¹ฝ่ายอากริปปาจึงตรัสกับเปาโลว่า "เราอนุญาตให้เจ้าให้การแก้ข้อหาเองได้" เปาโลจึงยื่นมือออกกล่าวแก้คดีว่า

¹Agrippa said to Paul, “You may speak for yourself.” Then Paul stretched out his hand, and made his defense.

²"ท่านกษัตริย์อากริปปาเจ้าข้า ข้าพระองค์ถือว่าเป็นโอกาสดีที่ได้แก้คดีต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์วันนี้ ในเรื่องข้อคดีทั้งปวงซึ่งพวกยิวกล่าวหาข้าพระองค์นั้น

²“I think myself happy, King Agrippa, that I am to make my defense before you this day concerning all the things that I am accused by the Jews,

³โดยเฉพาะเพราะพระองค์มีความรู้ชำนาญยิ่งในบรรดาขนบธรรมเนียมและปัญหาต่างๆของพวกยิวแล้ว เหตุฉะนั้นขอพระองค์ได้โปรดทนฟังข้าพระองค์

³especially because you are expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews. Therefore I beg you to hear me patiently.

⁴พวกยิวทั้งหลายก็รู้จักความเป็นอยู่ของข้าพระองค์ตั้งแต่เป็นเด็กมาแล้ว คือตั้งแต่แรกข้าพระองค์ได้อยู่ท่ามกลางชนชาติของข้าพระองค์ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม

⁴“Indeed, all the Jews know my way of life from my youth up, which was from the beginning among my own nation and at Jerusalem;

⁵เขารู้จักข้าพระองค์แต่เดิมมา ถ้าเขาจะยอมเป็นพยานก็เป็นได้ว่าข้าพระองค์ดำรงชีวิตตามพวกที่ถือเคร่งครัดที่สุด คือเป็นพวกฟาริสี

⁵having known me from the first, if they are willing to testify, that after the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

⁶บัดนี้ข้าพระองค์ต้องมายืนให้พิจารณาพิพากษา ก็เนื่องด้วยเรื่องมีความหวังใจในพระสัญญาซึ่งพระเจ้าได้ตรัสแก่บรรพบุรุษของพวกข้าพระองค์นั้น

⁶Now I stand here to be judged for the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers,

⁷พวกข้าพระองค์สิบสองตระกูลได้อุตส่าห์ปรนนิบัติพระเจ้าทั้งกลางวันกลางคืน ด้วยหวังใจว่าจะบรรลุถึงความสำเร็จตามพระสัญญานั้น ข้าแต่กษัตริย์อากริปปา เพราะความหวังใจอันนี้พวกยิวจึงฟ้องข้าพระองค์

⁷which our twelve tribes, earnestly serving night and day, hope to attain. Concerning this hope I am accused by the Jews, King Agrippa!

⁸เหตุไฉนท่านทั้งหลายจึงพากันถือว่า การที่พระเจ้าจะทรงให้คนตายเป็นขึ้นมาเป็นการที่เชื่อไม่ได้

⁸Why is it judged incredible with you, if God does raise the dead?

⁹ข้าพระองค์เคยได้คิดในใจของตนเองว่า สมควรจะทำหลายสิ่งซึ่งขัดขวางพระนามของพระเยซูชาวนาซาเร็ธนั้น

⁹“I myself most certainly thought that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

¹⁰สิ่งเหล่านั้นข้าพระองค์ได้กระทำในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม เมื่อข้าพระองค์รับอำนาจจากพวกปุโรหิตใหญ่แล้ว ข้าพระองค์ได้ขังวิสุทธิชนหลายคนไว้ในคุก และครั้นเขาถูกลงโทษถึงตาย ข้าพระองค์ก็เห็นดีด้วย

¹⁰This I also did in Jerusalem. I both shut up many of the saints in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests, and when they were put to death I gave my vote against them.

¹¹ข้าพระองค์ได้ทำโทษเขาบ่อยๆในธรรมศาลาทุกแห่ง และบังคับเขาให้กล่าวคำหมิ่นประมาท และเพราะข้าพระองค์โกรธเขายิ่งนัก ข้าพระองค์ได้ตามไปข่มเหงถึงเมืองในต่างประเทศ

¹¹Punishing them often in all the synagogues, I tried to make them blaspheme. Being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.

¹²ดังนั้นเมื่อข้าพระองค์กำลังไปยังเมืองดามัสกัส ได้ถืออำนาจและงานที่ได้รับมอบหมายจากพวกปุโรหิตใหญ่

¹²“Whereupon as I traveled to Damascus with the authority and commission from the chief priests,

¹³ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ ในเวลาเที่ยงวันเมื่อกำลังเดินทางไป ข้าพระองค์ได้เห็นแสงสว่างกล้ายิ่งกว่าแสงอาทิตย์ส่องลงมาจากท้องฟ้า ล้อมรอบข้าพระองค์กับคนทั้งหลายที่ไปกับข้าพระองค์

¹³at noon, O king, I saw on the way a light from the sky, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who traveled with me.

¹⁴ครั้นข้าพระองค์กับคนทั้งหลายล้มคะมำลงที่ดิน ข้าพระองค์ได้ยินพระสุรเสียงตรัสแก่ข้าพระองค์เป็นภาษาฮีบรูว่า `เซาโล เซาโลเอ๋ย เจ้าข่มเหงเราทำไม ซึ่งเจ้าถีบประตักก็ยากนัก'

¹⁴When we had all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’

¹⁵ข้าพระองค์ทูลถามว่า `พระองค์เจ้าข้า พระองค์ทรงเป็นผู้ใด' พระองค์จึงตรัสว่า `เราคือเยซูซึ่งเจ้าข่มเหง

¹⁵“I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ “He said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

¹⁶แต่ว่าจงลุกขึ้นยืนเถิด ด้วยว่าเราได้ปรากฏแก่เจ้าเพื่อจะตั้งเจ้าไว้ให้เป็นผู้รับใช้และเป็นพยานถึงเหตุการณ์ซึ่งเจ้าเห็น และถึงเหตุการณ์ที่เราจะแสดงตัวเราเองแก่เจ้าในเวลาภายหน้า

¹⁶ But arise, and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose: to appoint you a servant and a witness both of the things which you have seen, and of the things which I will reveal to you;

¹⁷เราจะช่วยเจ้าให้พ้นจากชนชาตินี้และจากคนต่างชาติที่เราจะใช้เจ้าไปหานั้น

¹⁷ delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom I send you,

¹⁸เพื่อจะให้เจ้าเปิดตาของเขา เพื่อเขาจะกลับจากความมืดมาถึงความสว่าง และจากอำนาจของซาตานมาถึงพระเจ้า เพื่อเขาจะได้รับการยกโทษความผิดบาปของเขา และให้ได้รับมรดกด้วยกันกับคนทั้งหลายซึ่งถูกแยกตั้งไว้แล้วโดยความเชื่อในเรา'

¹⁸ to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

¹⁹ข้าแต่กษัตริย์อากริปปา เมื่อเป็นเช่นนั้นแล้ว ข้าพระองค์จึงเชื่อฟังนิมิตซึ่งมาจากสวรรค์นั้น

¹⁹“Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,

²⁰แต่ข้าพระองค์ได้กล่าวสั่งสอนเขา ตั้งต้นที่เมืองดามัสกัสและในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม ทั่วแว่นแคว้นยูเดีย และแก่ชาวต่างประเทศ ให้เขากลับใจใหม่ ให้หันมาหาพระเจ้าและกระทำการซึ่งสมกับที่กลับใจใหม่แล้ว

²⁰but declared first to them of Damascus, at Jerusalem, and throughout all the country of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

²¹เพราะเหตุนี้พวกยิวจึงจับข้าพระองค์ที่พระวิหาร และพยายามหาช่องที่จะฆ่าข้าพระองค์เสีย

²¹For this reason the Jews seized me in the temple, and tried to kill me.

²²เป็นเพราะพระเจ้าได้ทรงโปรดช่วยข้าพระองค์ ข้าพระองค์จึงมีชีวิตอยู่จนถึงทุกวันนี้และเป็นพยานได้ต่อหน้าผู้น้อยผู้ใหญ่ ข้าพระองค์ไม่พูดเรื่องอื่นนอกจากเรื่องซึ่งบรรดาศาสดาพยากรณ์กับโมเสสได้กล่าวไว้ว่าจะมีขึ้น

²²Having therefore obtained the help that is from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would happen,

²³คือว่าพระคริสต์จะต้องทนทุกข์ทรมาน และพระองค์จะทรงแสดงความสว่างแก่ชนอิสราเอลและแก่คนต่างชาติ โดยที่ทรงเป็นผู้แรกซึ่งคืนพระชนม์"

²³how the Christ must suffer, and how, by the resurrection of the dead, he would be first to proclaim light both to these people and to the Gentiles.”

²⁴ครั้นเปาโลกำลังพูดแก้คดีอย่างนั้น เฟสทัสจึงร้องเสียงดังว่า "เปาโลเอ๋ย เจ้าคลั่งไปเสียแล้ว เจ้าเรียนรู้วิชามากจึงทำให้เจ้าคลั่งไป"

²⁴As he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, “Paul, you are crazy! Your great learning is driving you insane!”

²⁵แต่เปาโลกล่าวว่า "ท่านเฟสทัสเจ้าข้า ข้าพระองค์ไม่คลั่งเลย แต่ว่าได้พูดคำแห่งความจริงและคำที่ปกติชนจะพูด

²⁵But he said, “I am not crazy, most excellent Festus, but boldly declare words of truth and reasonableness.

²⁶ด้วยว่าท่านกษัตริย์ทรงทราบข้อความเหล่านี้ดีแล้ว ข้าพระองค์จึงกล้ากล่าวต่อพระพักตร์ของพระองค์ เพราะข้าพระองค์เชื่อแน่ว่า ไม่มีสักอย่างหนึ่งในบรรดาเหตุการณ์เหล่านั้นที่ได้พ้นพระเนตรของพระองค์ เพราะการเหล่านั้นมิได้กระทำกันในที่ลับลี้

²⁶For the king knows of these things, to whom also I speak freely. For I am persuaded that none of these things is hidden from him, for this has not been done in a corner.

²⁷ข้าแต่กษัตริย์อากริปปา พระองค์เชื่อพวกศาสดาพยากรณ์หรือไม่พระเจ้าข้า ข้าพระองค์ทราบว่าพระองค์เชื่อ"

²⁷King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe.”

²⁸อากริปปาจึงตรัสกับเปาโลว่า "เราเกือบจะเป็นคริสเตียนโดยคำชักชวนของเจ้า"

²⁸Agrippa said to Paul, “With a little persuasion are you trying to make me a Christian?”

²⁹เปาโลจึงทูลว่า "จำเพาะพระพักตร์พระเจ้า ข้าพระองค์มีความปรารถนายิ่งนักที่จะให้เป็นเหมือนอย่างข้าพระองค์ มิใช่พระองค์องค์เดียว แต่คนทั้งปวงที่ฟังข้าพระองค์วันนี้ด้วย เว้นเสียแต่เครื่องจำจองนี้"

²⁹Paul said, “I pray to God, that whether with little or with much, not only you, but also all that hear me this day, might become such as I am, except for these bonds.”

³⁰และเมื่อเปาโลกล่าวสิ่งเหล่านี้แล้ว กษัตริย์กับผู้ว่าราชการเมืองและพระนางเบอร์นิส และคนทั้งปวงที่นั่งอยู่ด้วยกันจึงลุกขึ้น

³⁰The king rose up with the governor, and Bernice, and those who sat with them.

³¹ครั้นออกไปแล้วจึงพากันพูดว่า "คนนี้มิได้ทำสิ่งใดที่สมควรจะถูกลงโทษถึงตายหรือจำจองไว้"

³¹When they had withdrawn, they spoke one to another, saying, “This man does nothing worthy of death or of bonds.”

³²ฝ่ายอากริปปาจึงตรัสกับเฟสทัสว่า "ถ้าคนนี้มิได้อุทธรณ์ถึงซีซาร์แล้วจะปล่อยเขาก็ได้"

³²Agrippa said to Festus, “This man might have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.”
