¹"วิบัติแก่ผู้ที่เอกเขนกอยู่ในศิโยน และวางใจอยู่ในภูเขาสะมาเรีย คือผู้มีชื่อเสียงแห่งประชาชาติชั้นเอกในบรรดาประชาชาติทั้งหลาย ผู้ซึ่งวงศ์วานอิสราเอลมาหานั่นน่ะ

¹Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who are secure on the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!

²จงไปยังเมืองคาลเนห์ และดูเอาเถอะ จากที่นั่นก็ไปยังฮามัทเมืองใหญ่ แล้วลงไปยังเมืองกัทของชาวฟีลิสเตีย เมืองเหล่านั้นดีกว่าอาณาจักรเหล่านี้หรือ หรืออาณาเขตเมืองเหล่านั้นใหญ่กว่าอาณาเขตเมืองของเจ้าหรือ

²Go to Calneh, and see; and from there go to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines. are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border?

³โอ เจ้าผู้ที่อยากผลัดวันสนองความร้ายให้เนิ่นไป แต่กลับนำเอาบัลลังก์แห่งความทารุณให้เข้ามาใกล้

³Those who put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;

⁴วิบัติแก่ผู้ที่นอนบนเตียงงาช้าง และผู้ซึ่งเหยียดตัวอยู่บนเก้าอี้ยาว และกินลูกแกะที่ได้มาจากฝูงแกะ และลูกวัวจากท่ามกลางคอกวัว

⁴Who lie on beds of ivory, and stretch themselves on their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;

⁵และร้องเพลงไร้สาระประสานเสียงพิณใหญ่ กระทำอย่างดาวิดในการประดิษฐ์เครื่องดนตรีขึ้นใหม่

⁵who strum on the strings of a harp; who invent for themselves instruments of music, like David;

⁶ผู้ใช้ชามใส่น้ำองุ่นดื่ม และชโลมตัวด้วยน้ำมันอย่างดี แต่มิได้เป็นทุกข์โศกในเรื่องความทุกข์ยากของโยเซฟ

⁶who drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the best oils; but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

⁷เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจะต้องไปเป็นเชลยกับพวกแรกที่ตกไปเป็นเชลย และเสียงอึงคะนึงของพวกที่นอนเหยียดตัวก็หมดสิ้นไป"

⁷Therefore they will now go captive with the first who go captive; and the feasting and lounging will end.

⁸องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าได้ทรงปฏิญาณต่อพระองค์เองว่า พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าจอมโยธาตรัสว่า "เราสะอิดสะเอียนความล้ำเลิศของยาโคบ และเกลียดปราสาททั้งหลายของเขา เราจะมอบเมืองนั้นและบรรดาสิ่งสารพัดที่อยู่ในเมืองนั้นเสีย"

⁸“The Lord Yahweh has sworn by himself,” says Yahweh, the God of Armies: “I abhor the pride of Jacob, and detest his fortresses. Therefore I will deliver up the city with all that is in it.

⁹ต่อมาถ้าในเรือนเดียวมีคนเหลืออยู่สิบคน เขาจะต้องตายหมด

⁹It will happen, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.

¹⁰และเมื่อลุงของผู้ใด คือผู้ที่เผาเพื่อเขา จะยกศพขึ้นเพื่อจะนำกระดูกออกนอกเรือน และจะกล่าวกับคนที่อยู่ในห้องชั้นในที่สุดของเรือนนั้นว่า "ยังมีใครอยู่กับเจ้าหรือ" เขาจะตอบว่า "ไม่มี" และเขาจะกล่าวว่า "จุ๊ จุ๊ อย่าให้เราออกพระนามของพระเยโฮวาห์"

¹⁰“When a man’s relative carries him, even he who burns him, to bring bodies out of the house, and asks him who is in the innermost parts of the house, ‘Is there yet any with you?’ And he says, ‘No;’ then he will say, ‘Hush! Indeed we must not mention the name of Yahweh.’

¹¹เพราะดูเถิด พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงบัญชาแล้ว พระองค์จะทรงฟาดเรือนใหญ่ให้แตกเป็นชิ้นๆ และเรือนเล็กก็จะแตกเป็นจุณ

¹¹“For, behold, Yahweh commands, and the great house will be smashed to pieces, and the little house into bits.

¹²ม้าจะวิ่งบนศิลาหรือ มีคนหนึ่งคนใดใช้วัวไถที่นั่นหรือ แต่เจ้าทั้งหลายได้กลับความยุติธรรมให้ขมอย่างดีหมี และเปลี่ยนผลของความชอบธรรมให้ขมอย่างบอระเพ็ด

¹²Do horses run on the rocky crags? Does one plow there with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness;

¹³เจ้าทั้งหลายผู้เปรมปรีดิ์อยู่ในสิ่งอันไร้สาระ ผู้ซึ่งกล่าวว่า "เราได้ยึดเขาสัตว์มาเป็นของเราด้วยกำลังของเรามิใช่หรือ"

¹³you who rejoice in a thing of nothing, who say, ‘Haven’t we taken for ourselves horns by our own strength?’

¹⁴พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าจอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า "เพราะ ดูเถิด โอ วงศ์วานอิสราเอลเอ๋ย เราจะยกประชาชาติหนึ่งให้ขึ้นต่อสู้เจ้า และเขาจะบีบบังคับเจ้าตั้งแต่ทางเข้าเมืองฮามัทถึงแม่น้ำแห่งถิ่นทุรกันดาร"

¹⁴For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, house of Israel,” says Yahweh, the God of Armies; “and they will afflict you from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of the Arabah.”
