็นการโต้แย้งกันถึงเรื่องถ้อยคำกับชื่อและพระราชบัญญัติของพวกท่านแล้ว ท่านทั้งหลายจงวินิจฉัยกันเอาเองเถิด เราไม่อยากเป็นผู้พิพากษาตัดสินข้อความเหล่านั้น"

¹⁵but if they are questions about words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves. For I don’t want to be a judge of these matters.”

¹⁶ท่านจึงไล่พวกนั้นไปจากบัลลังก์พิพากษา

¹⁶He drove them from the judgment seat.

¹⁷บรรดาชาติกรีกจึงจับโสสเธเนสนายธรรมศาลา มาเฆี่ยนข้างหน้าบัลลังก์พิพากษา แต่กัลลิโอไม่เอาธุระเลย

¹⁷Then all the Greeks laid hold on Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. Gallio didn’t care about any of these things.

¹⁸ต่อมาเปาโลได้พักอยู่ที่นั่นอีกหลายวัน แล้วท่านจึงลาพวกพี่น้องแล่นเรือไปยังแคว้นซีเรีย และปริสสิลลากับอาควิลลาก็ไปด้วย เปาโลได้โกนศีรษะที่เมืองเคนเครีย เพราะท่านได้ปฏิญาณตัวไว้

¹⁸Paul, having stayed after this many more days, took his leave of the brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where the context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” and sailed from there for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had a vow.

¹⁹ครั้นมายังเมืองเอเฟซัส เปาโลได้ละปริสสิลลากับอาควิลลาไว้ที่นั่น แต่ท่านเองได้เข้าไปโต้เถียงกับพวกยิวในธรรมศาลา

¹⁹He came to Ephesus, and he left them there; but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

²⁰เมื่อคนเหล่านั้นขอให้ท่านอยู่กับเขาต่อไป ท่านก็ไม่ยอม

²⁰When they asked him to stay with them a longer time, he declined;

²¹แต่ได้ลาเขาไปกล่าวว่า "ข้าพเจ้าจะพยายามรักษาเทศกาลเลี้ยงที่จะถึงในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มโดยทุกวิถีทาง แต่ถ้าเป็นที่ชอบพระทัยพระเจ้า ข้าพเจ้าจะกลับมาหาท่านทั้งหลายอีก" แล้วเปาโลได้ลงเรือแล่นออกจากเมืองเอเฟซัส

²¹but taking his leave of them, and saying, “I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem, but I will return again to you if God wills,” he set sail from Ephesus.

²²ครั้นมาถึงเมืองซีซารียา ท่านได้ขึ้นไปคำนับคริสตจักรแล้วลงไปยังเมืองอันทิโอก

²²When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the assembly, and went down to Antioch.

²³ครั้นยับยั้งอยู่ที่นั่นหน่อยหนึ่ง ท่านจึงไปตลอดแว่นแคว้นกาลาเทียและฟรีเจียตามลำดับกันไปเรื่อยๆ เพื่อจะช่วยชูกำลังพวกสาวก

²³Having spent some time there, he departed, and went through the region of Galatia, and Phrygia, in order, establishing all the disciples.

²⁴มียิวคนหนึ่งชื่ออปอลโล เกิดในเมืองอเล็กซานเดรีย เป็นคนมีโวหารดี และชำนาญมากในทางพระคัมภีร์ ท่านมายังเมืองเอเฟซัส

²⁴Now a certain Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by race, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus. He was mighty in the Scriptures.

²⁵อปอลโลคนนี้ได้รับการอบรมในทางขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า และมีใจร้อนรนกล่าวสั่งสอนโดยละเอียดถึงเรื่ององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า ถึงแม้ว่าท่านรู้แต่เพียงบัพติศมาของยอห์นเท่านั้น

²⁵This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John.

²⁶ท่านได้ตั้งต้นสั่งสอนโดยใจกล้าในธรรมศาลา แต่เมื่ออาควิลลากับปริสสิลลาได้ฟังท่านแล้ว เขาจึงรับท่านมาสั่งสอนให้รู้ทางของพระเจ้าให้ถูกต้องยิ่งขึ้น

²⁶He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside, and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

²⁷ครั้นอปอลโลจะใคร่ไปยังแคว้นอาคายา พวกพี่น้องก็เขียนจดหมายฝากไปถึงสาวกที่นั่นให้เขารับรองท่านไว้ ครั้นท่านไปถึงแล้ว ท่านได้ช่วยเหลือคนทั้งหลายที่ได้เชื่อโดยพระคุณนั้นอย่างมากมาย

²⁷When he had determined to pass over into Achaia, the brothers encouraged him, and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he had come, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;

²⁸เพราะท่านโต้แย้งกับพวกยิวอย่างแข็งแรงต่อหน้าคนทั้งปวง และชี้แจงยกหลักในพระคัมภีร์อ้างให้เห็นว่า พระเยซูคือพระคริสต์

²⁸for he powerfully refuted the Jews, publicly showing by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.
